This pact is a Mutual Defensive Alliance, not offensive.

Terms of this document

1. In the case of rebellion on the Iberian Peninsula, if containment is needed by the nations within this pact, they must have a expeditionary force on stand-by to rid of rebels in said nations (Spain and Portugal).

2. In event of invasion in either Portugal or Spain, the other is inclined to help defend the peninsula from attacks. IF the aggressor nation is in alliance with either, they shall remain neutral in the conflict. (This portion of Pact can be modified during its duration to make sure both parties are satisfied, no penalty shall be enforced if changed.)

3. A De-Militarized Zone along the borders of Spain and Portugal, which is clarified by troop stations of more then 3,000 men. Fort construction is permitted and encouraged.

4. Both Spain and Portugal recognize the claims made by both nations, and also recognize the colonial holdings already in possession by both nations.

5. This agreement shall last until 18-- (end of session), and may be renewed if both parties feel it should be extended to a later date.

6. The penalty for breaking any of these clauses is: 50% reduction/transfer of treasury. 20% reduction/transfer of prestige.

Signed Mark by both nations

OOC NOTE:

(1) I believe a violation of Clause 2 (the "alliance" part of the treaty,) would carry the penalty specified in Rule 22.

Quote:

22. Dishonouring an Alliance will carry the penalty of -20% points of the violator’s prestige.

While violations of other clauses in this treaty would carry the penalty outlined in Clause 6.

(2) Clause 5 would have to be revised, as per Rules 21 and 23.

Quote:

21. Alliances are valid for one session. Alliances may be renewed if desired by the contracting parties between each game-play session.

Quote:

23. Treaties other than alliances contracted between players requiring a time-limit (Example: Non-aggression pacts) are only valid for one session and my be renewed each session if so desired.
a. A violation of treaties other than alliances may stipulate their own penalties in the document's text

OOC:

Due to these rule infractions brought upon me by Magister, The Iberian Pact has been modified accordingly to meet game requirements.

Clauses 2 and 5 have been modified, and require Lord Snoopy to look over the document once again.

Will this stay in place should the Carlists lose the Civil War? I'm guessing not.

Spain wishes to extend this treaty, we hope the Kingdom of Portugal can continue the peace and prosperity we both share.

Mark as of 1848.
