Imperial Japanese Missive to the North German Federation Crisis has happened in Japan, supporters of the shogunate have thrown away everything we have been working for in the last decade or so and seek to keep the Emperor as there puppet. Japan is in a very bad position and it will continue to grow worse, to stop this we humble request that the North German Federation make Japan part if it Sphere of influence until we have reached a point of modernization. After that we wood hope they would remove us from their sphere. In compensation Japan is willing to pay up to £750,000 by 1880. Is this agreeable to the North German Federation? - Imperial Japanese Ambassador |

While concerned about the new granted privileges, Russia understands that traditional monarchies cannot stand against modern winds forever, and such concessions are reasonable as long as the King keeps his Royal Powers granted by God himself. Actually Russia is considering a similar regime where Aristocrats have a say in domestic policies. After all, the court system is not so different from that, and the Emperor has no time to get over every detail. Emperor would of course still hold the power to impose his Will at any moment. With all this, Russia would like to express her support to the German Monarchy. No matter how liberal the aristocrats are - family ties keep Russias Monarchy linked to the fate of German Monarchy, and no affront will be allowed. Russian Monarchy is ready to put any power required by German Monarchy to stick those liberals to the Holy Manners. |

OOC: Vicky uses 'Upper House' because there is a simulated lower house in Democracies, for picking the winning party (that takes coalitions into account). Basically, people vote for the lower house based on political interests (party loyalty, actual policy etc), and the upper house based on ideology (liberal, socialist etc). The Upper House doesn't actually have anything to do with elections. |

As you can see Chile is asking for a renewed alliance with your country. Frankly, after their recent suprise attack without even declaring war, we would be shocked if Germany was to endorse such behaviour and continue this alliance. These rules are the product of hundreds of years of noble war conducted by Gentleman. To throw them away so easily would be to throw away civilised society itself and we would become no better than animals. We have always respected the proud and honorable German people but if you were to continue support such barbarism I have to say you would lose the respect of not only the Peruvian people but i'm sure many many others around the world also. ( I don't have a flag anymore)

The North German Confederation will wait for the results of ongoing arbitration regarding the dispute between Chile, Brazil and Peru with reference to Rule 19 before signing documents which may prejudice the outcome. We look forward to the final decision before proceeding with diplomatic arrangements. |

As our diplomat has, once again, been requested to leave Madrid, we have no other place to debate Spain's barbarism. As the German Monarch is well aware, Carlos's gang forcibly removed the rightful queen and heir to the Spanish Empire, Isabella II. Surely we are all witnessing God's wrath upon the Spanish people for such a crime against his chosen. If we examine legitimate Kings and rulers, such as Queen Victoria, King Wilhelm, the Tsar Aleksander II, Emperor Ferdinand, King Vittorio Emanuele II, King Wilem, and King Pedro II, we see God's blessing as these rulers have brought great prosperity to the men they rule despite great obstacles standing in their path. These rulers were tested by God and have made rightful and correct choices, receiving God's blessing. If we examine Spanish decline under Carlos, Spain has not seen anything similar to prosperity under a (/God's) chosen King. Isabella was the rightful and chosen ruler and it is blatantly obvious that God is punishing the Spanish kingdom for her removal some years ago. Spanish prestige, the Spanish economy, the Spanish military - all things the international community holds dear - the Spanish imposters have failed at. There is no other explanation other than God is displeased. |

The North German Confederation is sorry to learn that dialogue between Madrid and Washington has ceased. Nevertheless, given that the latest communiqués exchanged between both parties expressed such ferociously hostile sentiments, perhaps a period of suspended diplomatic relations will be beneficial.
The U.S Secretary of State is always free to speak his mind either on the North German Foreign Ministry or via private correspondence with the Auswärtiges Amt.
The North German Confederation respectfully disagrees with the assertion that Isabella had any right to the Spanish throne. The child princess was used as a pawn by liberals seeking first to undermine and then to overthrow the Spanish monarchy. The sentiments of the North German Confederation have been made abundantly clear on this subject. (For further details please consult our statement regarding the Spanish succession
The North German Diplomatic Corps does not claim to know the mind or the will of God. While we are truly grateful for the blessings bestowed upon the various monarchies of Europe, we also acknowledge that the Most High has generously rewarded the U.S.A and the many pious republics in Latin America. However, the path of worldly success and the attainment of heaven are not necessarily the same. We imagine that at the Gates of Heaven we will not be judged on the vastness of our territories or the industrial capacity of our states. When standing before the legion of angels, we doubt that the pressing question will be about the size of our armies and navies. If these outward signs were indicators of divine favour, then the Romans were God’s chosen people and the Christian martyrs were the evildoers. Indeed, the mind and the will of God is not revealed to us. Even the divinely appointed monarch—whose authority flows from heavenly grace—must labour to live in accordance with the precepts of his faith. We content ourselves with the words of God Himself: “Just as the Heavens are above the Earth, so are My ways above your ways and My thoughts above your thoughts." |

We did not mean to imply that God bases our worth on the size of our armies, industrial capabilities, and territories. We do, however, believe that God blesses those who do good in this world, and believe the evidence is clear here. You accurately described what God does not judge us on, but we wonder: what are your thoughts on what God does judge us on? Do you think God will judge the Spanish on the enslavement, rape, murder, and subjugation of Christians on Earth? |

