[size0]Why the Sicilian Bourbon monarchy uses the insignia of the Kingdom of Savoy for the flag of the unified Kingdom remains a mystery. [size0]

"Only through unification can Italy be saved! For too long have the many little Italian states been the playing field of the great powers of Europe, playing nation against nation, brother against brother, to the detriment of all players, even those holding the strings.

It is time for Italy to speak with one voice, to work towards one goal and to follow Europe into the modern age. In order to do this we must set aside our differences and capitulate to our common history. Worry not, my fellow Italians, for I shall guide you through these tumultuous times."

- Ferdinand II, King of the Two Sicilies and claimant to the kingship of all Italians.

Posted Image

"My father died shortly after the unification of our common Kingdom. From the new capital of Rome, I shall continue his policy as the representative of all Italian peoples and look to work with our closest neighbors for the common good of Europe."

- Francis I, born in 1836 and just 24 at the time of his ascension.

Posted Image
[size0](The Kingdom of Italy regards itself not as a continuation of the Two Sicilies, but all Italian realms. Hence Francis is the first of his name) [size0]

Goals:

- Make the Kingdom of Italy a modern country under the auspice of the absolute king.
- Seek common interests with our neighbors.
- Settle the issue of the French majority region currently still under the auspice of Italy.
- Negotiate with our partners the right to manage a reasonably sized colonial venture.
- The Kingdom of Italy formally claims the state of South Tirol and province of Trieste due to their Italian majority, however it it believed that a diplomatic solution with the Hapsburg monarchy is possible and the superior solution in the long run.

News

- The liberation of Sardinia was celebrated in the cities of Cagliari and Naples, as the arrogant and frankly, ill-smelling Savoyard were forced to cease dominion over the island after Sicilian troops had complete annihilated their armed forces and occupied their capital city of Turin.

[size0]Celebrations in Naples at the news of the liberation of Sardinia from the Savoyard yoke.

- After increasing taxes to a nominal 100%, which in Italian cultural terms corresponds to a little below 50%, King Ferdinand saw fit to renovate the four royal palaces of Naples for an undisclosed two-figured percentage of the kingdom's treasury, citing the need for "A few extra trinkets" and "modern sewage" .

[size0]None of them ever exceeded the mind blowing proportions of the Palace of Versailles, but the Palace of Caserta (lower left) sure did try.

Austria can only hope that the unification of Italy is a forebear to the liberation of the oppressed South Germans and Czechs under the rule of the North German fist. We hope particularly that our donation of the Venetian and Lombardian lands to the Sicilian cause assists in dealing with the troublesome Redshirts that we have heard so much about.

The Emperor accepts the invitation to the private banquet and shall bring his sons and daughters that remain as yet unmarried.

Her Majesty, Queen Victoria I, sends friendly greetings to the rising power of Two Sicilies, and congratulations on reaching an agreement for the return of certain Italian lands to Italian control. The Italian people, just as the Germans, French, and all free people do, have the full support of the British government in determining their own future.

The Mexican Government congratulates the government of Sicily and hopes soon to hear of an Italian Unification. We do however wonder as to why the you would like to see the return of our monarch. Does your statement mean you plan on interfering in Mexican internal affairs!?!?! Our former king was a brutal dictator and hope never to see his like again and we are ready to defend the Republic!

Towards the unification of Italy:

The past ten years, the process towards a unified Kingdom of Italy. Following the peaceful transfer of the states of Lombardia and Venetia from the Austrian Empire and the direct assumption of control requested by the formerly independent states of Lucca and Modena, a few remaining minor Italian nations soon requested Sicilian hegemony. Only Sardinia-Piedmont and the Papal States now remain.

Posted Image

The aging and exhausted King Victor Emmanuel II of Sardinia-Piedmont is being swayed by promises of him and his descendants retaining their nobility and security as the future Dukes of Sardinia in the absolutist kingdom. Meanwhile, some resentment towards the unification remains, and his former adviser and known liberal agitator, Giuseppe Garibaldi, has rejected any compromise, fled the country and is now known as an enemy of Italy.

Posted Image
[size0]Italian authorities advice that any citizens report this man to the authorities if they see him. Do not speak with him, as liberal tendencies are known to be infectious.

Meanwhile, the man known as Camillo Benso of Cavour has publicly declared his support of the unification process, even if led by the Two Sicilies, and it is expected that he will take the position as ambassador to France to nurture the positive relations that have been achieved in the last few decades.

Posted Image
[size0]The eyes of a trustworthy man.

Pope Pious IX. also seems more pliable now that he has been promised complete tax exception in the entire kingdom for the Catholic church and sovereignty over large parts of Rome and the entire province of Viterbo. It now seems that the incorporation with Rome as the dual capital of Catholicism and Italy will be an unexpectedly non-violent affair.

The Italian administration would like to issue a formal apology to the Ottoman Empire, the Austrian Empire and the Russian Empire for calling them into our Italian-English submission of the Ukrainian breakaway state.

