Paul I wasn't talking about mind games or their suppliers, there are a few independant stores out there, you should go and see what they are doing (what they stock, what is their biggest seller etc), talk to them about advertisement etc. what works what doesn't etc. work out some questions that you would like answered, I'm not saying its gonna be easy but I'm sure you would find some people who would help you out, by using the experience of people who have already been there, then there is more chance of your store being successful and less likely to fail to problems that you hadn't forseen but they had already had to deal with or how to deal with suppliers that are a pain in the bottom to deal with etc. Michelle also had an idea you should look at maybe advertising in the coffee news you find at the local coffee shops. I know I'm no big business man and I know it wouldn't be easy to run a business, just trying to give some ideas, get your mind ticking over, I want you to be successful because I want to see my mate succeed and also have some where, where I can buy my games and miniatures and to come and have a game. I'm with Chris also on gaming space and I concur with Craig on the stuff under the tables, but with the new store I'm sure this would be remedied. Edited by pAgan, Sep 1 2009, 07:06 PM.

Where in your quote did I say I didn't? However for a quite a while you were on to me about back to base-ix like I had control of it, also saying that you can get it quicker than I can, when at the time you wouldn't have been able to... After listening to you, I'm talking back, you had no idea B2B was shut, neither did I, I only recently found out they'd moved and were now doing wholesale differently to how you'd go about getting things direct from them. I know what you're saying T-J, The interesting thing with some of it is that the things that are popular elsewhere, aren't here. Warmachine is huge everywhere, yet there's nothing over this side for it. How many of you know I have warmachine models and a catalogue instore? We were going to have some people come over from Archepelago to demo the game until the shop was shut. Archepelago hobby centre sells more in warmachine than they do in Gw. Coffeenews was a thought as well on a few occasions. I'm also lucky that I do know other people who either import their own items or have access to items I do not, (flames of war players are happy most notably). Generally Suppliers are ok, with the exception of one in our history, because I am to them, what you are to me, a customer. The amount of alternative games to Gw out there is mindboggling. One of our suppliers alone has a list of companies they get stock from that scrolls down a couple of pages on a screen, with stuff I've never heard of and wonder if anyone out there is remotely interested in. Stuff under tables, no where else for it to go really, and it was generally just terrain that people placed there. I may stuff it under the tables again just to annoy you all My $60 church will pass its light and see through stained glass onto another project. |

I liked having a place locally that i could go down to with no pressure to be there at en exact time, and (most of the time) get a game. I liked that you kept stock of alternative stuff, stuff that cannot be found even at Mind Games and i liked how much the alternative stuff costs. I liked that there was good car parking so my car wasn't left on the streets of werribee. I liked being able to by a can of soft drink. I liked being able to stroll in and just chat to ya sometimes. I disliked the amount of space. I disliked the lack of Eftpos(already solved =) ). I dislike Ordering stuff that would be available at MG or GW immediatly, and waiting weeks for it. I dislike the prices (Out of your controll i know). I disliked using the toylet :S, I disliked the few times i was there when you were supposed to be open but weren't. I think with more space, places to put our cases, and cupboard or place to store extra terrain, it would be just fine. |
