Oh so many memories. Where on Earth do I begin? I remember getting my first SNES in 1991. And my Game Boy shortly after that. Yeah, the old black & white Game Boy. I remember my Game Boy was a Christmas present. I stayed up all night playing it until I fell asleep under the Christmas tree and woke up the next morning in the living room. I also remember growing up listening to rap music back before rap became all about bling bling and hos. Rap was about real skills back then, and I remember trans music in the late 90's. Orbital's Blue Room was the best song then, along with We'll Go Dreaming, but I forget who sung that one. I remember watching MTV go down the toilet with too many TV shows. Yes, I remember being able to turn on MTV at any time of the day or night and seeing ACTUAL VIDEOS. Shows like the Real World were the downfall of that station, I knew it the moment I saw it. I really liked Beavis & Butt-head though. I remember growing up watching Super Mario Bros. Super Show and Captain N in the late 80's, then the SatAM Sonic shows, then Dragon Ball in 1995. Those were the best shows ever and to this day Dragon Ball Z is still my all time favorite. Perhaps the most amazing thing I've seen is how Game Boys changed with time. From the big black and white ones, to Game Boy Advance, to the DSi I'm typing on right now. I have one of each, and the older ones still work too. I remember seeing on TV when I was 7 that they buried a time capsule out in front of Nickeldeon studios with an old Game Boy in it and they wouldn't open the capsule for 100 years to see how things changed then. But heck, look at the DSi they have out now already. What in the world could they have in 100 years? It boggles the mind to think on it. |

(I was born in 1991, heh heh.) I missed out on the SNES, but I did get the Game Boys. Still have one of each too, my Pokemon themed Game Boy Color and silver GBA are sitting right next to me. Playing Pokemon Red until 4 in the morning on the original Game Boy was pretty neat. I think I lived solely on Game Boy and PS1 for a while.Us Brits had Cartoon Network, CBBC and CITV. Don't think we had SatAM Sonic at the time, but I remember watching some AoStH. Oh God, the Beano! I remember getting that every week. It's hard to believe it's been around since war times. Captain Underpants. Playing Worms on a Windows '98 PC. Good times. Ok, now I'm just listing random things... Yeah, things move on very quickly, especially technology. I wonder how many of the people here have ever listened to an internet dial-up tone. |

The funny thing about how tech evolves is that in the 90's nearly everything they invented was new. Now new inventions seem rare as it's more like they just reinvent and improve upon older things. Like how every month a newer version of a computer or a cell phone comes out. They're just newer versions, not all new things. It's kind of funny when you think about this actually. I remember the adapter my old Game Boy had that you could use to recharge it so you didn't always need new batteries for it. And oh look, my DSi has an adapter too and a rechargable battery in it. Well ain't that cute? See what I mean? Just reinventions. My mom and I always played on the old SNES a lot. We stayed up past midnight playing Super Mario World. Loved it! I remember the first time we got the first ever Super Mario Kart Racing game. We actually played it until our thumbs were sore and bloody. So we bandaged up our thumbs and just kept going! lol True story. The first 3D Donkey Kong games for the SNES were really something too. Those are some of my favorite games, and back then those games were on top for their breakthrough graphics. The lush forests, deep blue seas and snow were amazing when I first saw them. Every little detail stood out like never before, from the setting sun to the fireworks at the rollar coaster rides. It's really beautiful and very well done. |

I hardly remember the 90's. What I do remember are things that are pretty simple. The Nintendo 64 was huge, along with all of the Game Boys. Sonic fans we're a lot less prone to violence, and Dragon Ball fans were far more prone to it. Anime dubbing sucked, and you couldn't get anything subtitled. DVDs were virtually nonexistant, and manga was never translated. The internet was always dial up, and everything took forever loading. You'd be lucky to have 20 GB of space on your computer, much less your iPod. Oh, and Cartoon Network didn't suck. I think that pretty much covers the 90's. |

Cartoon Network really didn't suck in the 90's. Oh my God, you've got that one right, Kiyza! That's for damn sure. I don't know what's happened to Cartoon Network lately but I almost never watch it anymore. I guess any station without DBZ is just not worth my time. I remember the first DBZ movie Dead Zone being released in the late 90's and how horribly inaccurate the subtitles were. I also remember how how The Tree of Might and The World's Strongest had Japanese without subtitles to most of it. I guess they were in such a hurry to release them over here that they couldn't be bothered to add the subs. |

Come to think of it, most of the 90's were decidedly lacking in the realms of Steve Simmons... (That guy who does the subtitles for the majority of the series) Not surpising there weren't many good subtitles for the series. |

In the 90's, the N64 was completely awesome! I remember playing it for hours at a time, usually I just played Star Wars EP. 1 Racer. I only played racing games on there but I still dominated at it. It's so much harder on the emulator though... |
