We understand Austria has no interest in an exchange in the Arabian peninsula and Red Sea.

Still, the offer is on the table on Russian behalf. Maybe sufficient economic compensation from the Sultanate would change Austrian mind?

:BIAUS:
With regret, the new Austrian Minister of the Interior, Viscount Taaffe, has an insatiable appetite for opium (it was his desire to obtain a steady supply which compelled Austria to establish its presence in Oman). To deny him his opium would cause far too much political infighting in the Austrian court. Emperor Ferdinand blames his Irish ancestry.

The Sultan has understood some time ago, that the Arabian Peninsula was far to valuable for one nation to hold. Therefore has not expressed any intent on taking Oman from the Austrians.

He also notes that Tsar went far beyond what was expected to solve the dispute, to which we thank. The Ottoman Empire will not pursue the claim on Oman at this time.

Russia will not pursue further the matter, as it seems settled all in good friendly manners. We look forward for future cooperation.
