Take one piece of advice from me, never go Trust, they are awfull in just about everything they do. I got one piece of hardware from Trust that didn't brake down after a week, and that was a 3 bucks microphone - which in essence is too primitive to brake down. Also, you need to host your files on the internet, right now you are linking to a path on your own computer. You can't access files from someone else's computer over the internet - good ridance... And don't feel bad about your drawings, everyone "sucks" at a cetain period

What a great spree of work you've got going, Neonakis! If OpenCanvas is as good as you say-- it might be worth a look into, eh? A quick one done in Adobe Elements:

Nicely done, there, akpaintslinger. Great pose. The weight is coming along, too. You have a shadow directly under the figure. Are you going to maybe add some lighting contrast to his body? It looks like the light is directly above him, so you could get some dramatic highlights on the top of his head, nose, ears and shoulders, as well as on the back of that leg sticking out. Then you could darken in the lower torso, under the legs, etc. Hurry up, man, or I'll do it myself! And nice Princess, Neonakis. That's a strong stylistic adjustment. Your lines are very Bruce Timm-ish. Do you have Miyazaki's beautiful pencil/wc sketches he does when he's designing characters? He is an excellent learning source. kib |

so we have some Miyazaki fans.....
WOO! I LOVE Miyazaki's stuff!!!!!!! Neonakis that looks great....though it is a bit manly ...I thought it was a guy at first...then Kib said "princess" and I double checked...and sure enough....it was a girl....try making the head more feminine...just a few things I noticed first were... Chin is too long/big Hair is too scraggly for a girl (even a warrior girl) nose should be just a little pointier *lastly* in MOST anime (not all) female's eye's are bigger than that....Just a little reference

thanks for the tips village, but i was trying to match the traits as closely as i could to princess mononoke:![]() miyazaki doesn't do the big eyes thing... and for that, i love him dearly. kib: i wish to god i could mimic his pencils, alas, I'm quite new to this anime business so it may take me some time to get the nice, thin linework down. Most of my regular stuff is thick, bold lines, so this is completely foreign to me, however, I find it excellent practice! here's another one i just whipped up, from Spirited Away (another Miyazaki film)

there is something about that head that doesnt seem rigth
as you know, to get the rigth size of the head, you can make 8 lines or is it 9, i dunno ![]() on this pixture the head is makeing the lines not fit with the "8 line or 9 something" rule, where you can set together 8 head sizes and make the body rigth " Form " anyhoo ROCK ON macgyver! |

Looking good, Kojisan. Are you using reference material (is the character from something else or did you make it up)? And when you scan your work, take it into Photoshop (or something) and increase the Contrast a little. It is very easy to do and it will make a big difference to how your drawings look on-line. Here's a simple adjustment using the Levels function in PS: ![]() I also cropped it down to a more appropriate size and saved it as a JPG instead of a PNG (which I noticed all your images are). A JPG will be a smaller file that makes it easier for everyone's computers. Looking forward to more of your stuff, Kojisan. Nihonjin desu-ka? Nihon no doko ni imasu-ka? kib |

wow, you're making alot of nice coloured sketches now, please make more=) I like this one too, but her right leg seems a bit unatural. I think you have to move it closer towards the center ![]() Espen: those 8-9 line rules can be used to make animators keep their characters on model. So when several animators are gonna draw the same character, they look on the modelsheet and know that that character is gonna be about 8 heads tall, 2 heads tall, 9 heads tall and so on.. I dont think it has to be that accurate. But, as close as possible Like if you saw somebody in real life that was, say 7.230343 heads tall.. would you realy notice that? ("hmmm, theres something wrong with that person, he doesent seem to be exactly 7 heads tall") ![]() |

Great stuff Neo.. If i may add a small critique... I think the left leg looks fine with the illustration. But i think the right knee cap is off a little bit. You should swivel it over to the left a bit so it is alligned with the tip of her right foot.. Right now i think it's placed a little too far to the right and looks unconfortable for her to stand that way. Other than that man you're on the ball... Keep at it.... |

I think that's a great drawing,my only critiques might seem nit-pickish but.The neck looked very unnatural to the rest of him,it's very thick. If it was supposed to be cloth maybe remove the lines of the neck muscles there and add some faint horizontal creases unstead. Also one part of the cloth from his mask seems to be caught up in a breeze, which could make for a more dramatic scene, but the other isn't or the cloth at the end of the sword. Also, what would be his left arm is hidden behind him, which would be very possible in the pose he's in,but it looks very odd in a drawing, maybe showing a bit of the bicep and and the rest of the arm posed slightly out would look better, just an opinion. ![]() ![]() Here's a couple other poses i sketched real quick, sorry they're sloppy/crappy.Makes me wanna draw that guy.Maybe i'll do a more detailed drawing of em' jubjub style!

com: heheheh <3. i love the little additions you've made.
nurbs: totally see the knee thing, I think I was putting too much thought into stylization and not enough thought into actual form with this one i will be sure to keep them both in mind next time |
