Welcome to Sweden... jag är vän med alla
Due to an expected abdication by our almost senile monarch the Swedish crown only waits for our chance of prosperity.

Sweden looks forward to coming to an agreement over both Finland and Schleswig Holstein. Both we are looking for a fair offer to acquire.

It brings great sadness to the Tsar to hear about the abdication of the King of Sweden, he was a good and renown commander stretching all the way back to the Napoleonic wars. But we greet the new government and hope for a good future, the Russian government however does not feel the need or the desire to give up the nation of Finland. It is an important part of the Empire, both in terms of resources as well as ports and as such we do not feel the desire to sell it.

The Kingdom of Sardinia wishes to formally express its gratitude towards the people of Scandinavia for their loyal support during the recently ended war. The sacrifice made by the scandinavian people will never be forgotten, and as long as The House of Savoy occupies the throne of our nation Scandinavia will have an eternal ally in us.

The Kingdom of Sardinia also wishes to offer the services of our diplomatic corp as mediators in the conflict with Prussia over Schleswig-Holstein. While we wish to make clear that we regard the entirety of said region a legitimate possession (and in the case of its southern half, a vassal state) of The Crown of Sweden, our diplomatic staff will nevertheless be approaching both the Scandinavian and Prussian authorities to weigh the matter, as we believe the best possible outcome will be achieved if a peaceful and mutually beneficial solution is found, as to avoid an impending prussian invasion of the scandinavian peninsula, which would no doubt cost tenths of thousands of lives from both sides.

The British Empire hopes that a peace satisfactory for both sides can be reached and this needless war be brought to an end.

In 1818 Charles john III was declared king of Sweden and Norway. A man of war and one of Napoleons original 18 marshals Charles knew his only hope for a united northern region was to take it in the name of Sweden. By 1836 preparations to end Danish sovereignty were put into motion in order to claim the title of emperor of Scandinavia. In 1840 however a diplomatic defeat was suffered when the Russians finally declared the northern precedent; Russia will not support Scandinavian unification if Finland is involved. With this direct rejectment Charles made one final decision as king to remove Finland from a unified Scandinavian De Jure. With this act Charles put Albrecht Dreissen, a Prussian lieutenant who fought in Hanover against Napoleon, in command of Sweden's armies and officially abdicated to his son Oscar, first of his name.
Oscar pushed for a new allegiance to the French and called for Albrecht Dreissen to immediately prepare for war with Denmark. Liberating Shleswig-Holstein Oscar quickly became popular with the people and swiftly passed more conservative reforms through Swedish and Norwegian parliament. As his hunger grew Oscar gained an alliance with the French in order to strike at the Russian crown while they were weak. Despite a decisive effort, Charles's decision to release De Jure claim from Finland was found legitimate and during peace talks the Scandinavian government gained nothing. Quickly Oscars allies turned on him, the french broke all official alliances along with the duchy of Holstein. Oscar, desperate for the peoples support finally called for war against Denmark. Dreissen's decisive victory in the battle of Copenhagen instantly ended Danish resistance, allowing Oscar I to declare the kingdom of Sweden and Norway dismantled and a new Union of Scandinavia to be made. Despite his progress Oscars popularity drifted further and further from the people as his reforms gained him more and more power.
Oscar believing himself unstoppable declared his enemies outright in Russia, Prussia and England, earning him the title Oscar the salt spear. With this act the Prussian government decided to launch an offensive on behalf of the English and Russian governments into Scandinavia. Claiming the right to occupy Shleswig-Holstein and to free the free duchy of Holstein from the Scandinavian sphere of influence Prussia pushed forth into sovereign Scandinavian territories. With the help of grand admiral Ludvig Ehrenstam Scandinavian shores were kept clear from all but four Prussian landings in which Dreissen defeated and captured every Prussian army that stepped foot onto Scandinavian soil. At the battle of Scane Albrecht saved duke Carl's force from near destruction and earned considerable influence throughout Scandinavian parliament.
In 1855 Brazil joined the Prussians on behalf of the English and sent the grand fleet into the Atlantic. When Admiral Ludvig's flagship was sunk in the bay of Blight the Scandinavian people were done fighting. The conscription had taken its toll on the farmers from every region in the north and the looting had destroyed loyalty in every region in the south. King Oscar was called to abdicate by admiral Ludvig Ehrenstam on July 10th 1856 and on September 1st 1856 emperor Albrecht first of his name was inaugurated.
In order to reestablish stability within Denmark Albrecht signed the Treaty of Malmö and declared peace within the north once again. despite earlier disagreements, relations with the french were reestablished and despite serious diplomatic strain Albrecht sent duke Christian the second to broker an alliance with the Russians. Initially unwilling Christian was able to convince Russian diplomats of Scandinavian strength and loyalty. Today Scandinavia has ended the tyranny of Oscar the first, come to terms with the Prussians in the Holstein question and finally found a reliable ally within the European hemisphere.

THE SCHLESWIG WAR
1856
[/align]

The Kingdom of Prussia is pleased to have reached an agreement with the Scandinavian Union regarding the end of the Schleswig War in a manner satisfactory to both parties. We have had the opportunity to speak in some detail with the Scandinavian Government and have come to better understand the misperceptions which characterised the rising tension and eventual breakdown of relations between our countries. Having resolved many, though not all, of the matters which separate our foreign policies, the Kingdom of Prussia remains hopeful to maintain productive dialogue between our countries.