![]() The North German Confederation views the great injustices perpetrated by the practice of slavery as an affront to the Christian faith. We reiterate our strong and forceful condemnation of all nations engaging in the practice of the slave trade and the maintenance of the institution of slavery. Moreover, that the enslaved have in large numbers embraced the light of Christian truth makes the practice of slavery all the more outrageous. Though the North German Confederation is a predominantly Protestant state, both Protestants and Catholics living within our country jointly reject slavery. The Spanish king styles himself the Most Catholic Monarch yet stands in violation of the Papal bull In Supermo Apostolatus wherein the late Pope Gregory XVI denounced slavery and the slave trade. Excerpts from the Papal proclamation: In the process of time, the fog of pagan superstition being more completely dissipated and the manners of barbarous people having been softened, thanks to Faith operating by Charity, it at last comes about that, since several centuries, there are no more slaves in the greater number of Christian nations. But - We say with profound sorrow - there were to be found afterwards among the Faithful men who, shamefully blinded by the desire of sordid gain, in lonely and distant countries, did not hesitate to reduce to slavery Indians, negroes and other wretched peoples, or else, by instituting or developing the trade in those who had been made slaves by others, to favour their unworthy practice. Certainly many Roman Pontiffs of glorious memory, Our Predecessors, did not fail, according to the duties of their charge, to blame severely this way of acting as dangerous for the spiritual welfare of those engaged in the traffic and a shame to the Christian name; they foresaw that as a result of this, the infidel peoples would be more and more strengthened in their hatred of the true Religion. … We reprove, then, by virtue of Our Apostolic Authority, all the practices abovementioned as absolutely unworthy of the Christian name. By the same Authority We prohibit and strictly forbid any Ecclesiastic or lay person from presuming to defend as permissible this traffic in Blacks under no matter what pretext or excuse, or from publishing or teaching in any manner whatsoever, in public or privately, opinions contrary to what We have set forth in this Apostolic Letter [End of Excerpt] We know King Juan to be a pious monarch and urge him to abolish the practice of slavery, not only for the benefit of his country, but for the welfare of his soul. |

The incoming Swedish socialist government wishes to proffer a warm hand of friendship to the North German Federation and invites the German government to discuss matters of mutual interest in the Swedish capital, Stockholm. We hope to advance matters pertaining to Swedish foreign affairs: including but not limited to military agreements and matters of economic importance such as the high trade barriers between our countries. |

Chile would like to be the first to officially congratulate the German Empire for its victory over France. Although European affairs have caused our bilateral agreement to be suspended in the past decade, we hope that with the accomplishment of your European goals we will resume our partnership. Chile is already grateful to the German people for their support in training the Chilean army not simply to good international standards, but to German standards. |

Greetings to the newly formed German Empire from the French. The Germans and the French have had very limited diplomatic relations since the July Monarchy reforms started in 1836, however now, we would like to restart and fix our relations. Despite our two wars, we believe disputes between Germany and France only holds both our nations back more. We congratulate Berlin on successfully unifying the German states, and hope our two great empires will both prosper, together, and keep close ties. We have a proposal for Berlin, however just know, even if you decline, we will still look to increase relations with our northern neighbour and avoid conflict, but we do think this proposal does benefit us both, and will help grow said relations. The Treaty of Epinal This treaty entails the following: The French Empire - France agrees to cede the entirety of French Dai Nam, AND Laos to the German Empire, to give them an equal presence to other European powers in East Asia, and to further help them dominate and monopolize the tropical wood/rubber industry. - France agrees not to station any troops on the Franco-German border. ![]() The German Empire - Germany agrees to cede Alsace-Lorraine back to France now that Germany has unified, and to give us both a better, nicer looking, more defensive border. - Germany agrees to cede the Niger Delta OR Benin to France, to allow us to connect French Nigeria to the sea. - Germany agrees not to station any troops on the Franco-German border. - Both parties will allow free movement of peoples in and out into only the province and city of Strasbourg, from both Germany and France. - The territories must be ceded in the next session, for both parties. Penalty for breaking the treaty: The person who breaks the treaty will lose a total of 125 prestige(if troops are left accidentally at the border, we won't do the punishment for that). Signatories: [X] []Signed.

His Majesty Juan III would like to thank the German Kaiser Wilhelm I for his gracious letter of Spanish development of her armed forces, and the abolition of slavery. Concerning the German capital investments into the nations of Columbia, Venezuela and Ecuador, we can guarantee the funds that were allocated will be reimbursed by the Central Bank of Spain, once each nation is individually annexed, the amount invested from that nation will be paid out accordingly. Spain shall pay out an even sum of 152,000 pounds to Germany in the end, we hope this is satisfactory for the German Kaiser and the commercial sector of the German Empire. Signed, Spanish Diplomatic Corps |

A delegation of Russian businessmen has arrived at Santiago. Along with Russian diplomats, they're offering the possibility of Russian investment in the region. Their most interest is in a liquor distillery in Santiago city itself, and would like to know what is the Chilean government opinion on the matter, seeing how friendly it ahs been towards foreign investments and how much prosperity this brings to Chile. |

![]() The Chairman and the DPRUN wish to express their condolences for Wilhelm, as the day one loses one's father is a dark day indeed. However, we should also advise him that monarchies are a corrupt and failing institution, and that he should reject his 'title' and allow the German peoples to progress.