As we declared the war to celebrate the good relations between our states and Russia, to test the new weaponry of our armed forces and to dissuade such reactionary nationalist nonsense in the multicultural empires of Europe, we hope that the return of Ukraine is sufficient payment to the Russian Empire for our erroneous call to arms.

However we have no excuse for calling upon the Austrians and Ottomans and to make up for our faux pass, we will pay half a million £ to each party.

The dawn of a new century nears.

As the First Euroasian war draws to a close with Germany ceding their hold over the Czechs of Bohemia and Austrians in Bavaria, while the Spanish government committed mass ritualistic suicide and left their country to a mob rule after hearing the demands from France. Peace now reigns over Europe, if only because everyone is reloading their guns and fears the magnitude of the Austrian Great War "invention".

The war was undoubtfully an eventful one, as Italian lands saw the insurgents of many foreign countries. Doubtlessly the likes of the Scandinavians, Japanese and Persians saw the great worth of our Clay and wished to claim it for themselves.

The northern expeditionary forces also sent word of their capture and sack of Stockholm. The Grand Military Command still finds it hard to believe that the forces really made it all the way, and didn't simply get lost and partied in Murmansk, unable to tell the difference. However, if the rumors are to be understood, said "sacking" consisted mostly of 40.000 drunk Italians "strategically capturing" the Scandinavian royal wine chamber and a number of bars around the city, while complaining about the weather and arguing the finer points of "economic responsibility" with the locals.

The Monarchist faction in Italy, installed by the wise kings of Italy ever since unification, has not only started to pass certain social reforms, but the industry of Italy is ever growing and it is the top producer of explosives, small arms and machine parts and the second greatest producer of steel, second only to France.

Posted Image

However, not all is good news. King Francis II passed away four years after the end of the war and left the throne to his younger half-brother, King Alfonso I. The king wishes to continue the tradition of an enlightened, absolute monarchy, leaving no need for the masses to concern themselves with the dangerous world of politics.

Having served the Austrian-Hungarian empire in their reconquest, it is anticipated that the last remaining major Italian claim, Fruili, can be transferred, so that it can truthfully be said that there is no province with an Italian majority not under the ever watchful eye of the King of the Italians, with the exception of Nice which was given willingly for the French support of Italian unification and later reinforced by the gift of Tunesia.

And then the new century came, and with that, Italy hosted the 4th Olympics in the glorious city of Napoli, the spring from where the Italian unification took the first real steps from being a mere dream to becoming reality. Meanwhile, Italian explorers reached the furthest edges of the world, only to discover that they were cold, barren and that neither ice bears nor penguins were gastronomic delicacies.

Posted Image

The new century has also brought many new challenges for the young nation of Italy. First, the Pan-European peace allowed Italian intervention into the Chinese Empire's systematic oppression of the culturally and historically distinct Shanxi clique when their ambassadors plead for their peoples to the wise King Alfonso I.

Posted Image
[size0]Perpetuating rumors of opium bribes is, of course, high treason.

There may have been a few accidents along the way, however, but such things happen in wartime.

Posted Image

But not all Italians could see the benevolence of King Alfonso I, falsely accusing him of hoarding the people's money and investing in pointless overseas wars.

Posted Image

These vile lies led to, despite numerous social reforms, the communist uprising of perhaps as much as one million Italians, and amongst these traitors to the realm over 2/3's of the Italian army. The cowardly rebels were no match for the remaining true loyalists to the Bourbon monarchy and the unified Kingdom of Italy.

Posted Image
[size0]Seriously. 2/3 of the army became communist rebels in a few months and switched side a few days into the rebellion. I may need to reform a tiny bit..

Counted amongst the loyal opposition to the Marxist rebels were the newly founded National-Fascist Party of Italy - perhaps the fresh air the Kingdom needs to suppress the atheist and anti-Italian movements that are the parasites upon these modern times. With the falling support for the reactionary party (bordering on 5%), they may need to fill the gap as the vanguard of the nation's progress!

Posted Image
[size0]I find it slightly amusing that neither they nor the reactionaries will accept even North Italians as proper Italians.

There are unconfirmed rumors that the King may even allow changes to the realm such as permitting a constitution, allowing certain segments of the population to vote, albeit he retains the right to formally denounce the people's choice, should they choose foolishly. Certain liberal critics point to this being a mere ruse to allow the fascist party to be put in power, as ancient laws otherwise restrict the king from appointing anything but conservatives, reactionaries and liberals. These certain liberals were recently found dead after committing ritual suicide (a common ritualistic practice of the liberal minded) by jumping into the pit of mount Vesuvius.

His Majesty sends his congratulations to the Italian government in dealing with the foolish Communists and their foolish notions of governance. Marxism only brings ruins.

His Majesty Edward VII and the Right Honorable Henry Beatty officially asks the Italian people join with Great Britain in an alliance, in order to ensure that both our proud nations may weather the storm approaching.
