Yeah, there are rules for Canadians in Afrika. They get more points for their armies because they aren't Veterans, they're only Trained. They also gain a couple of special rules and have a few equipment/platoon makeup changes to regular brit rifles. There's also rules on the website for the Dieppe raiders for the Canadians.

edit; Paul, the couple of games I've played I've also won... :P :D

No, when you're playing Canadians you accomplish all your objectives faster than the British and Americans, in the face of stiffer resistance. Then you get forgotten about in all the war movies.

Edit: Chris, thanks for the info on Infantry, but are there rules for Canadian Armored units? If so, I'll get Paul to order me Afrika.

No, historically, all Canadian units Mid-War were rifles companies with Heavy Tank support. There were no dedicated Armoured units large enough until Late War periods.

but then think about it, you need the minimum HQ and 2 rifle platoons. from that, you can then take any other choices available, including up to 2 Platoons of 3 Shermans or Churchills as Support Platoons.

So a rough combined arms force for Canadians would be like this;

Rifle Company 1500 (1760)
Command - 30

Rifle Platoon + light mortar & PIAT - 190
Rifle Platoon + light mortar & PIAT - 190

1 Recce Platoon (3 Otter I LRC) - 90

Tank Platoon (3 Sherman V tanks) + AA 0.5" MG - 420
Tank Platoon (3 Sherman V tanks) + AA 0.5" MG - 420

25pdr Artillery (2 Gun Troops) - 415

A quick List for your Canadians at 1755 pts (5 left over)

There are alot more options available that can also fit the Canadian company Historically, but this was just a quick throw-together.

Also, on the FoW website they have an announcement about the new North Africa rulebook, which apparently has more companies and all forces have been split between North Africa, Tunisia and Sicily/Italy. So when that comes out at the end of August (the 29th according to the website) there might well be rules for Canadian Armoured in MW.

Until then, I really don't have a problem using Canadian rules and applying them to a standard Armoured Company for friendly games.

Oh, I knew there weren't any fully armoured Canadian units historically. The Canadian 2nd and 4th didn't re-arm and move into action as armoured units until 1944.

Flames of War is, at best, a loose simulation of history, though. Otherwise there'd be a lot more horse-drawn artillery and a lot less Stugs and Tigers. I recall a lot of what-if type scenarios, Soviets vs Americans and the like, and wondered if there was a way to swing Canadian Armored in Mid-War. Using them as Brits would do for, as you say, friendly games. As for tournaments, they'll have to stick to the historically accurate Late-War.

Many apologies for the double-post. Apparently enemy paratroopers have dropped behind our lines, and are sabotaging the internet connections.

Ok, who wants a game this Saturday afternoon? I can do 1500 points for Mid War if I Chris can be so charitable as to lend me his three Shermans.

I work until 1:00 this Saturday, so doing it at the club won't work. I have tables and a bit of terrain at my place, though, and anyone is welcome to join me there after work for a game or two.

If not, then maybe Tuesday? I have Tuesdays off, so if anyone else does we could meet at Corner of the Attic. The third and final option would be next Saturday, the 11/07. I'm not working that day, so we could play that morning at Corner of the Attic, if that's more convenient than traveling out to Altona, or in case anyone is afraid of old houses positioned near the ocean that are built without right angles.

Yeah, those Fallshirmjager's are tricksy guys, to be sure :D

I could give you a quick game tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 30-6) or the week after that. As my last order hasn't come in yet I'm down 4 25pdrs for my full 8-gun battery of doom, but i have enough spare bases to be creative ;)

As for the Sherman, no worries about using them, i can leave them with Paul tomorrow if you want. they're not put together at all yet (guns and turrets not glued on) so if that's ok, you can use them for as long as you need.

Todays no good, I'm stuck at work until 5, then I have a panel in the city. Umm, this weekend? Tuesday next week? Weekend after, the 11/07?

And yeah, if I could use those Shermans, I'd be very gratefull.

Paul's got the Sherman's in the shop for you to borrow.

And next Tuesday suits me best, if that's okay.
