Woo Hoo boobies!!!

Huh?....oh mature right.........Those are very good. The right breast could use a little more detail near the breast-plate bone. And yes of course the nipple.I'm seeing something with the right picture around the bicep area that looks off but i can't quite place it(wish noob was here,he'd know). It's an excellent picture though. In just the little time that i've been around here i've seen noticable improvement in your stuff.I don't think the nudity should be a problem as long as it's tastfully drawn, and you all know what i mean  .Most people that check out this thread have some drawing experience or an interest in drawing and know that anatomy studies are just a part of it all.

Want some extra challenge try some live anatomy study.Roll up your sleeve and hold out your arm(the one you don't draw with),Bend your arm like you were going to flex your bicep and point your fingers in towards you as far as you can,now you have a real model to go off of,a better view of depth and you're forced to incorporate foreshortening. This will help you to not become set in drawing still figures and unstead learn to draw the body structure and muscles in action. You will also have a larger/closer referance to study evn finer details and how the skin wrinkles over the muscles.(dramatic lighting is optional)hehe ENJOY!

Ranoka-I'll see what i can do.I'm a hard-a@! on myself,so it's hard not to try to put all that i've learned into consideration on every picture. And going to galleries and talking to people that give VERY straight forward critiques and comments has made me VERY self conscious with my stuff.Anyways i'll do some doddlin' and post some wether you guys wanna see em or not(i'll thumbnail em for those who don't give a damn and don't want to scroll down so much).

Awesome!

Thanks Jubby! I will be trying this drawing technique later for ya man! (btw, I started that sketch thinking it was for you because you said you would trade some anatomy for the one sketch in the art trader thread)

I am willing to trade it to ya and even sketch some monkies (wont be as good) on the bottom

Bussman-coo,yeah just post what ya end up wantin' to trade in the trader thread when ya get around to it.

BluDi-that looks good. The farthest side of the helmet that covers the cheek seems to be pointing further out than the closer one. From the engle that it looks like the helmet is i would put it around at a length a fraction shorter than the closest one.And maybe placing the um,plume a little bit closer.Imagine if you rotated the drawing towards you, that might help you see.I like the shading, there's a very good resource of shading objects in our resources HERE about using the direction of the lines that you shade over an object with to give an illusion of more depth.Which applies to pencil also.I did see some of that in the dark areas.I'm still trying to incorporate it into my stuff too actually.

Some bubibaa about my drawing :P

Hah, I can see many errors in it now. Just after shading the helmet part, I realized that it really makes a difference with the direction of the lines and that's why my teacher made me do another :P It also looks like a baby's helmet.

I think you're the first one to say anything that constructive about my drawings, thank you :)

The link you gave me was funny. I was looking only at the pics and it said to stop scrolling and read the texts :P

BluDi- No problem, just trying tp help out bud.hehe,i did the same thing i just scrolled down and i was just lokking over it and not reading what it said, and they caught me there.Lots of people must do that too(why they posted it saying that).

I'm trying to shade like that too but it's a very deep ingrained habit to make a picture look clean by shading all in one direction.

Here's a doodle i did today.I saw an old picture in a sketchbook from a few years ago so i decided to redo it.I didn't really put much into the shading or anything like that, was just passin' time.

Hey bodot, nice alien. It has very good facial design (a bit too human for my tastes, but good nonetheless) and the eye is nicely rendered. His hand tends to get lost in his chest area due to the abundance of rounded shapes:

My suggestion for future is to have him point from a slightly different angle, still at the viewer, but with the hand moved a bit away from his main mass.

Also, a hands isn't a bunch of sausages tied together. :P Curl your hand into a fist and you'll see some definite straight lines and edges.

Jubs, great drawing. The diagonal action directed by his head, the wings, arms, and the pauldrons give it a lot of energy. I wish it were shaded darker, but Christmas comes only once a year, doesn't it?

Great work, everybody!

Hehe,Anghenfil aww that reminded me of the last line in a James Bond movie.

*HINT* her names was Christmas.......

I'll go back and shade it in and do somethin' for a background,i kinda like it.Thanks for the encouragement btw.

Anghenfil makes some very valuable comments about bodot's alien, especially about the pose losing its dynamism with the pointing hand getting lost.

In animation (and in other visual arts, of course) it is really important to have the silhouette of each pose be strong so that it reads properly at 1/24th of a sec (or whatever FR).

Bodot has some great negative space working between the alien's legs, but could have brought a similar idea to the L arm, opening up the area between it and the chest.

As for the R arm, it's a bit tougher. You want to have the power of the finger pointing straight at the viewer, but not have it get lost in the foreshortening or in the detail of the chest.

Think about the line of the R arm for a minute, too. Is it pointing in the viewer's face or lower down? What is more powerful, pointing in someone's face or at their belly? By raising the arm, we can have a bit of overlap on the face (like looking down the barrel of a gun) and get some real intention behind the pose.

I hope you don't mind my hasty butchering of your drawing, bodot. It's always easier to understand with an example.

And jubjub, I'm not even going to say anything. You know you nailed it. (Except more contrast, like Anghenfil said).

Hehe, taking into account how long i've been drawing though,i'm not that great.I've taking no sort of art schooling which would have jumped me ahead very far.And i went through a year or two when i didn't draw at all and i forgot everything i learned.Besides when you get my age you will have FAR surpassed me drawing i'm sure.

Actually i'm going to get that dang picture out again and give it more contrast like ya guys said, but i'll refrain from posting it since i flood this thread as it is.
