Found out the other day that I was using the black coach incorrectly in that any dice that aren't absorbed by the coach with it's evocation of death power go back to the wizard the dice were taken from, which means individual dice being rolled for every wizard within 6 inches of it. Playing Nathan the other day, an innocent query turned into a look at the rules for evocation of death. For every 6 rolled, you don't actually roll that dice again to see what you get off the evocation of death table, you just count the number of 6's rolled and apply that result, hence the 6+ appearing at the last power. I will get this confirmed however as it did make complete sense. How can you roll more than 6 on 1 d6? Just some more on this. From a Vampire counts forum:
I'm sensing the black coach to become a formidable opponent again... Edited by mortislegion, Apr 2 2009, 09:48 AM.

its often nice when something you wish you could find a reason to field in your army suddenly becomes much more viable like a carnosaur that is nolonger large

Yes, it surprised me, seeing as it can potentially only take one magic turn to suddenly turn it into a rampaging hearse. |

So Paul, another "new" rule for your army you didn't know? How many does this make it on topic, yeah that does make it much more frightening.... and me playing an army with no S7 hits besides a 320 point Dragon Oh well, now I have an excuse to take it At least it can't get 20+ wounds now, that would be REALLY frightening with all these new abilities. |

No, not a rule I didn't know, as I wasn't the only one playing it that way. English being the lovely ambiguous thing that it is. The beauty of playing different and varied people is the take on the rules. As I mentioned it was an innocent question that led us to change the way it was being played. If we'd gone that one step further, the first turn would have seen it flying across the table causing terror, killing blowing, etc, etc, etc to troops that weren't even going to get close to it in the normal scheme of things. |

Yeah that's what I think as well Raith bring on the ethereal units and their real toughness, LOL. Be interesting to see how the black coach goes now in games and if evocation of death can live up to the old rules where it terrorised the actual players that were up against it. Oh, can't wait for curse of years to be unleashed as well, lol. I forgot to use it against Nathan last game, could have been all over by turn 1, lol. |

cube of darkness is just a little better, nerfs the spell and ends your magic phase on a 4+ if only it did it every turn *sigh*
