I figured I'd post this up without the RP example and edit it in later so that it's not just sitting in Word collecting dust. Also, most of her family members don't have names because they'll never be referenced outside of this post. Any characters who will eventually be talked about/make appearances will be given names accordingly. Name: Saffron Baisley Gender: Female Birthday: Spring 2nd Age: 30 Appearance: Saffron is of average height and a bit on the thin side, with most of her weight being made up of light musculature. She has a young face with bright eyes, a strong (but not overlarge) nose, and somewhat thin lips that are often pulled up into a wry smile. Her hair is long, thick, and wavy and most often pulled into a messy bun at the nape of her neck. She has her mother’s hazel eyes and hair shocked white from the trauma of finding her father’s dead body as a child. She’s never seen without her canvas bomber jacket, work boots, and painter’s hat, and there’s a tiny gold ring inlaid with garnets on her left pinky. Chibi by Daniella :D Family: Grandmother - The only family member Saffron still talks to on occasion. Her grandmother practically raised her after her father died and her mother became obsessed with her new husband and his precious children. Despite living on opposite ends of the world, they're very close. She's also the current guardian of Saffron's daughter. A flirty woman by nature, Saffron’s grandmother never fails to charm even the youngest of boys into doing her dirty work. She despises old women who’ve “lost their spark” and refuses to bake cookies on principle. Uncle - Her father's brother; he lives near his mother and occasionally helps out with Saffron's daughter. A "good ol' boy", he's honest and hard-working, if unjustifiably prejudiced against anyone/anything that doesn't fit his narrow world view. Father - Long since deceased, Saffron's father was a major influence on her life. He introduced her to the world of flight and sparked her interest in becoming a pilot. He was a very insecure man who was never comfortable with any decision he'd ever made. He ended up killing himself when Saffron was seven after he mistakenly assumed that his wife was cheating on him with his brother. In reality, they were just conspiring on a gift and a surprise party for his upcoming birthday. Mother – Originally a flighty career woman, Saffron’s mother grounded herself in the precepts of marriage after her first husband’s suicide, clinging to the stability that being the perfect housewife could give her. Living in an almost constant state of depression, she has failed to realize that she forgot someone very important along the way – her own daughter. As it is, she isn’t even aware that she has a biological grandchild. Step-Father – Her mother’s second husband. A genuinely nice guy, he tried to reach out to Saffron and build a proper relationship only to be shot down at every attempt. Known only for his tenacity, he’s never given up trying, and to this day is one of the few people who has truly garnered Saffron’s respect – even if she doesn’t like him. Step-Brother #1 – Five years older than Saffron and four years older than his brother, Step-Brother #1 is an insurance salesman who thinks he owns the world. He’s lived his life believing he is on top and no one’s ever had the heart to knock him off his high horse, least of all his wife and six kids. He fears nothing and no one, save Saffron, who knocked him on his knees and gave him a swirly the first day they met. Step-Brother #2 – Only a year older than Saffron, Step-Brother #2 is the child who replaced her in her mother’s heart. A spoiled little Momma’s Boy, he goes to her mother for anything and everything – including next month’s rent. A single father of one, he gets to see his son on alternating weekends, provided that his ex-wife is feeling generous enough to hire someone to drive the kid out to his apartment. For him, the day the restricting order his ex-wife has against him expires can only come soon enough. Half-Brother – The child born when Saffron’s mother thought she was past her prime, Half-Brother was given anything he desired, whether it be the newest toy, entrance into the snootiest private school in the country, a brand-new car, or even his own apartment. A decent person deep down, Half-Brother’s kindness is often overshadowed by his snobbery and elitist world views. He has an odd habit of focusing too heavily on details and missing the big picture. Daughter – Born under questionable circumstances, Coriander has been living with her great-grandmother since she was very small. She’s a highly adventurous and gung-ho girl with stamina enough for an entire kindergarten class. For her, no tree is too high, no rock too steep, and no river too deep. She’s always ready to traverse any trail – even the ones that haven’t been found yet. Unfortunately, her physical capabilities aren’t always willing to comply with her mindset. Residence: Above/at the back of her shop. Her house is a large, two-story, plantation style home. It has four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, two living areas, a parlor, a kitchen w/breakfast nook, a dining room, a laundry room, an attic, a basement, a garage, and a hangar out back. The hangar has been sealed shut for quite some time, and no one has ever seen what she keeps inside of it. Her house is rather