I can't listen to any music at all (instrumental or not) while I'm writing. Just like I can't hold a conversation when I'm driving, especially in heavy traffic. I'm all like "yeah I agree......" (five minutes later) "with what you're saying, but..." (fifteen minutes later) "I still think that..." (six minutes later) "what were we talking about?"
But when I'm drawing or animating, I listen to everything. Instrumental, lyrical, audio-books, etc.. I used to learn Irish from Audio CDs while animating ![]() What game music you listen to Darknez? I'd love to find the original Unreal Soundtrack in wav or mp3 format (Skytown in particular.. incredible). Reckon you could help me track it down? I still have the first tomb-raider Playstation CDs which, strangely enough, you can put into a CD player and hear the music. Got em on my iPod now.. really excellent atmosphere in that game, thanks in a large way to the music

I'm listening to the relaxing sounds of nature right now.. hahaha.. it's better than hearing Oprah, which my wife is watching on the TV next to me. I like the GTA: Vice City soundtrack also.. good variety. But everyone could use more videogame soundtracks

Hey Tordeck, someone introduced me to a Flogging Molly CD a few weeks ago at work. The guy at work saw my Prowlies movie and he said, "you know what music would go well with that? Flogging Molly" so I said 'gimme', and he lent me the CD. Bloody excellent, was my first impression

I downloaded the Final Fantasy Concert music that was performed a few years ago and listened to it constantly whilst revising for my GCSEs. Fully orchestral Final Fantasy music. It really is incredible. Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius. Shame he's now left Square-Enix because they worked him too hard. |

Ooh, Flogging Molly is pretty cool. I thought I saw them before on a site but didn't check them out. Their new song Seven Deadly Sins is right up my alley... I love The Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack, and anything to do with pirates. I realize they are mostly just an irish rock/punk band though. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me... drink up me hearties yo ho! |

Nah, we're still talking about Pirates
But I agree.. working continuously is beneficial.. you don't get distracted as much by other projects. BTW: Mike, come on AIM tonight and chat with me for a bit. I have a question for you. |

Pfft, Puny Mortals..

I have about 3000+ tracks ranging from SNES to Gamecube to GameBoy Advance, i should be able to dig it up fer yeh adam, if you have Winamp and want to listen to some oldies (SNES, NES, Genesis, Gameboy, playstation.. etc) goto Zophar's webby and look on the nav for "Game Music Archive" download the plugin for your console then download the game name and it'll have all the tracks from it (sometimes even including ones not in the soundtest or unused music) thats where i get most of mine from but for PC tracks there a little harder to find, but it should'nt be too hard, freind of mine has Unreal so i can prolly just get it stright from his disk, will keep yeh informed
EDIT: Easy peasy if you don't mind buying it though > Unreal Soundtrack<

YES! Thanks Darknez I'm going to buy that CD.. here's the song I was talking about (which I love so much).. it's only a 55 sec sample though. The actual track is about 7 min I think! Right Click > Save Target.. *edit* I just remembered a friend of mine from the old Unreal days (his name is mort, and he built my guestbook) told me about a program called Modplug which allows you to play various obscure music and sound formats, Unreal/UT music (*.umx) being just one of them. So just now I downloaded Modplug, grabbed all the music files from my Unreal game CD and I'm happily listening to Skytown right now aahh the memories.. brings a tear to the eye. Anyways, Modplug has a wav converter, and I'll send Skytown if anyone's interested. |

FhqwhgadsE2TL - If you goto the Utilities section, then pick the console you want a winamp plugin for, it gives a list of Stand alone proggies (Whixch usually eat at your CPU mem) or somewhere they'll be a Winamp plugin (Which does naff all to your mem :P) here's the page your looking for, the one you want is "Highly Experimental" PSF Players Enjoy |

On the subject of listening to music while working, I find it very hard to take information in while listening to music, so if I'm writing an essay or reading something I want to consentrate on, I'll turn my music off. While I'm drawing, on paper or on computer I'll normally have music on, no problems with that. When I'm animating in Flash I'll normally have music on, but if it's a hard bit of animation and I want to concentrate on it I'll turn the music off for a bit. While adding sound to a movie I'll stop listening to music so I can hear it, especially lip synching. I would agree that it's down to the individual, if it works for you that's all that should matter. Music is the best thing to drown out distractions. When I was working on the ecard with my friend, the sound of our mouses clicking would have drove us insane, so we had to put music on. It's funny how if you're making the sound, like when you're typing, or clicking it doesn't bother you... but if it's someone else, it can be the most distracting thing. |

yea.. why do we have a clicking sound on the mouse?! especially those loud klicking sounds mouses.. Why cant they make, a no-sound mouse, with a fake click comming from the speaker instead? (like my wacom-pen, it has a fake klick sound) ofcourse, I dont use the fake klicking sounds...And therefore, most people would end up having a silent mouse!:) (or maby most people use fake klicking-sounds, I dont know) The same goes with the keyboard. And especially those SMS-sending objects, with 3 letters on each number... |
