Russia is grateful that Sweden is willing to overlook the past, while this is a victory to compromise on both sides we admit that our long-term alliance to Denmark and reflexive counter-claims were a greater slight in terms of time than the Swedish claims which cost us 1 stability and some worries; and as such we will seek to assist Sweden in making up for lost time), and looks forwards to supporting its expansion into northern Europe through diplomatic and military support and even limited economic means. Though we amicably disagree with the conflict against Brandenburg, it is undeniable that the Swedish state is a force for stability and prosperity in northern Europe. It is with utmost faith in the future that Russia hereby announces its alliance with Sweden, which will be enacted as soon as our diplomat returns from Perm. Have no doubt though, the word of Russia is its bond. Should anyone attack our allies we will defend them until the bitter end. We are also currently negotiating a royal marriage with Sweden. |

If the swedish rather not be allied to the Royal Crown we can understand. As we are both of the same lineage we assumed cousins or members of the same family would be interested in an alliance. We just do not see the need in sending our soldiers to die on some far eastern land called "poland". The alliance can be removed if requested. |

Relations updated. We don't appreciate Britain's actions, and if this belligerance continues we'll be forced to pursue a hostile stance towards the British in the future, up to and including invading the Isles. |

The Rise of Carolus Rex Charles XI (Latinized to Carolus Rex, or 'Charles the King') de Bourgogne of Sweden rose to power in roughly 1647 A.D; he is widely regarded as one of Sweden's most important monarchs, and one of its best. Charles XI was raised in the royal court in Skane; from a young age, his striking intelligence and upright demeanor were obvious. He had a habit for engaging in lively and deep conversations with his tutor and other adults; many remarked that he was beyond his years in knowledge and maturity. Even at a young age, he took a keen interest in the Swedish Empire's military and governmental affairs. He was noted as having exceptional social skills, and seemed able to talk his way out of most situations. These attributes stayed with him throughout his life, and would prove useful when his father died, leaving him as nominal King of Sweden at the age of eleven. He would remain under a regency council until the age of fifteen. As soon as he became King in his own right, he was presented with a sad sight: The Swedish Empire, an increasingly backwards and seemingly in decline state of Northern Europe, an Empire that had been beaten back by Prussia time and time again. It had lost all of its land around the Baltic Coast to Prussia, and it was predicted that more losses were on the way unless drastic change was instituted. The first action of Charles as King was to assemble an offensive coalition against the Kingdom of Prussia, Sweden's traditional foe, consisting of France, the Ottoman Empire, Sweden, and the Dutch. At the age of sixteen, he issued a formal declaration of war against both Austria and Prussia, causing Great Britain and even the United States to intervene in order to get revenge against France, a nation on Sweden's side. The first coalitionary war against Prussia was a complete disaster. Prussian forces caught the Coalition's armies in a series of horribly planned battles, and nothing was able to stop the slaughter. Prussia forced Sweden to yet another humiliating defeat, forcing the ambitious young King Carolus to pay roughly 500 ducats in war fees for peace in the face of mounting opposition to the war at home. Charles XI was furious; he refused to accept this loss, and consulted with his allies. It was agreed that another war would be declared in five years. Personally, he decided to make his own changes in the time of peace... Noting the effectiveness of the Prussian military, Charles instituted a series of sweeping reforms to bring Sweden up to Prussian standards along with his own innovations. These new soldiers, trained to his specifications, came to be known as "Caroleans". The Caroleans used highly aggressive tactics to overcome their foes. They were instructed to march forward towards the lines of their foes without fear - For if God meant them to die, they would die anyway. They were not to shoot until they saw the whites of their enemies eyes, and following this they were to draw their arms and charge the foe. In addition, Charles reformed the leadership of the Swedish Military. The incompetent head of the military was dismissed and replaced with a highly competent man from Stockholm named Karl Gustav Prinz, noted for his highly effective and precise movements on the battlefield, and for maximizing his troops' damage potential. What he was not so much known for was his mobility and picking the best spots for battle in general. The second Coalition war was remarkably more successful. Austria was almost fully occupied and forced to surrender. It could be said that France and the Ottoman Empire had the men - And Sweden had the leadership. Swedish troops were heavily outnumbered by their allied counterparts, the real contribution of Sweden being their tactics and Gustav Prinz's skilled leadership. For the most part, officers and other leaders in the war effort were Swedes, bringing the aggressive tactics of the Caroleans and applying them with the rest of the Coalition's forces. Without the overwhelming numbers of their allies, however, it is reasonable to say the Swedes would not have gotten far. Following this? Charles' Caroleans invaded Prussia. During this, another important reform occurred: The semi-parliamentary system of Sweden was abolished, and Charles XI claimed the crown for himself and himself alone, stating that it was by God and neither the church nor the nobility that his power came, making himself stand by the growing absolutist states in Europe. The outcome of that has yet to be determined... |

It is time that our great familys infighting ends. You are unchallenged on the field of battle, while we are unchallenged in the sea. The Bourgogne Empires should join together, not in union, but in an Alliance and exchange relations. |

Relations updated. Perfidious Albion and the Muslims are not to be trusted, it seems. Sweden would also like to announce the following: We will fight this war to the death. The Swedish Empire is the backbone of this alliance against the Austrian menace. We will not abandon our allies; instead, we will crush and bring death and ruin to our foes. You want a surrender? Occupy every holding of the Crown and we'll talk. That means you, Britannia. That means you, the Ottomans and Mughals - We are coming. BE AFRAIIIIIIIIIIID |

The enemy of peace, heir of devastation, herald of death. Christians and Muslims now agree on how evil you have become. To say we are of the same family is a disgrace, you must of been a cast away child of one of my great ancestors. |
