ok ive seriously tried to figure this out every day of this week. I have a multi layer multi frame character animation that i want to transform into a symbol of one fram and one layer, that way i can just import the animation into any flash movie i make. IF anyone has the idea of how to do this please post or if im online send me a instant message on AIM: ALottagroove |

select all the frames and press Ctrl Alt C (or Edit> Timeline> Copy Frames), then Create a new Symbol (Insert> Create New Symbol), make it a Graphic (unless you want to control the clip with Actionscript in which you case you want to make it a Movieclip), then Paste Frames by selecting the first frame of your new symbol and pressing Ctrl Alt V (or Edit> Timeline> Paste Frames). Now the animation should be inside your Graphic symbol which you can drop into any movie you like. |

Another way to do it instead of ctr alt whatever is to highlight all frames, right click (cmd click on macs) on them, and select "copy frames". Go to insert>symbol You want it to be a movie clip if you want it to take up 1 frame but still play. After your clip is made, right- click the timeline and select "paste frames". |

Here is a quick video tutorial I made... there's no sound or instructions, but hopefully you can watch how it's done and see the steps. It's probably best viewed at fullscreen too.. Hope you're not on dial-up, and hope it helps
It's 8Mb btw, but when you unzip it, it'll be about 75Mb. download HERE |

I wouldn't normally use a motion guide for a walk-cycle, but I have done it.. it depends on what the scene requires. The way to make a motion guide is covered in my tutorial (Flash 5) on the top floor of Bitey Castle. Here's the direct link: http://www.biteycastle.com/moguide/lesson01.htm This will show you how to attach a firefly symbol to the motion guide, but it will work for any symbol, whether it's a graphic or a movie-clip containing a walk or run-cycle Glad you found the video helpful too! |
