I write DBZ as I stated earlier. I have an OC and I'd like to introduce her now to help out my new readers. Her name is Rian L. Ruby. She is a rare sub-species of Saiyan that has a wolf tail instead of a monkey tail. She wears a long red dress,has long red and green striped hair and a scar on her left cheek. She is Vegeta's love interest in a majority of my stories and she transforms into a wolf, not an ape (duh). I chose to call her Rian because all Saiyans are named after vegetables. And what do you get when you combine Vegeta and Rian? ....VEGETARIAN! Ha! (which I am not but it sounds funny) Now, about my fan fics... Wow, are these things ever long!! And I mean loooong! Some of them I've worked on for over ten years. But since I'm new here, I think I'll start with a few simple ones at first. My OC isn't usually in the shorter ones, but I will bring in the ones with her eventually. Just remember, after a while my stories will grow longer. So if you like them and start reading them, you better be in for the long haul. And I mean it. If any of you know anyone who is a Dragon Ball Z fan please, please send them over to this site! I don't want my friend Yellow Mew to be the only one who gets these things! |

Interesting. I have a few Dragon Ball fan characters myself; maybe I'll post about them a little later. I do have two Saiyan characters at the moment, but they're both hybrids between them and humans, descendants of Son Goku and Vegeta. (Like, a really long time later descendants) One of the things I've noticed a lot about fan fiction in general is that people who write it love to pair their own characters with ones canon to the story. I don't usually have much of a problem with this, but it gets somewhat annoying in Dragon Ball, as most characters usually have love interests or are married. Or they happen to be Piccolo, who has absolutely no interest in love and is confused by the concept of it. My point is, Vegeta already has a wife. If you're going to write romance between him and your character, or anyone who isn't Bulma, be sure to include a reason for it. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if he's not good with relationships. And another thing, about your character in general. I like the idea that you used a name pun for her name, as I always do the same. (Even for characters that are in my own original series, there happens to be some sort of pun scheme for different characters. It's a lot easier to choose names that way) But the thing that bothers me is that your character's a Saiyan with a wolf tail. I see a lot of Saiyan characters, and there are ways to justify their existence. (Perhaps banished for being too weak like Tarble was, if you've seen the Jump Super Anime Tour special) The wolf thing just seems a little too close to a werewolf to me. I actually have a friend who's working on a hybrid between a Saiyan and another alien for an RPG, and I was thinking that perhaps they weren't completely Saiyan, but perhaps a hybrid between one and some other alien? It could be possible, as it's not like Saiyans live exclusively on their own planet. Oh, and when I first read this and realized that it had to do with your username, I thought "Oh God, not another Mary Sue..." but instead, I was pleasantly surprised. For another series I'm writing, I have a character who started out as a complete Mary Sue, but after around 2 years of developing what I wanted in a main character, she eventually turned into a very different character, a hick accented, gun slinging, alcohol addicted cowgirl from another planet. Yeah, it really is that strange. Oh, why don't you tell us a little bit about her personality? Go a little more in depth about her appearance? Any notable flaws in her character? Does she get beaten up easily? I find it's pretty important to not these sort of things. I don't really have any friends at the moment who write Dragon Ball fanfiction, so I can't exactly invite others over at the moment. Sorry! ^^;

Hello Kiyza. Here's some more detail on my OC and my story. You don't have to worry, I've been working on this for years so I've got this pretty much figured out. I should of explained more about this earlier. Here's how it works: The long story I wrote called Vegeta & Rian:The War Years takes place in an AU similar to that of future Trunks. Vegeta is sent to Earth by Freeza when he is 15, but doesn't know that some of Freeza's men have been sent there to kill him. Vegeta is beaten and left for dead and in the process loses his memory of Freeza thanks to a head injury( Kakarot the second). My OC Rian (who is 11) finds him and tries to care for him. Vegeta of course wants nothing to do with her, until he sees that she's a Saiyan. He decides to take her to a far off planet to train her and basically use her as he pleases. But (now this is like the Android Saga) Vegeta suddenly becomes very sick and it is Rian who saves his life. This opens Vegeta's eyes and starts him thinking that he might like her because she cared enough to help him (like in the Z Warriors Prepare episode where Vegeta's ship blows up during his training and Bulma helps him). Their relationship slowly builds from here over a period of years, and since Vegeta meets Rian first, he never becomes too involved with Bulma. As for Rian's tail and transformation I explain that like this: Before the Saiyans were killed there were two species of them-the wolves and the monkeys. Wolf Saiyans were stronger but there very few of them. After King Vegeta killed the Tuffles and took over, he set his sights on the wolf Saiyans, as he feared they could be a threat to his kingdom should they multiply. He would of finished them all off but Freeza came along and wiped all the Saiyans out. Rian is believed to be the last of her kind alive, sent to Earth as a baby in an attempt to save what was left of her kind from King Vegeta. |

