I take it you have one of those wooden figures? If you're drawing with that as the reference, I'd recommend first choosing a realistic pose for it. Even if it's just a a sit or a slouch, it will make it seem more realistic than the over-exagerated dance you drew. (like the picture in the middle. Focus on that type of pose. But what do I know?)
Nice rendering :)

Tree-city is nice, too. There's nothing wrong with it, but maybe you could try to push the camera in there? Make the viewer feel emmersed in it, you know?

Hope I didn't come off sounding too harsh. They're both nice pieces.

PEVE

I like the mood you've created with this piece.

RUBBERHEAD

I declare thee photoshop god.

WHMIC-?

I agree with Comlock. They have the look of being copied from a photograph. I think it may be the thin lines, as Comlock suggested. Besides that, really solid.

i agree with what jem said bussman, personally, i wouldnt use one of those wooden figures, i bought one, and ended up never using it because its really not that correct. if you wanna do simple shapes, look at the human body, turn different parts of the body into shapes, then look at pictures of people and use those shapes according to the perspective and pose of the person.

they pictures look good, just not correct as far as an actual person would pose.

That is the cutest booger I have ever seen. :fpbls:

Bussman, go buy yourself a good anatomy book for artists... "Artistic Anatomy" by Richer Hale, "Bridgeman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life" by George B. Bridgeman, and Loomis's stuff are all great guides. Loomis is especially good for those on tight budgets because it's free! :bing:

Don't use that wooden monstrousity anymore. Dress it with funny hats or something.

Thanks Everyone for the reviews!

The only reason I bought it was that it was $8.99 at Michaels Craft Store and I said what the heck. It was also easier because everything was broken apart, I didnt have to turn the parts into shapes . . .

I will not use it anymore . . you have my word (it broke anyways)

Thanks Again everyone!

Hey Thirsty, prolly a stupid question but where did you get those markers?
I can't find them anywhere here, more "modern" art materials don't seem to be very populair around here, when I ask if they have Prismacolour markers for example all I get is a blank stare.

Love your absurdness BTW! :bing:

"Bridgeman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life" by George B. Bridgeman

I own this book and it is sexy.

Oh and Rubberhead, I got them at the local art store. I've seen them in most stores I've been to as well. Good luck getting a hold of them if they're rare where you are. :P

I've been inerested in Bridgeman's books, but there are allways people complaining his figures are hard to read. Can anyone elaborate?

1. The critics are jealous, no-talent hacks.

2. His faces tend to be light and perhaps a bit difficult to read, but his full figures are quite beautiful (if quite exaggerated, but for animators that's okay). He has a lot of energy and life in his drawings.

What did you expect?
A sketch of Bitey I did in math class. Boredom got the better of me and my mind wandered off into oblivion, what I found there? Bitey looking rediculously cute with a poofy tail.

Go on you all know that he would be so cute. He's so scrappy and bratty that a fluffy tail would make him totally glompable, cuddly, and just plain fluffy-wuffy adorable.

Posted Image

See? Now you understand. Don't ask about the pose, that was just an aftereffect of hanging out in oblivion too long.

Flirty sassy Bitey? *shrug* whatever works.

He would have been even cuter if he was looking at that fluffy tail with a "what the frill is that thing doing on me bottom?" look on his face. That would have been so much better... and cute, did I say cute? ^_^

The bigger/better version is here.

Got a question about the forum? PM me! :)
Nice Cole, the face especially, a couple crits though:

- The left lower leg is off.
- What's goin' on with that right arm?
- The right leg looks like it's further away from us but the way the right foot is position dosn't suggest that. it should be narrower, making it looked like it's facing us, with more shading on the left side.
- That is one helluva boney right foot o_O
- The shadow dosn't make sense at all considering the shading on the body :P