far from the rest of the village and overlooks the beach from a distance on one side. She lives there by herself. Occupation/Shop: Originally a pilot who did her own maintenance, she retired to a life of tinkering and machinery building after a certain event occurred. She now runs a garage where she builds, maintains, and fixes farm equipment. She also takes care of emergency maintenance on the ships, helicopters, and planes that land on the island, should they need it. Her shop is comprised of two main rooms: a small parlor at the front of the house where purchases are made and customers can wait for their repairs, and the garage itself. History: Saffron was born to Mother and Father in Chicago, six months after they got married. Her mother was constantly at work, trying to advance her career, while her father was in and out of a job every other week. Despite how busy their life often was, she was happy, and she thought they were too. The summer before first grade, her father was working with a small-time airline as extra security and was forced to bring her along one day while her mother was working and her grandmother was down with the summer flu. It was there that she first gained an interest in planes and flight in general. She went home that day with dreams of becoming a fighter pilot in the air force. Forty-eight days after she turned seven, her father committed suicide over a silly misunderstanding. With her mother being at work at the time, Saffron was the one who found his mutilated body hanging from the ceiling fan. The trauma of the event shocked her hair white and had her seeing a psychologist for years to come. Her mother quit her job after her father’s death and spent most of her nights at bars getting horrifically drunk while Saffron stayed home and fended for herself. It was during this time that Mother met Step-Father and started seeing him. Not long after she turned nine, her mother married Step-Father and moved the two of them into his multi-million dollar estate in California. She met her two step-brothers and decided they were both spoiled brats who didn’t deserve her attention. After their first meeting, they were perfectly happy to ignore her as well, leaving her mostly alone inside that enormous mansion. It was here that she learned to truly appreciate solitude. When she was thirteen, her mother became pregnant with Half-brother. Saffron thought that maybe with a new baby on the way, her mother’s attention might finally shift away from Step-Brother #2, but even Half-Brother couldn’t tear her eyes away from him. She got into the top high school in the country on grades alone and graduated Valedictorian with a full-ride scholarship into Oxford University in England. While at Oxford, she met a certain person whom she connected with intimately. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and started working with a major British airline while completing her Master’s degree. Months after she started her internship, she gave birth to her daughter, Coriander, but quickly gave her up to the first family member willing to take her so that she could focus on her schooling and work. After obtaining her Master’s degree and beginning work on her Ph.D, a certain event occurred which caused her to leave Britain and head to quieter shores. That’s when she moved to Bluebell Village, a practically empty town that didn’t even have a proper schooling system in place. It was there that she settled down and began running a maintenance and repair shop for the farmers in the area. Not many villagers know of her past or family, but with her grandmother’s waning health, that may come to an end soon enough as she’d be the only one left to care for her daughter. Personality: Distant, yet genial, Saffron can often be found enjoying her solitude. Once you get to know her, she’s logical to the point of being obnoxious about it, easily annoyed by younger people, and rather self-indulgent. She’s extremely well-read and a damn good debater, but despises talking about both religion and politics as she considers the headliners of both to be complete imbeciles. She’s not particularly egotistical, but she is by no means modest and refuses to talk down about herself out of courtesy to others. Saffron is a person very much shaped by her own past, and though she claims that she holds no resentment towards those who have wronged her, her bitterness occasionally shines through. Likes: Logic, pragmatic people, animals, planes, motorcycles, spicy food, and sweets. Dislikes: Men, girls, romance, and religion. She also despises potatoes, peanuts, and alcohol of any variety. Personal Belongings: Way too many to list. She has a fully lived-in house of belongings. I can describe some of the more important ones later if you'd like. Extra Profiles: Coriander “Cory” Baisley Age: 8, upon introduction Birthday: Fall 15th Appearance: Small, yet athletic with poofy hair dyed silver to match her great-grandmother’s. Her hairstyles and clothing change constantly as her great-grandmother enjoys using her as a dress-up doll when she’s not mucking around in the dirt or climbing rocks and trees. The only feature that seems out of place is her gray eyes – no one on her mother’s side of the family has that color. Personality: See “Family” section. Occupation: Elementary School Student Role-play: Edited by Mizuki, 16th January 2011 - 04:36 AM.
