Beams Of Light Trouble

I've been trying for a while now to create some simple beams of bright light shining into a castle and hitting the floor. That, of course, sounds easy enough, but the windows of the castle are stained glass. In addition, the stained glass image is very very complex and the camera is facing the "window" directly (there's no perspective on the window). So far I can't get it to look convincing. All help will be appreciated, I'm going to experiment some more with it.

Set the color of the window.. like red perdsay

have a red light coming off of that area, make it have likea aplpha of 20% and make the color abit lighter then the window. That may work.

I considered that, but it slowed the entire scene down. That's saying something when you have a 3.4 gigahertz processor. Maybe I can simplify the reflection a bit....

What I'm really after is a good technique to display beams of light cutting through the air though...

Try taking the colours themselves out of the window's symbol - not the lines.
Then stretch them, with the Free Transform tool, use Distort (make sure they're not a symbol at the moment).
When you're happy with the shape of them, NOW make them a symbol, and Alpha them.

That's a good idea. I've been wanting to experiment with the distort option. I'll do that right now. :bing:

EDIT: Wait wait wait. Distort is part of the free transform tool. I've been working with that the whole time! :gasp: So much for a miracle tool. The colors are doing wonders though.