If you'd like a more in depth look at Rian, I have that too. Rian hates her life on Earth. She lives by herself like Kakarot did when he was little. She has tried to mix with the people of Earth but knows she's too different to fit in, so she lives out in the desert by herself. She leaves with Vegeta because she's in hopes he can teach her more about who and what she really is and to escape her lonely life on Earth. Her personality is like that of both Kakarot and Vegeta combined. She can be nice and care for her friends but she thinks nothing of fighting and killing anyone she wants. She also tends to have a bad attitude when provoked and can be stubborn. Her only flaw is that she can both love and hate too much, often at the wrong times, as her later experiences with Raditz show. As for her strength, she is actually stronger then Vegeta himself! She is weak at first, and doesn't start to improve until after her first three years of working for Freeza, where she must truly learn to fight to survive and this brings out her real Saiyan powers. She later gains enough power to become Freeza's second in command, making her higher up then Captain Ginu. Freeza doesn't want to give her this title, but as he is paranoid over strong Saiyans, he figures that if she has this job it would let her work closely with him so he can secretly keep an eye on her. Rian's power level eventually reaches 280,000, but her love for Vegeta holds back her strength. When they battle together she has trouble using her power (both of her own choosing and subconsciously) in order to allow Vegeta to keep believing that he's the strongest Saiyan there is. She doesn't want to appear stronger then he is because she believes that, as the ruler of their kind, he is the only one with any right to be in charge. She doesn't desire power or to rule everything in sight. She only wants to be strong enough to do what she wants when she wants and be able to kill those who get in her way. |

It's such a relief that your character isn't over powered. I absolutely hate it when Dragon Ball fancharacters are like that. I absolutely hate power battle powers ("power levels" in the Funimation dub) and the various debates that go along with them. I mean, it's nice to have measurements of the characters strengths, but they just grow so quickly and are completely over the top by the middle of the Freeza arc. They annoy me to no end, and thus, I'll never list battle powers for any of my characters. Sorry about the mini-rant. |

Rian and Vegeta's relationship is something that grows slowly over time. I haven't made him OOC or anything to make him appear more loving and caring towards her. Rian is more open with her feelings while Vegeta shows his affection by putting up with her and allowing her to get away with things Raditz and Nappa can't. There have been times when Vegeta gets carried away and almost attacks Rian, but he stops when he realizes what he's doing. The way I have things set up, Vegeta and Rian get along like he and Bulma do towards the end of DBZ (before Kid Buu is killed). Vegeta isn't as soft as he is in GT but he isn't as violent as he was during the Android Saga. So it kind of balances out somewhere inbetween. Around everyone else Vegeta still acts the same. Most would never know that he and Rian have anything going on behind closed doors. Although there is a point where Nappa begins to wonder. He asks Vegeta about it and nearly gets his foot shot off for asking. No more questions there! Rian and Vegeta also have a different (and I think better) relationship then the one he has with Bulma. Both being Saiyans they are interested in the same things which helps deepen their bond. Rian is turned on by her prince when he wins a bloody, vicious battle, and this hightens Vegeta's interest in her. He's had many who've done as he said out of fear, but Rian loves him and does as he says due to her own free will and chosing. This is another reason why Vegeta likes her. |

I'm really appreciating all of the detail you're going into with your character. And I guess it makes sense that Vegeta would fall in love with her because she fights. Personally, I've always thought Vegeta would be a little spontaneous when it comes to his love live. But then again, I'm not much of a romance person. Oh, and a little feedback on my Dragon Ball OCs would be nice. Please? |

