This is something I've thought about for a long time now, and I would like to see what you guys think about this. I don't know how many of you have heard about the legend of Moth Man, but I think that Moth Man may be proof that shinigami (or gods of death) really have visited our world. Please note that this is a true story. You can look it up for yourself. It all began in the town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia on November 15th 1966. Sightings of a strange human-like figure with glowing red eyes, a black body and wings began to appear. Thirteen months later the creature, who became known as Moth Man, was seen flying over the Silver Bridge several times just before the bridge collapsed, killing several dozen people on the night of December 15th,1967. Rumors have surfaced that Moth Man sightings are there to warn of grave danger and death, and there is even a so-called 'Death Curse' or 'Moth Man Death List' involved with people who have made movies about the legend of Moth Man. In one case over 50 people involved with the making of a Moth Man movie died shortly after the movie was finished. This same thing happens every time a Moth Man movie is made. So my question is could Moth Man be a shinigami like the ones in Death Note? The 'Moth Man Death List' reminds me of the Death Note itself that Ryuk dropped in the human world. It would sure be something if this creature was a shingami, maybe even Ryuk himself. Of course, no one will know for sure, but it is an interesting idea.

I can't believe this thing has been here so long with no one replying to it. In all honesty, I think that the mothman has very little in the way of substantial evidence for it. There's very little more than eye witness reports of it; no physical evidence or the like. A lot of things can be misidentified or mistaken for other things. Most of the time, it's really not a so called "Mothman," but something like a common horned owl. Those things are a lot bigger than you think. As for physical resemblances to Ryuk, they're few and far between. I can't recall any point where his eyes are drawn red or he makes some sort of screeching sound, like mothmen allegedly do. Further more, there's the matter shinigami in Death Note don't really care who they kill or whether they're killing en mass. The seem pretty confined to their own world, but I'm only a volume or so into the series, so someone can probably prove me otherwise. On a similar note, (oh you see what I did thar?) I had a pretty freaky dream the other night where I could feel something in my room by the space heater. I turned my head around to see what it was and nothing was there. For some reason, the fact that I had been reading Death Note earlier that day made me think that perhaps it was a shinigami or something crazy. However, I could tell it was just a dream. ^^; |
