Thank you 99 players for caring for the sim. I know things are a bit jumbled but we are really planning the events to have the attacks happen soon. Now to that end things will get really jumping and to voice concerns I am proposing a Player Issues Panel. Yes my idea of humor. PIP as in Pippy Longstocking. But seriously have someone that you trust to take your concerns and issues to the staff. So how does that sound? Okay, so on the website BSG99.com you can nominate your choices…. Military, Civie, and Cylon. Lets see how it goes. |

Definitely the same nominations for me. Cylons - Leslie Lightworker Military - Traci Quandry I think both of them have shown that they can interact with the players without a lot of "favoritism", for lack of my brain functioning. On the civilian front, it's just a matter of a civilian being here consistently. |

Why do we need one per area tho, instead of just one for all? |

They kind of did this in 21 with one for each area. i was the Cylon one. I dont think any players ever came to me for anything though and the positions eventually just fell to disuse. |

They were used a lot for civilian and military issues. Usually Mags or I was the one starting the discussion and trying to get things resolved. I think that when umm.. 22? or whatever it was, was up and going we did a lot of kind of going back and forth, but it got to the point that I couldn't do it anymore at least not be apart of one group and be active in the other. I think it's important to remember, we need to remind the players who they can talk to. Owners, GM's, these PIP's. I suggest a notecard be given to them when they sign up, sending it out monthly, just as a basic reminder. It's important for the players to know who they can go to. *steps down from the little soap box* sorry guys. I just know that if we put our heads together and minds to it, we can pull 99 out of the so to speak funk. |

I don't think you need this type of group. You have a good ammount of admin staff/GM/owners on at any given time and players will speak to the ones they like to speak too. |

I would have to disagree, WHY? because I know many of times that the owners of 99 have not been on 99 to take care of things. Kevin Ghost being my RL husband, can't always be there at night, Kzru my SL husband shouldn't carry all of the responsibilities as well. Honestly, none of the owners should have to bare all the weight, all the time. We are adults, we should be able to act like them. Something that we have seen in the past not happen, and having a huge impact on others. Starting a group like PIP, gives players a chance to talk to someone outside of the GM/Ownership circle. Someone that is a player on 99 just like themselves. A sound off board so to speak. Something very similiar was on 21 last year, and I was one of them. Though at times, it seemed like it was us against Management, we at least got the players concerns or problems voiced, and we stuck with what we saw until we saw it changed. Every person has the choice to or not to talk to the PIP's but I would hope that everyone would take into consideration the importance that they are providing to the owners and GM staff in making things smooth and progressive. Being a RP ran Sim, there is bound to be times that no one will make something happening easy. |

If i recall the Pet in BSG-21 was a huge Issue caused lots of fights from what i saw, and created a huge seperation in the sim with several of the admin and players. Of course that was seeing it from the outside, so it maybe wrong. PIP or Pet or player relations once you make a player this are they really a regular player? If they have no power why would they want to listen to the complaints? Thats the managments job isn't it? You have many people in leadership areas I see them all in the group chats. The way you find out what problems are happening is being in sim. Yes we all have RL and SL lives. You know what players are thinking or doing if your in sim. Personal experience I use to listen to players bitch about certain people in other BSG sims and i would stand in chat range and watch these same people that complained go and rp with they same person they would bitch about. I would just laugh and ignore the complaints.99 has a good group of managment and Gm that cover a good selection of the timezones. They all should be able to be their for the players. I have always been of the mind set and sure shoot me but if you are a leader in a sim such as a BSG then you should be focusing your efforts in the BSG sim you are a leader in. It creates an issue of conflict when you are in another like sim and both sims need your character for something or i both sims have a rp event. happened in several sims i have seen just not BSG sims. Doesn't mean you can't roleplay in them but why take a leadership postion? If i was a leader in trek-69 i would not be roleplaying in trek-33. Why not just make these PIP players GMs or admins? to subdivid a smaller group just to listen to player issues but not have any "real" and then possibly having issues, just seems a burdon as too helping. |

Well, I dont see any 'bad' coming of it. But the moment you make someone, call them a player, something with a title, I dont see it any different from a GM, Admin, PET. People view them differently and fact is, all of us Owner, Admin, GM, Builder, Scripter, are all first and foremost, players. We're just players with kick, ban and return rights. I know people in 21 viewed me differently when I was given that 'title' in that sim. Like I said, I was made "player advocate" in 21 and it seemed mostly to be a way to placate players and make them think the admins of the SIM were going to listen more to them meanwhile most of the admin team went off and continued their business as usual. That, of course, was 21 and this is 99 so we can see where it goes, if anywhere. If anyone thinks PIP will fill the gaps when an admin isnt available is probably kidding themselves. Its just another group that also will have gaps in coverage. People need to put on their big boy and girl pants and deal with issues like rational adults if no admin or owner or PIP is around. If a compromise between two of these adults cant be met, then they need to ring the bell and go to their opposite corners until someone is around who can. Edited by CylonSix, Nov 3 2010, 04:38 AM.

Here is what I have found a couple times so far, and no I will not name names. A player has a problem with a admin, or GM, they have come to me a couple times. Being sim owner in one place and admin in a couple others, I see the owners POV, I also am just another player here so I see the players POV. I have listened to the complaints, smoothed some feathers, let it boil down to the core of the problem, past the hurt feelings. I have several options open, explain the owners POV and ideas/actions on things. Many player are reasonable if they can get it off their chest and or back, and get a chance to understand what is on the GMs mind. Owners admins/GM tend to be focused on the bigger picture and accidentally or without malice end up stepping on someone for that goal, hardly a sin. Once both sides hear the other without the defensiveness of pride and whatever things seemed to smooth themselves out twice as fast. I can go to said admin/GM and talk to them directly without everyone getting defensive and adding to the drama admins already have loads of. they tend to not get I am admin I say goes, or players, I am going to bad mouth your sim across the grid. Does it always work?? nope. Has it worked so far? yip. I do not enjoy being a middle women, but I enjoy the sim, so what the heck. If the sim decides to eliminate the PIP position, that too suits me, more time for other things. As far as limiting myself to one or two sims, not going to happen, I like various themes and places and elements, no one place has it all for me, If it does for somebody else, great. If, I am going to be "held down" to one sims positions, and demands. I wish them luck. (grammar sucked, point made) |
