That Simpson "wannabe" sketch was made with traditional blue col-erase pencil, and then scanned.

I dont know the size of you wacom tablet, but the bigger the better.
I had a small wacom volito before, and I couldent make anything in Alias Sketchbook with that. It was just impossible..
And another way of getting smooth lines is to draw fast, and consentrate only on 1 or 2 arches at the same time.

I made a quick 3 min sketch drawing a cartoon face as an example.
And its not realy that good, becasue its hard for me to draw when people are "watching"

i really like that last face jub jub, watch your eye placement though, same for u tord.

Here is a quick rough sketch and colour i did in flash for one of my characters named WORSOW for my animation i'm working on,this is him in human form...

Posted Image

here he is in beastly form, dunno if anyone saw this

Posted Image

both pics i spent around 20mins on trying to develop a more stylized approach to drawing and colouring.

I'll do proper concepts when i've finished the first movie..

Holy crap NOOB that is a freaking awesome creature!I especially like the lighting angle.Reminds me of a teenage mutant ninja turtle on PCP.I hope i get to see more monster sketches from ya.

Were the eyes off on the last one of mine?O,i made the distant eye too high?

By the way,did most of you guys here go to art schools?I'm kinda self taught so any advice ya have is probably new to me.I should really study more on lighting and things.

jub,the girls left eye is a tad too far away from her nose,i wud tell you to fix it,but its one of those things that the untrained eye probably wudn't notice, its no biggy.

u can easily relocate that eye in photoshop or sumthin, just lasso around it and move, but that would probably only be to satisfy me :P

.....

Oh i don't go to *art school* as such, but i do study fineart and illustration at college and go to regular life drawing/painting sessions.

thanks for the comments on my pic.

! never seen that before! your approach to colouring is awsome!

are those like linear gradients for the skin or just different layers of alpha paint?

K so you design the characters after the movie??

So i guess you just animated like rough sillouhettes and stuff, and then your gonna like flesh it out afterwards??

lol,no i don't design after movies that wud be stupid, what i meant was i'll spend more time on the actual designs after i complete the movie i'm working on,cos i don't have that long to complete the movie, and these rough designs will just have to do for now.

its like bitey, his design has evolved quite a bit.

...............................

yeh those are just linear gradients, then i paint flat solid colour on top of that for highlights.

i've roughed sum animation, keyframes, but right now i'm trying to get backgrounds complete, the deadline for the bgs is sunday.

Looks great Espen=). Awesome Dickroach!

Love the shading and the characterdesign Noob! just make shure the character loos like the same character from his front view and profile view. His eyes, head and ear position doesent match eachother in the profile\front view sheet.

Great work Tim! I acctually like the one you made better. Becasue I realy didnt like how my turned out^^

And I love those human designs you made Jubjub. I love you're "closer to realism" style
