The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies does not find the current conditions of the treaty to be satisfying. Namely:
In regards to the question of The Papal States, only relinquishing influence should our country become a Great Power we believe is not enough. There are two reasons for this: 1) low probability of achieving said status in the short term, and 2) annexing The Papal States early on would actually facilitate achieving GP status significantly. Therefore, we would require France to unsphere them and not in any way impede the annexation. Once the issue of The Papal States has been sorted out, we would expect similar french cooperation in regards to other minor italian states.
This seems fine. We may add that in exchange for facilitating italian unification, to begin with on the Roman question, our country would withdraw from supporting any party with which France has a conflict in the north of africa for a set amount of years (say, until 1860).
Also seems fine, as long as this not involves France herself sphering us.
We're also willing to accept these conditions. In regards to the renovation of the treaty when it is required to do so, more study is clearly needed but our country has no intention on going against the spirit of the agreement. |
