Hey - thanks for all the comments..

I see your point Anghen - thanks for clearing some concepts about shape and silhouette

Mr Nurbs - LOL - I saw that too.. B)

Kib - thats a great change

Hell a lot of nice drawings popping up here - the pencils are really hot out there..

squiblledoof - great - maybe a more straigth ligthdirection and contrast.

Keep it up..

I'll go to the drawing tablet.. :)

Hey Comlock! good to see some stuff outta ya,work always does put a damper into things. The centaur one looks like it had to be a little complicated to draw,it looks good.I would have just totally butched it.

Here's some quick sketches i did.Sorry that they're all mixed up but when i get an idea i just scribble it down as quick as i can and most of the time alot of things overlap...I had more stuff on this guy but it was just layers over layers, only i would know what was going on in the picture

The skull helm kinda reminds me of the bad guy in WILLOW now that i look at it.Except in the movie his helm didn't have a bottom jaw and instead it had cheek guards(sry random crap).

ooh looks sweet jub...except one thing...add contrast!....most of it is really dark/medium tone...toss in some hard-edged shadows next to white....and on the left skeleton guys right shoulder ...thing! (i forgot what it's called)....put a terminator towards the outside....and it would give it a nice metal shine effect ;)

edit: oh btw...do you ever do something besides hatching? lol...looks good but I'd just like to see what you can do using chiaroscuro/modeling....

Hehe, relax villageidiot. It's just a sketch.I was having fun.I've never taken an art class outside of highschool nor have i had anyone give me any tips or teaching about art.I wouldn't even begin to know where to put a terminator in a picture or use chiaroscuro. If i didn't have a search engine i wouldn't even know what those words mean in art terms.

I'm not sure if you were just trying to make fun of me learning to draw, but if not, maybe you could show me an example or referance of terminators and using chiaroscuro.

Rock'n Roll....

That horselady are really something comlock - she's rather comfortable with her new? body.

JubJub - those are strong characters/creatures

Great stuff...

Heres something "comedy".....

Um,the easiest way to prevent that would be to sketch very lightly in pencil first and then in pen if you're afraid of messing up or something like that.Esiest way to cover-up a mess up in pen for me is to go darker.

Hehe, well i don't know any techniques for preventing mistakes, except practice. If it would help you could try using referances. That way you'll get a better sense of proportions and all that.

Sorry i couldn't help more,i'm sure the kibster or rubberhead or Anghenfil or one of those guys/girl would have more productive advice.

1llusionz: to prevent it intirely you just need to draw alot. However, if you make some light constructionlines to begin with like JubJub said, you can see the "end result" alot quicker, and you can deside if you want to edit it before you finish the actual drawing. That way you will get better perspective and proportions, instead of the straight ahead way. You'll also get more cleaner and secure line, since you basicly know where the lines are gonna be. But making constructionlines before the actual drawing takes practice to. So just draw as much sketches you can. And draw things you see
:wbitey:

here's some examples (red is the constructionlines)

Looks cool Zwickel. But the lightgray shadow, looks a bit weird since it has a brighter colour than his black shirt.

6 min Speedpainting in Alias Sketchbook, just playing around:

COMLOCK! Hehe, you should just walk up to your boss and say''i'm not working overtime anymore,i have to go home and draw!''he'll/she'll understand....

Alistair-Hehe that is quite a creative creature B) ,I wanna make sum, maybe i'll send a couple your way.

Here's something i've been working on and it was sitting in the folder till i could make a proper background, which i can't do btw.But after seeing a few kib tutorials i was gonna give it a shot. But i couldn't think of what the heck to put behind her....... ;)

It's going to be a 2 layer drawing so if i mess up the background i can just do another, because they'll be seperate.I wish my layered drawings would scan...i'll post em when i get a decent digital camera that takes macro pictures.Any ideas?I was thinking a vast army behind her but that would quickly make it one of the most complex drawings i've ever done....It's also going to be a rather large drawing.

Alistair-Oh that thing won't be in it i'm sorry to say.

Hmm,maybe a forest with a castle in the background,i dunno,i ran out of ideas, that's one reason why it's been sitting in my folder ;) ,it's groutesquely misproportioned too(sp),Maybe i should just bury it back in there, hehe cause i just really can't do backgrounds
