Colesif,i agree its a great improvement,ur getting better,i've been meaning to give u a crit on lucky for a long time.

Right now u've basically got a strong character design, now u just gotta work on your rhythm and weight, theres so much that can me improved in this image, and it only takes a few lines, try to think dynamic, long strokes, good curves and more variation.

heres a quick sumthin i did for ya,just to give u sum idea,s'not perfect.i'll admit amimal characters aren't my area of expertise, but yeh...

hi prome, first off i'm not gunna get into anything below the neck with u yet,and i'm not including the neck in this crit cos its just a distraction from what i want to put across.

HEAD CONSTRUCTION,i worked on a simple thingy,i'm doin this more or less the andrew loomis way.

Note that this is just showing how to construct a head,u shud not really spend that long drawing construction lines, they are only a rough guide, but obviously i spent longer on em just to show ya.

Now my faces ain't perfect either,so don't take everything in :gasp:

Posted Image

PART 1- i have labeled with letters as u can see, heres the explanation

a) start of by drawing a circle

B) find the center point, and draw a horizontal and vertical through it.The horizontal line is your BROW LINE

c) these two lines are where we chop off a little bit on two sides of the circle, because the head is not round all over.

d)u now want to continue the vertical line down.

e) mark off areas, halfway between the top of the circle and the brow line is your hair line

Just at the bottom of the circle is where ur nose ends, and not too far under that is your chin or end of the face.

.....

PART 2/3 -just a clearer image.

PART 4 -this shows u more or less where u can lay down the features.

PART 5 - example of end product.

I'm not goin to get into explaining how to place the features, theres not much to know, its kinda self explanatory, but can be difficult to get. for now i think you should focus on head construction front view.

and i forgot to mention the ears usually come start from the brow line and end at the nose end.

but if you have trouble place features, let me or DST veterans like COM,ANGHEN or HUMBLE know, since they have quite a hefty bit of knowledge too.

NOTE AGAIN : that even i see things off in my example,so please keep that in mind.

It's a tail, not a prop!

Posted Image

A tail is a continuation of the spine. It is not a body part to be slapped on as an afterthought. Use it to strengthen the line of action, either by complementing (top left), opposing (top right), or emphasizing/lengthening the main Line of Action (Botom).

Think organic. Imagine the tail as a vine diverging from the main body; plants rarely diverge at sharp 90-degree angles.

As a side note Cole, you're getting better all the damn time. I think I'm gonna have to watch my ass before too long... :wbitey:

Your front view drawing of the head has improved Promeheus.
But you need to work a bit more on your profiles. I made some examples for ya:

hey colesif, anghen has the knowledge of rhythm i was on about, notice how each of her lines are just long sweeps, this is what i wanna see.

I don't wanna dog out comlock or anything, but like i said earlier i think thats something that lacks in comlocks work aswell.

Com has this thing where he repeats over lines allot and the end result ends up looking stiff, although his drawing Style is perfectious, the way he actually draws is quite overally technical and gets a bit *statue* like, with no indication of weight. and i'm feeling the same with yours cole, although i must admit ur post edit was much better, quite excellent actually, your getting there...the rhythm is becoming clearer..

..................................

Prome: :gasp: yeh your frontal views are a big improvement, they seem in better proportion now, keep at it.

Profiles and 3/4 views are a whole new era though  but i'm glad you attempted,i'll try my best to help you out with those whenever u like.I'll make another short tut if u want.just say.

its also good to have sum basic knowledge of the construction of the skull too.

Thanx Noob=) yeah, I tend to repeat over lines alot. especially on sketches and wacom drawings. Thats probably why none of you have seen my 30 sek gesture drawings yet becasue I try to use as small amount of lines as posible, and it ends up looking like nothing. You can bearly see the human, or the pose they are doing^^

I'll keep this in mind for my other sketches

i have that same problem, i cant seem to get my lines to connect if i try to just use one solid sweep of a line.

Unless that is how you used to draw before, but your drawing has a slight brackenwood look to it :)

ReEDIT:lmao, OMG!!First,,,it's a cool animation, but i was watching it and the music was calm and quiet so i had the volume up and the ''YAHOO!'' scared the piss out of me,hahaha.

Tim's had his Viridarium series going for sometime now. Thats not to say Adam has an influence over some of his work, but its also not to say that Tim is totally copying off of him.

I for one like the backrounds and love the variation in the story.

So Tim you keep strong, it looks awesome, Love the blurred foreground bush!!!