Sorry about not having the time to look over your OCs earlier, Kiyza. I was super busy yesterday! But I've left some feedback there and I'd love to keep discussing them with you. ![]() Now my next set of OCs involves Raditz's family. I've given him three sisters and three brothers (well, Kakarot actually makes four, but I created the others). I also gave Raditz two twin sons and later five grandchildren. But all of this happens way, way later towards the end of the story. 85% of the story belongs to Rian and Vegeta. Raditz's children don't come in until much later. Raditz's older sister Kohlrabi and younger brother Brockaylance are the only two I really have appear often though. I tend to focus more on Kohlrabi as she plays a more important role in Raditz's life. Kohlrabi is basically an overbearing, overprotective big sister that drags Raditz everywhere and tells him what to do. She is the only one in his family who deeply cares for him, and she overdoes things in her attempt to look after him by always telling him where to go, what to do, and how to do it. Kohlrabi means well, and Raditz knows this too, but there are times when he just needs to escape his big sister. It's said in my story that Raditz is his family's reject and all his other siblings pretty much disowned him after planet Vegeta was destroyed. Kolrabi however stuck by him and basically acted as a mother to Raditz and helped raise him and look after him. As a young teenager in the beginning of my story, Raditz is completely controled by Kohlrabi at first. It isn't until he grows older and starts doing things on his own that he finally escapes her. That's when he discovers his own love interest and ends up having children. Kohlrabi meanwhile ends up having a one night stand with Broly and has his daughter Sentil. |

One interesting note here is that I've modified Raditz's personality a little bit. In my story Raditz is less mean with a better sense of humor, a crude,rude sense of humor though (something I will have to tone down if I post it here ^^; ). His attitude has taken on a more caring manner also at times, but not so over the top that he doesn't seem like himself anymore. Also of note are Raditz's two sons Joey and Murdoc. Ha, yeah, not too creative on the names there... Murdoc is similar to burdock, which of course becomes Bardok. As for Joey...well, I was into Yu-Gi-Oh at the time and was thnking of Joey Wheeler. Plus, I always wanted a son named Joey. It sounds cute. ![]() Very few of my OCs are super strong, but Joey and Murdoc are different. Murdoc is the only SS4 in my story, while Joey is a SS3. Very few of the other Saiyans can even become Super Saiyans. I just don't favor overly powerful characters. Murdoc is a genius and was born a child prodigy. Joey on the other hand is...um, how to put this nicely...special. Joey can't talk (except through telepathy) and has poor coordination. But he has outstanding psychic powers and can see and speak to spirits of the dead in his mind. It's his psychic powers that make up for his inability to fight hand-to-hand combat. Joey is also unusually sweet for a Saiyan. Murdoc however, takes after his father and though he is extremely intelligent, can be a bit rude at times. Hmm...Kiyza, does this story sound interesting enough that I should post it here? It'd take me forever to finish it though, but if I started soon I might be able to get a decent amount of it posted by the end of the summer... I'd have to tone down the language and cut out the lemons before posting it first. I fear some of those scenes between Vegeta and Rian are too steamy for this site! Yeah, I'm that type of girl... |

I don't think any of my OCs can go Super Saiyan. Maybe Goka will, but I haven't worked that out yet. I would like to have Tee turn into a purple ozaru though. Honestly, I could see Raditz's personality being somewhat different while around people other than Goku and his friends. He probably acted superior because he was superior to them. In terms of battle power anyway. He's probably a lot different around Vegeta and Nappa. I don't believe in Super Saiyan 4. I never watched GT. But honestly, it should be called "Super Ozaru" or something to that effect. It's not exactly the next grade of Super Saiyan from what I know, but rather a combining of their Super Saiyan and Ozaru states.I hate characters who are born strong. Unless they have justification for that. I honestly think that Namekians for instance are probably pretty strong from the minute they hatch. It would be virtually impossible for them to actually get out their eggs otherwise. And one of the Daizenshuu (Japanese Dragon Ball guidebooks) says that they can speak right after they hatch too. (I incorperated that into my recent fic Blue Skies) It wouldn't surprise me if they were at least as strong as a human adult when they're born. But characters like Broli, who are apparently born with battle powers, as they say "over 9000," not only get on my nerves, but come off as Mary Sues to me. Wait, we're not allowed to use swear words on this site? It's a good thing they're not in any of my fics at the moment, but I guess I could censor it if I decide there will be. I'm not a romance person, (I'm beginning to suspect that I might be asexual to be honest) but I'm a fan of a good adventure. If you do post your story, I'll be sure to read it. |

