The Treaty of New Orleans - Both parties agree to enter into a defensive alliance, including spheres, against class A powers. - Both parties agree to enter into a one sided offensive alliance, where only France can call the US into an offensive war, and not vise versa, and both agree to fight in any wars France calls the US in. - France must peacefully transfer Grand Bassam, Ivory Coast, in Africa to the USA, at the start of the session. - After any first war France calls the US in is over, win or lose, France must give the Statue of Liberty to the US. The prestige penalty for not giving the Statue after the conditions is -100 prestige. The prestige penalty for not giving Grand Bassam is -100 prestige. The alliance penalty is the normal alliance prestige penalty per the rules. [X] [X]Signed.

:BIUSA:We are pleased that you wish to continue our defensive arrangement. Chile has no objections to the United States remaining neutral in a possible Brazilian-Chilean conflict, although that possibility seems more remote by the second given the state of Chilean-Brazilian relations. With regards to Easter Island, if it will help the United States in their colonisation of the Pacific the Government of Chile is willing to lease the island as an American military base for -say- 20 years, after which the islands would be returned to Chile. |

Grand Opening of the Statue of Liberty![]() Grant's 1873 Speech Excerpt (Audio) Today, President Grant gave a speech in New York City marking the grand opening and unveiling of the Statue of Liberty, a gift from the French in supporting liberalism and freedom throughout the world. As a recent report from the French Association for Research & Prosperity revealed, the United States of America ranks #1 in international prestige and the Human Rights Development Index. We are proud of the achievements made by the brave men of these United States. Let lady liberty now and forever be a beacon for all who seek a new life in a new world!! ![]() |

Regarding the Monroe Doctrone:The US now declares the Monroe Doctrine defunct. Due to complications with entangling alliances in South America that hinder democratic growth and do not serve US interests and the high cost of defending South American countries who are often hostile to the US, we can no longer stay neutral in the politics of South America. We intend to seek full alliances with Chile and Brazil to subdue the rogue nation known as Peru. Peru has repeatedly shown to be a thorn in our side and has many times taken advantage of our good graces. As such, we cannot offer full protection for any South American country, and must now be selective in choosing our relations with these sovereign nations. Please note that many nations remain to be US spheres and we intend to defend these nations with the full force of the U.S. military. |

We thank the United States for their support with regards to the Peruvian annexation of Easter Island, and for honouring our bilateral agreements with regards to it. Chile will not forget your help, and we will gladly form a tripartite alliance with the United States and Brazil to further protect our national interests. On top of that, Chile is wondering what happened to the idea to form a trans-american Union? Has the United States and Brazil abandoned this plan? Now more than ever it seems appropriate to progress with the establishment of such an organisation. |

:BICHL: Following a growing sentiment of comradery between the United States and Chile, based on common love for the New World, Chile puts forth the following Treaty for ratification (or amendment) by the US Congress and the President of the United States. The Communist Uprising in the United States of America The year 1886 marks the death of the great American experiment and the start of a new one: democracy has failed in favor of a single absolute power -- the state. In decades past, the U.S. government murdered and maimed those loyal to the plight of the common man, but upon seeing more than one million rising against the evils of capitalism, the U.S. President, Rutherford B. Hayes, ordered the military to station along the East and West coasts to protect the shoreline from invasion only, with orders NOT to engage those seeking political change from within. Today, we honor the near 300,000 American lives lost in the glorious revolution. The Ten Planks of the American Communist Manifesto ![]() First Plank: Abolition of property in land and the application of all rents of land to public purposes. Second Plank: A heavy progressive or graduated incometax. Third Plank: Abolition of all rights of inheritance. Partially accomplished by enactment of various state and federal "estate tax" laws taxing the "privilege" of transfering property after death and gift before death. Fourth Plank: CONFISCATION OF THE PROPERTY OF ALL EMIGRANTS AND REBELS. The confiscation of property and persecution of those critical of government policies and actions. Fifth Plank: Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. Sixth Plank: Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State. Seventh Plank: Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan. Eighth Plank: Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies especially for agriculture. Ninth Plank: Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country. Tenth Plank: Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production. |

His Excellency, Presidente de la República José Manuel Balmaceda, extends warm greetings towards the People's Republic of America. Despite the ideological differences that exist between our two states, Chile hopes that relations between us will continue to grow and that our two nations will continue on their path of friendship and comradery for years to come. (OOC: Chile hopes that the P.R. of America will still be friends with the vehemently-anti-liberal-but-we-kinda-like-socialists-but-not-really Chile The socialists aren't even close to securing government majority... its always the bloody liberals followed by an early election won by conservatives/reactionaires... Damn you Germany and your liberal immigrants!)
