Well i don't know myself, but i've had this experience since i was little I would goto bed, and just before i dosed off, i'd be "Punched" awake, it's happened afew times now, and just started to get more frequent, it's not painfull, but i can feel the impact of a punch to my face and it wakes me up, it's shocking really. Just want to know what you guys think? is it something to do with phycology or science, or something else? |

Is it like suddenly you are like 'scared' of something? And you feel a shock all over you're body? If you do, you're having the same problem as me. It happens to me when I'm just lying in the couch, thinking of something. And suddenly....BANG!...I feel a shok, and I'm fullly awake... |

One of my old mates wont talk to me now as one time we were over at my house having some food after a late shift at work, then i was falling asleep on my chair in the living room and he was on the couch, it was pitch black almost and he was waiting for me to goto sleep so he could draw on my face (He likes to play pranks on sleeping people :P) then he walked up close and was just about to grab a marker pen when i jolted up and stared him wide eyed in the face, he screamed like a girl and ran out the house
now all he'll ever say to me is "Hi, How are you, Ok." lol

Sometimes when you're just going to sleep, your body is so relaxed that you quit breathing. You wake up suddenly with a jolt, or just start to shake in your sleep until your breathing passages open up again. When it becomes a reoccurring problem, it's called sleep apnea. That could be your problem, but on the other hand, sometimes people just wake up with a jolt. I know I do it, but it's usually accompanied by a dream where I'm falling. |

What wakes you up is just a spasm. I've heard of that problem on the discovery channel (yeah, I actually listen to that sometimes). Its a jolt you fell when you're about to fall asleep. Many people actually feel that all their life. It's a small nervous problem, and there was a solution, even though I don't remember it. At least know it's not spirits. |

This happened to me about three times. I am usually right about to fall asleep and then something will hit me in the face, it doesnt hurt though it feels like somebody hit with me a pillow. The second time was the wierdest here is what happened, I was drifting off to sleep when I heard a SPROING noise and then a strange voice go NYAAAH! Then I got hit. The wierd thing is I was facing the wall and I know for fact I did not hit myself. Maybe its asleeping condition or something it is wierd. It hasnt happened in a while though. Anyway what do you think is going on? |

Sleep paralysis or night terrors. Nothing serious there. People get freaked out, it's normal, because they see or hear stuff before or after they sleep. Almost everything in this forum has a scientific answer, except a few real unexplained stuff
. Here is info on sleep paralysis and night terrors:http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/paralysis.html http://www.aafp.org/afp/20000401/2037.html You might have to copy paste it into your address bar... too bad. It hasn't happened in a while because it dissapears in the beginning of puberty, in most cases. Some people have it all their life, but they learn to deal with it. |

my sister does that. She starts crying real loud, yelling for mommy. And the next day, she does not reember any of it, and the rest of the family is tired, because she kept us awake all night ![]() (I merged the two treads) |
