With jaflores not being able to participate and damnyankee playing as Portugal, the roster of FTMW4 has been finalised. Bonzoman and wowwars will act as replacements if needed. Again i am really sorry we cannot accommodate more players. Since the roster has been finalised, players are now welcome to open their embassies. |

Guys one thing about formal treaties. The thread about the treaties should only have in the formal treaty and then 1 post by each of the participants where they will sign the treaty. Discussion should take place in a separate thread. Once all the participants have signed it, I will lock it and then it can only change by mutual agreement of all the participants. |

Can we play extra time this coming Sunday because most of us probably won't be able to play during Christmas (2nd session)? |

It is difficult to extend the session because for those of us being in Europe, the end time is a bit late. |

You can find in the FRMW3 forum a new thread about an overview of what japan did during the last game. I would like to enourage people to write about their countries as well, summing up what happened during the last game. |

gosh how i wish i could play this (can't cuz im at church at this time). The saturday one is lacking deep diplomacy as in this, as most merely just talk on TS, 90% of it non-game related. lol sigh |

Let's say that two parties are forming an offensive alliance and want the terms to be binding but private? Is there a way to do this? |

This is something i was thinking about. How can we have private treaties. One easy solution is for people to message the treaty to each other. However this is easily altered/edited. Another way is to send it to the GM, but obviously this has the danger of people finding out about the treaty. It would be nice to implement such a thing. However I have no good idea right now as to implement it... Any ideas guys? |

Such private treaties are not our concern, tbh - you can make a private treaty all you like, but it's a private treaty; why should the other side lose prestige for breaking it? Shady dealings behind closed doors are what they are. You enter into a private treaty at your own risk, as the other player is not going to be punished for breaking it. I'd say that's both historically fair, and makes diplomacy an interesting choice between announcing your intentions to insure them against betrayal, or keeping them secret and having to trust your ally. As an addition to this, something I was toying with was the idea of deregulated treaty penalties - rather than just having a flat prestige % penalty for breaking a treaty, let the treaty members stipulate it as a part of the treaty itself. So, for example, when I make a peace treaty with Prussia, we agree that the penalty for breaking it is 50% of prestige; meanwhile, I agree to a fixed-term alliance with France with a premature breakage penalty of 5%... I'd say such a system is pretty much self-policing and self-regulating, and would add an aspect to diplomacy which we might otherwise miss out on. We can even alter the mod slightly so that the prestige penalty in-game is removed completely to do so. |

On one hand the self-regulating prestige penalty about the treaty is interesting. On the other hand, it will be another point of negotiation that will probably make signing the treaties even more difficult. it would useful to see what the other players think. |

what is the difference between a secret treaty and someone who offers an alliance after a war has already began to get more support, which the other side had no clue of. |

Ok the game information thread has been updated. The mod link posted there is the one we are going to use. There are going to be no more changes. I would like to ask players to install the mod and make sure they have the correct checksum as soon as possible. On Sunday, we are going to start at 19:00 GMT sharp. I am sorry to say this, but there is not going to be any waiting. We will not wait for people to sort out their installations, get the correct checksum or anything else. Anyone not ready will simply be picked up at the first rehost. Everyone has now enough time to prepare his installation. If you have any problems, post here and you will receive help and instructions on how to fix it. |

You failed to read the Build thread: "IMPORTANT: delete your Victoria 2/map/cache folder before loading the mod. This allows the game to regenerate the map to take into account the addition of Vaduz province and the borders displayed for the province/region reorganization changes. Failure to do so may lead to a CTD! Checksum shown is obtained after rebuilding cache, exiting, and reloading the game." |

Private treaties shouldn't really cost prestige points if broken because only the governments of the countries involved know about it. |

Yeah guys, you need to delete the contents of the map/cachefolder. This migh actually change the checksum temporarily, but once you load a game once and restart Vicky, you should get again the same, correct, checksum. Rye you can choose another nation. Kind of difficult for you to be Sweden since we also have a Denmark player. Available options that I can think of at the moment are Persia, Egypt, Belgium. I would really not like to have just 1 player in S America, so it would be best if you could stick to other parts of the world if possible. |
