I can't let DEFAULT be UK, both Magister and DEFAULT know why.

 ?? I have an idea why you won't let him play as the U.K. As for why you can't let him, I have no idea.

:D

If only I had the Steam logs of Magister bitching about DEFAULT ruining the last MP, not doing any diplomacy, not talking, taking other peoples claims in Africa with no discussion, and me bitching about DEFAULT, like him taking part of Argentina as the OE, and Magister fully agreeing with me. I also remember when choosing nations, Magister fully opposing it when I brought up DEFAULT as a potential Austria(as did I).

So, you may keep thinking I'm not letting DEFAULT be UK because you think I "MUST..WIN..", everyone is entitled to their opinion, just know that Magister fully agrees. :P

Of course it's natural to be aggrieved when you lose a war or colonial race or whatever. I don't know the age or maturity level of any of you guys but it is only a game and you shouldn't take it too seriously. Just because you might lose once to someone you don't have to hold grudges into later games especially over a year later.

To be fair to Lotos I really shouldn't play as the strongest Great Powers. Everytime I have in the past it has taken coalitions with most other Great Powers to be able to challenge me and it kind've ruins the diplomacy of the game. Alas, I guees that is the burden I must bear for being this good. Then again saying i'm only allowed to play as Chile, Colombia or Peru is just pathetic, you wouldn't even let me be Greece.

Whether you are making decisions for your own benefit or not is irrelevant, as long as there is only one GM there will always be the suspicion that you are. Maybe someone else should be co-GM to avoid anyone thinking that in future.

Oh great.. now I'm gunna have to let you be a GP next time just so I can prove you aren't the best player here. >.<

If there is more than one GM, the right decisions might not be made, as arrogant as that sounds. In my opinion, this MP has been one of the best Vicky 2 MPs thus far, and I'll go ahead and brag and say it's because of my rules(Magister had a role in those too), and my being picky with the roster, among other things. That's completely subjective though, too, people who liked more of a free for all thing with less diplomacy may have liked the previous rules, but there's a reason a lot of the Vicky 2 MPs were ending early.

I'm fine allowing Default to play as Britain, but I'm also fine moving the session one week back. Should we open a poll?

Excellent. Please post an embassy, I apologize you only have 1-2 days to conduct diplomacy before the session.

edit: I might do a poll if people wanna extend or not.. Let me think.

I recomend you to open the saves to pick goals and get aware of the situation. Mind that alliances ingame do not represent always real alliances; some are for convenience of seeing how the others wars are going.

Problem solved? I still think it's pretty fair to miss this session, as Magister won't be there, and the NGF has things it really needs to do very soon, anyway.

Out of interest, what's DEFAULT's past record? I know of his exploits with Gran Colombia, but aside from that?

So, if everything seems appears to be fixed, we would only be postponing because Magister can't make it, even though he has a sub? Not enough of a reason, if you ask me; as we didn't postpone for the times that Japan, Brazil, Portugal, Sweden, couldn't make it, and they didn't even have subs.

Speaking of which, wouldn't DEFAULT like to switch into Portugal or Sweden?

Oh, I didn't realise Magister had a sub, Personally, I would postpone to avoid having the NGF AI'd during the 1870s. You do need military competency for the health of the game.

Japan is seriously regrettable, but the others? They can probably coast for a few years. It's not super competitive with Sweden, or Brazil. I may have postponed for a missing Japan, if it were critical (as it stands, due to diplomacy, Japan isn't likely to get annexed, just slowed down, so it's OK).

So, if we have the subs in position, we can just play tomorrow and see how it goes :).

Looks tonight's session is off, but there was talk of a speed 4 one-time game. I'm interested in a speed 4 game if anyone else is. I'll check the forum again when it gets closer to 6pm EST.

If anyone interested with a high-speed & reliable internet connection can host, say so. I've got a temporary living situation right now and they just have DSL and it's probably not a good idea for me to host.

I'm worried Magister won't be coming again, I think he would've posted by now if he was back.

I might want a restart if he doesn't come.. we'll talk about it in TS.

Regardless, do you have a save? I have one from 1867, but I can't remember if that's when we finished or not.

We finished in 1873.

We can discuss the reset thing if you want in TS, but would be sad after British defeat and coming down :).

Oh yes, I do have a save. I'll do the edits anyway, and if we end up resetting, oh well.

This piece by Engels is pretty interesting, the theme is that ceding Lombardy and Venetia to Italy was in Germany's interest. Unfortunately, the Victoria 2 combat engine is too simplistic for me to follow his advice about fortifying Vienna, and we have house rules preventing me from following a diplomatic path.

If we do restart, we should just scrap the game, find suitable players for the absences, and start a completely new game later in time.

But I still don't think we'll have too - unles Magister really doesnt appear.

We should not restart only because Magister may be absent for one session. This game is a good one!! What's with all the restart talk?

I agree, there is no point in talking about restart. And well, Magister did not say anything about not showing this time, but the last week. So we should we fine, with the exception of Japan absence (again :().

I may be ~20-30 minutes late, because of a debate that's just about to start. I think I'm the only one with really, really awkward timezones, so I hope it doesn't put you all off too much.

Sorry :(

Restarting because a GP is missing seems completely absurd. If we did that every time, we would never be able to play the 100 years of the game.
