The reign of president Miguel Barragán has begun! Yucatan and Rio Grande have been defeated, and now only Texas remains. The new leader of Mexico has grand, grand plans for the future. Domestic policies of the President: - Spread education among the poor and middle classes, as to ensure a smart population. - Abolish the role of the caciques, the Indian nobles, and enact large-scale land reform to distribute it more fairly. - Abolish the tributary system and centralize the Indian pueblos. - Enact reforms to end the discrimination of Indians. - Settle Texas and California with mestizo settlers. - Modernize the army, disband the irregular regiments and replace them with a trained, motivated Mexican army. - Push through more democratic reforms, as to gain the support of the lower classes and attract more immigrants. - Curb the power of Santa Anna. Foreign policies of the President: - Bring the USCA back into the fold and restore the borders of the First Mexican Empire. - Defeat the Texan settlers and safeguard the northern territories from aggression. - Establish a Mexican expeditionary corps. - Encourage good relations with the United Kingdom. - Encourage good relations with the United States of America. - Increase Mexican standing in the world.

With the destruction of the Texan state and the newfound glory of Mexico, the liberal warnings against provoking the US were found to be inane. Conservative generals had spearheaded the formation of the New Model Mexican Army, which had beaten the Texans easily. Furthermore, the last military strongman in Mexico, Santa Ana, was found dead under mysterious circumstances. Many accused the liberal president of Mexico for arranging his murder. In response, the conservative army revolted. With the death of the credibility of the liberals in Mexico, the conservatives, under leadership of the generals Martín Cos and Pedro de Ampudia, conquered Mexico City and deposed the liberal president and the liberal faction. With this, they proclaimed conservative rule over Mexico and officially declared Mexico to be an empire, once again. The Mexican Empire, reborn! The rebels officially invited Franz Karl to become Emperor of Mexico, the father of Maximillian. His arrival was greeted with a great procession in Mexico City, but contrary to what many feared, he was quite the liberal monarch. He ensured a free press and has been working on voting rights for more people, appeasing the liberals, while keeping the conservatives happy. With his conquest of Honduras and Haiti, which he personally commanded, he gained great prestige and ensured great popularity. But the Emperor seeks to conquer all of the USCA still, and perhaps, even more. All hail the Emperor! All hail MEXICO! |

As Argentina's only ally with any military to speak of just got destroyed, we currently seek a new guarantor against the evil Empire of Brazil. Can the Argentinians count on the mighty Empire of Mexico for an alliance?
