Ok, so I and, from what I hear, a few others have got bits and pieces of Flames of War stuff floating around, not a complete army at all but bits and pieces. Some Russians, and the intro kit with the Shermans and Stugs.

So, that said, the best way to learn a game, and the best way to get people enthused and start things happening, is to put models on a table and roll dice. So let's do that.

Paul has German infantry, and a Tiger, that I know. I can bring Russian tanks and infantry, as well as those Shermans and Stugs I mentioned. If anybody else has anything to contribute, bring it too. I have a rulebook, Paul has a rulebook, and I'm ordering Festung Europa, which is kinda like a codex or army book for the whole Late War in Europe. That means that, once my book gets in, we'll have everything we need to gather round a table and play some introductory, learn-the-rules games.

So, who wants to put their hands up for that?

I have the Sherman and StuG tanks from Open Fire as well as a small force of Aussie troops, none put together yet because of all my 40k stuff but I could quickly throw together a few platoons with little effort.

Weekends are usually fine. I can also do most tuesdays, and when I'm on holidays from 'higher education' (snicker) in three weeks, I'll have heaps of time.

Actually, I've got some Canadian infantry too...

If we combine the two intro boxes we have six Shermans, which can be used for the British, Aussies or the Canadians, and four Stugg's. I understand Paul is painting German infantry, which could be combined with the Stugg's and his Tiger.

I'm gonna call our favorite shop owner...

Actually, Aussies can't use Shermans...they were never equipped with them during the period mine's based on. Valentines and Crusaders were the only tanks they used in DivCav detachments.

Ah, well that doesn't help much...

Wait, does that mean you don't need your Shermans?

My Current forces (not all put together)

Company Command + transport - 35

Rifle Platoon + Light Mortar - 160
Rifle Platoon + Light Mortar - 160
Rifle Platoon + Light Mortar - 160

Mortar Platoon - 195
Anti-Tank Platoon + 6pdrs w/ jeeps - 195
HMG Platoon - 155
Carrier Patrol - 90

Heavy Mortar Platoon - 135

Field Battery, Royal Artillery - 415

This is not including transport options for the Mortar, HMG, Royal Artillery observers, or extra MG's for the carrier patrol.

All using the Australian Rifle Company rules, so if I drop 1 Platoon option and take transports I can have a 2000pt Aussie force at 1670 pts (Aussies get less points for better rules)

I'm also tempted to use the Shermans to 'count as' Aussie tank options to try those out sometime.

My Aussie team is pretty much set besides trying to figure out if Valentines or Crusaders are the better tanks to support my force.

So now I'm looking at a second team for Late war battles :D This will be after I've painted my Marine League army though so it'll be awhile coming :'(

Soooo...anyone up for a trial game with a MW army sometime? You pick points limit :) Gotta figure out my Tank Support.

Afrika and the mini-rulebook from Open Fire, nearly every PDF from the website and I've downloaded the big main rulebook and Ostfront. So I've got most Mid-War army lists available. If you want Ostfront to look at I can bring it on a USB and maybe Paul will let you use the computer to look. If you want a specific PDF I can put up a list once I've got them all together.

Well, I do the same with my Canadian Armor as you do with your Australia Infantry. I use the British lists with a few alternate rules, though I don't change points values.

Well, I'm still waiting on those models from Paul, but it shouldn't be too long. After they show up, how about you and I have a game or two in the shop? As far as I know, my list is only legal in Late War, but I'd have to take a look through Afrika to be sure. You've got it, you tell me, do they have any rules in there for Canadians that fought alongside the British in Africa, Sicily, and Italy? If not, then I think it'll have to be Late War. Like I said, I'm only getting started with my force, but if I borrow your three Shermans we'll be able to make a small game. I've only played the once, so it'll be a learning process, but that's fun.

Btw, we'll have to lend Paul our Stugs to add to his own Germans, and have a couple games with him. He's only played a few FOW games, but he's currently undefeated. Can't let that continue now, can we?
