*Interim Government*

El Presidente 'Generalisimo' Santa Anna, ex sovereign of Mexico, Savior of the Brazilian and Latin people.

"While Mexico will always be in my heart, the heart of the Latino community is no longer in Mexico City. Rio de janero is the new heart of the Latin American community, and it is here that the people have called for reforms of all kinds, starting with the changing of a 'Liberal Party' which has elected me the leader of the new Latin American Union party. We call for a unification of all Latin American people under one flag, free of European oppression.

While we are no great power to stop the Europeans with force from their oppressive conquests, we will indeed be a safe haven for all the fleeing refugees of the world who wish to work in our luxury furniture factories or build clippers with their bare hands and a hammer (artisans).

We are interested in taking an isolationist role to international politics during the current transferring of government power into my care."

The Republic of Chile would like to welcome the new interim Brazilian government, and we hope that you will honour the obligations set forth in the Treaty of Sao Paolo, 1873 (Renewed 1883).

The Spanish Foreign Office is puzzled by the Brazilian government electing a dead man, Santa Anna who died in 1876, to office of President.

Also, the goal of Brazil to unite all "Spanish Peoples" of South America seems a bit confusing as well, due to the fact Brazil has many more ties to Portugal then Spain.

We shall send a simple warning to the new Brazilian government, do not interfere in Spanish affairs of annexation of Columbia, Venezuela and Ecuador.

The previous administration was once a close American ally, but after the United States has submitted to Spain's proposals for our nation to rightfully retake our lost colonies, we are hoping the Brazilian government will go along with the Treaty of Balboa's terms.

Signed, Spanish Diplomatic Corps

(OOC It's an alternate universe, in this one Santa Anna got rich off bringing bubblegum to America and bought his way back into office and out of obscurity (and eased his cataracts with medicinal marijuana he found in Cuba) which helped him take back the center stage in latin american politics and add a few more years onto his life. Duh where have you been?)

Foreign Policy isn't the Brazilians number 1 concern at this point, however European recolonization is not something the Brazilians can openly embrace.

OOC: I wanted you to know that the Mexican player, posing as Santa Anna betrayed the Spanish in the Mexican-American War during the first session, Santa Anna in Spain is an enemy of the state, so the Cuba thing would never happen :P.

(OOC Oh well that screws up my storyline lol, I will have to work on something when I have more time I guess.) We are ashamed, we had never seen him in person we assumed it was the real Santa Anna, his briberies seemed real enough. We will have a new election post haste.

Salute to my predecessors who brought me here, while we have scorn for your policies and hopes for the changes we will implement, you tried your best. (OOC not teching the Social thought chain in the Culture tech tree hurts a developing nation, twice so in the Americas as that tech adds to your colonial migration (Can't remember if that effects migration from your big cities to your colonies and smaller cities or if it helps your immigration pull from other countries, either way it's good) and helps your education efficiency so we can get these men capable of working in factories.

Brazil-Peruvian Non-Agression Pact, 1883

The Kingdom of Peru would like to continue the friendly and peaceful relations which it has enjoyed with the Kingdom of Brazil for so many decades. As monarchies we are both enjoy a superior form of government and there are no causes for conflict between in the future as there hasn't been in the past. In order to do this we suggest the signing of a non-aggression pact.

Article 1

1.1 The Kingdom of Peru and the Kingdom of Brazil enter into a non-aggression pact with one another. They vow to not attack each other or side against each other in a war or crisis.

Article 2

2.1 The penalty for breaking the terms of the present treaty will be 100 prestige points.

After some rushed diplomacy and review (of what I have missed and possibly what I am walking into) I have decided the following, assuming a GM allows me to do these things:

- I will sign the alliance with America in return for continued economic and diplomatic assistance.

-I will not be renewing any other alliances or treaties unless forced to by a GM.

-I will not be signing any NAP's unless they involve USA as well.

-I will bring liberal democracy and education to the people of Brazil.

-I will ask for occasional GP alliances only so that I may watch the drama in europe if I get really bored in Brazil fixing a failing industrial economy.

OOC: Why is Brazil walking away with a clean slate and Chile has to deal with Brazil's unwillingness to go forth with plans agreed on FOR A WEEK with a mere 20 minute warning before the game starts?
