The game will begin on August 30th Saturday, two weeks from now. I will be finalizing things in the mean time as needed.

Quick note on how I expect the game to be played. This is a friendly competitive game:

By friendly, we are to not take it personal when another player attacks us or takes something from us. However, although backstabbing and deceiving are not against the Rules, I would like players to exercise reasonableness and fairness. If you do not wish to get backstabbed/deceived, I suggest you get the opposing player's words into writing by signing a binding treaty with him; make sure you read the terms thoroughly to fully understand implications. We've had players who conned others into signing really bad treaties.

By competitive, i mean that there will come a time when a player might go against your interests, take something from you etc... I expect players to show maturity and play on, rather than ragequitting over a game. I understand running your country requires a lot of investment and you become attached to it, but it does you or the game no good if you simply ragequit or get emo over it. You will merely be ruining your chance to play a fun Victoria game with over a dozen people weekly. No one is entitled to any thing, not even your own starting cores.

I also expect to have lively forum diplomacy. There are many past games which can serve as examples as to how to make enjoyable diplomatic posts. Please read them if you are unfamiliar. Try to air your grievances or address concerns as much as you can in forum.

Also, players who played in AoD3 will tell u, money is a precious resource in the mod. Try to think twice before taking drastic actions. This isn't a game where you can run everything at max and fight major wars over and over without having to face financial difficulties. Artillery units are especially costly, as are forts and ports. However, interest rate is lowered and more money can be borrowed from the AI pops, so that mitigate things if needed. I am thinking whether i need to make adjustments for the mod, i will release finalized version a week before the game.

Read the Rules. The rules are designed to facilitate a smooth gameplay. If you have a question about the rules, ask. If you want to take drastic action but unsure whether rules allow you to, ask before doing so

Last, but not least, I am available and willing to discuss any issue you might have with the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

I expect everyone to have steam account for messaging and post the screen name in the proper thread. Treaties involving players who have not posted their screen name will NOT be valid.

I have made default rule on what a non-aggression pact means. Please read, thanks.

I just have to say this about treaty wording. You are required to be as specific as possible. Anything that is worded vague and ambiguous will be drafted against you if there is an alternate reasonable meaning.

Furthermore, unless there is something specific in the treaty that prohibits a certain conduct, i will be allowing players to act as reasonably as possible.

Example of a specificity of forbidden conduct is a defensive alliance, which by rule means a player is required to defend a player who is being demanded a wargoal. There is no going around it.

An example of non-specific prohibition is what just happened today. What happened today is under the provision "does mean that should one sign they may never go to war over any African territory again with another signer." Looking at it, it has occurred to me that there is alternative reasonable meaning as to this phrase, from the point of view of NGF, for example. It is completely reasonable for NGF, for example, to think that the phrase means he is allowed to join the war because he is going to war against Belgian wargoal, not African wargoal. As such meaning is reasonable, it will be upheld over the asserted meaning [that NGF is not allowed to join in the war].

If the treaty drafter wanted to prevent NGF from joining, he could've and should've worded it as "signer cannot join in a war where there is an African wargoal involved". This is very specific and there is no alternative reasonable meaning as to what this could've or should've meant.

So, rule of thumb is: If you are a treaty drafter and you want what you write to mean what you mean, always ask yourself whether there is an alternative reasonable meaning as to what you wrote. If there is, what you wanted it to mean will not be used. If there is not, it will be used.