My story isn't all romance actually. For one thing, I don't think Vegeta could be a romantic guy no matter how you write him to be! It is more of an adventure, one very long adventure. Hmm...lets see... First it covers Rian and Vegeta working for Freeza for eight years, then eight years of the DBZ group on Earth before the androids come, then a rewritten version of the History of Trunks movie, back into the Android Saga, then new adventures of Trunks in the future after Cell. I think I might start posting it, but I've got to work on some other things first. Oh, you mentioned Broly back there. Funny, the first of the three Broly movies is my favorite of all the DBZ movies. Although there is very, very little of him in my story. Like maybe...oh, 1%? Broly's daughter Sentil actually forms a rivalry against Raditz's son Murdoc in later chapters, similar to that of Kakarot and Vegeta. Sentil can't understand why Murdoc is so much stronger than she is, while she is the daughter of the legendary Super Saiyan. But still, I don't favor overly powerful characters either. And while Joey and Murdoc do become Super Saiyans, I only write about them being at level 1. By rights I've given them the abilty to do more, but I really haven't had enough interest in writing that part out yet. In truth, I probably won't. And of all my Saiyan OCs combined, only five are Super Saiyans (lets see that's... five out of nineteen I think). |

Just a quick side note, the Trunks special isn't a movie, it's a TV special. Unlike the movies, the Trunks special was originally broadcast on Japanese television, where as the movies were to be seen in the theaters. If neither happened, it would be considered an OVA, or Original Video Animation. To be blatantly honest, I hate Broli. Albeit, I've only seen a few of the Dragon Ball movies so far, but I do plan on watching them all whenever Funimation puts out the Dragon Box footage for them. We know for a fact they have it. Broli just comes off as an over powered Mary Sue type character to me. The only thing I'm actually fond of about him is his appearance in his base form. I think it looks really innocent and appears as a complete contradiction to how most people know the character. Did you know that Toriyama did the original character design for him? I could give you a link to the artwork if you want. In it he has a tail, too. I think that makes him look better. I've always been of the opinion that if a Saiyan were to transform into a Super Saiyan with their tail, their tail would probably turn golden too, but GT seems to contradict that. Not that GT affects me in any way. Sheesh, 19 Saiyans? I don't think any of my characters are full Saiyan. And if they do have some Saiyan hertiage, it's a very small ammount. (Goka and Tee are probably around 1024th Saiyan) Also, I think only one of my characters can use any sort of transformation, and that's Hammer who's had well over a hundred years to work on it. He can use Choukyoshinjutsu, the Namekian ability to increase their size. It apparently only affects their physical strength though, and has nothing to do with their ki. |

:lol: What? You think nineteen is too many? Hang on a minute, let me check my books... Okay, here we go. Brockaylance, Kantharakoga, Kohlrabi, Skarlath, Janineka, Shooting Star, Murdoc, Joey, Aspear, Dirapa, Sentil, Ramis, Manioc, Tannia, Avoca, Lathyrus, and Rian. And Ramis and Avoca have two kids named after their great grandparents, but I'll the details on them a secret for now. Oh wait! Rian becomes a Super Saiyan too! Haha, bit much, huh? I think I created a few too many Saiyan OCs. In the earlier versions of my story I tried to include them all, but it was way to crowded. So, as I rewrote my story, I cut out Janineka and Kantharakoga and left Brockaylance and Shooting Star in as minor characters. Skarlath was hardly ever heard of. I then kept working on Kohlrabi and developed her into a more important character. Joey, Murdoc and Sentil slowly become major characters for awhile towards the end of the story, but not much is said about their children. As for Broly I can't stand him either, but I do like his looks when he's calm. I just like what the movie is about. I'd love to see the link you mentioned earlier. That sounds really cool! And yes, I know what the History of Trunks was, I'm just lazy and call them all movies. How many of the DBZ movies have you seen anyway? I have (I think) all of them. I like the first Broly movie, The Wrath of the Dragon, and the Dead Zone best. I honestly don't know what the hold up is with the Son Goku & Friends Return film is. I heard it is supposed to be released in Mexico next year and then hopefully in America next. But why did they sit on this thing like it's made of gold and they're afraid someone might see it? |

