While I don't want to go completely off topic here, I hate that the majority of Dragon Ball fans are strongly in preference of Z. Most people don't make it to the end of the original series to see what I honestly think is the best fight in the entire series. It's a good blend of the classical martial arts combined with those insane ki blasts the series is known for, and probably the biggest climax in the entire series. If you've never seen the fight between Goku and Piccolo during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, you don't know what you missed.

Filler gets on my nerves most of the time. I generally just read the manga because of it. Remember the fake Namek arc? Or the 5 minutes that lasted 9 episodes? I can't last through those... -_-

It's Naruto that ruined filler forever for me. 85 episodes in a Dende-damn row of it... And people criticise Dragon Ball for filler!

At least there's good filler, like the driving episode, but Naruto's is just... awful.

Yeah, I saw that fight. Piccolo and Goku's battle was boring... *yawn* Just a few ki shots and not much to it. Piccolo was a good warm up for Goku to get him ready for his real challenges in DBZ.
And DB just stunk no matter how you look at it. Everything was Kakarot and look at him do this, watch him do that... You couldn't pay me to sit through the whole thing again because looking at Kakarot that much makes me seriously want to puke my guts out.

I like the fillers in DBZ. I liked those fake Namek episodes. Sometimes I go back and watch them just for fun. And fillers are fun because they offer something new and different from the manga. That way it's like a surprise to see what they'll add next. :) I find it enjoyable, and it helps stretch the series and gives us more to watch. One thing I know for sure is that the Android Saga would be nothing without it.

Yeah, Naruto was very horrible with their filler, and that's most of the Naruto we see anyway! DBZ had good filler, like fighting the dead Ginyu Force on King Kai's planet.
I need to watch more DB, I guess. The move that killed King Piccolo did look pretty cool.

...That was a real challenge. Seriously. I love the original Dragon Ball. Z just doesn't strike as much of a chord with me. I love humor and physical fights, quirkiness and that Toriyama sense of humor. And I like Goku as a character because he's naive and funny. Kinda reminds me of myself a bit.

I feel that people who can't enjoy the original series are just too biased because they never watched it in order. And then there's the matter of fangirlism of Vegeta/Trunks/insertZonlycharacterhere. I loved the parts that didn't include Piccolo, especially bits with Taopaipai and the Tenkaichi Budokai. I kinda grew up with the series front to back, Dragon Ball, then Z, not the other way around. In all honesty, I'll take the original over Z any day of the week. I like some slapstick comedy on top of my action. Let's not forget that I started out as Dr. Slump fan before I read the series in the first place.

What I hate about my fandom: people who don't like the original Dragon Ball because it's humorous, quirky, and childish. Also "There's not enough hardcore action!" (or certain characters) I think this was described on Daizex once as a "Typical Internet Asshat." Don't take it personally, but that's my general bias towards these people.