The thing with the Jump special is that it's exclusively liscensed by Shueshia, not by Toei, so no other company has the rights to it at the moment. If Funimation were to acquire the rights, they'd first have to go through Viz who has to go through Shueisha. And plus, this is a Japanese product. It was very difficult to obtain in Japan. They're probably afraid of reverse importation, which a lot of Japanese anime fans do since our DVDs are cheaper. In short, it's a lot more complicated than most people think. Having a large cast of characters isn't nessecarilly bad, but it could potentially be if each individual character doesn't get the attention they deserve. This was one of the things I didn't like about later in Dragon Ball; characters like Kuririn and Tenshinhan never really got moments to shine after the Saiyan and Freeza arcs. Plus there's the fact that all of your characters are Saiyans. How about adding a little more variety to it? I'm sure that you could work in some other races, like perhaps one of Freeza's race or Zarbon's? I try to keep my character's races as varied as possible. 19 Saiyans just sounds like a very big number to me. |

I really appreciate all the feedback you're giving me on my story. You make some good points and help me think about some things differently. It's really helpful. I think I really will have to start posting my story here after all we've talked about it (wow, we really do need a chat room in here!). I've also never known anyone else who's into DBZ, so it's really great to have someone else who is to chat with. ![]() Again, you make a good point about having people from other races. I refuse to add some from Freeza's because I hate anyone who hurts/kills Vegeta. But I do have a few others. I like Jeice, so I created some others from his race, giving him a big sister and a cousin. There is another I created called Predak, but I'm not sure what race he's from. You know that guy who took care of Vegeta in the healing tank after his battle on Earth? There was this one doctor, he looked like a half lizard,half chicken with orange hair and brown skin. Predak is that guy's son. And does anyone know the name of that doctor/lizard/chicken guy? I heard his name was Rooster, which seems to fit because that's what he looks like. So I just call him that in my story. And you know, nineteen kind of is a big number. I guess I just never stopped to think about it until now. But I did cut a few out when it became too much as I rewrote my story. In truth, I just like the idea of an AU where more Saiyans survived the destruction of their home planet. I did create a few of my own races however. The most important ones are called Kilrathi. As my story goes, the Kilrathi are an ancient species that were the most powerful warrior race before the Saiyans came along. King Vegeta had plans on taking over their kingdom to prove that the Saiyans were the strongest. He ofcourse died before he had the chance, leaving his son to finish them instead. One of the surviving Kilrathi leaders even leads an attack on Vegeta, as they still are mad over what his father did to them long ago. |

I have a few friends who are somewhat into Dragon Ball, but none who actually write fanfiction about it. It's nice to know that there are others who I can converse with on the subject. Personally, I think Freeza's a great character, there's just certain aspects of him that a lot of people dislike, like being a homocidal maniac. But if you've ever flipped through a little bit of Neko Majin Z, a gag manga by Akira Toriyama, you'll notice that one of the characters, Kuriza, happens to actually be Freeza's son, but is completely unserious. Arguably, he's not exactly canon to the series, but not everyone from each race is evil or good. In the same vein, though Namekians are generally regarded as peaceful, there's been a little bit of concept art floating around for an evil looking character who's apparently a Namekian. Everyone's different, and assumptions can't be made on race. I have a lot of experience making up races of my own, but never in a Dragon Ball context. Discounting humans, in a story I'm writing called Aeron, there are 5 races in the story, or rather species, since races is reserved for individual subspecies there of. I'd go more in depth, but this isn't exactly a forum about original fiction. |

Well it's been a while since I last posted anything here, so I figured it was time to post some new info since my Vegeta & Rian fic is on book two now. I'm sure my readers will have noticed the former name of Freeza's planet is Rochellê. If anyone is wondering why, of all things, I chose that, here's why: Rochellê is actually a name from my favorite computer role playing game called Odyssey:The Legend of Nemesis. Rochellê is the island where Nemesis can be found at the end of the game (Nemesis is, of course, the bad guy you try to defeat). I love that game so much that I decided to model the home base of Freeza after at. That's why the planet Rochellê is mainly sand and ocean, after the island of Rochellê. The entire design of Freeza's fortress was also made to be just like Nemesis' grand palace on the island. One thing that will be coming up in book two of my Vegeta & Rian series is a training area that resembles a feature on Rochellê island. It's a cave that takes you to an area of different enviornments that is full of monters. This cave also exists in the Odyssey game. I figured such an area would provide a good training experience for the characters in my fic. But I changed the cave in my story to make it more like the Room Of Spirit and Time from Dragon Ball Z. I did this by making it a place where time moves slower when you're inside the cave and training area with the monsters. I thought it would be a nice touch. Oh, and I highly recommend Odyssey:The Legend of Nemesis. I think it is one of the best role playing games ever made! |
