Tim, here's a Comlock style paint-over to show you what I mean. Hell, you don't even need to read the last comment now. Just look and absorb my crits through diffusion.

Rubber, how dare you! That was the hardest 40 seconds of moving my cursor back and forth I've ever had to endure!

I know that brush is a bit of a cliché, and I probably wouldn't use it on my own piece. But I wouldn't go so far as to dissuade someone from using it to make some quick grass. If you know how to use it, it can look great, and it takes virtually no time. It's just a shortcut, and it's meant to be used. It's how you use it that will seperate that pros from the joes.

Edit: Perhaps it would be best to make several of your own grass brushes, and alternate between them.

awesome work Salter1701! Lovely shading, and some great detail there.

I'm particularly fond of the dog, the eyes on the girl seem a little off though in terms of position.

OMG you're a scouser!

red or blue? :)

Thanks fuzzyillogic :D . I'm proud of the dog, though it looks better on paper. The Jpeg seems a bit blocky.

I'm a blue :D where bouts you from?

Try not to double post Salter. If you post and then realize you've left something out, or want to add to that post, you can use the ‘edit’ button located in the top right hand corner of your post. :)

You can also quote more than one person within the same post, so that shouldn't be a concern :)

I liked both drawings, especially the dog, mainly because it just hit me that dogs' pupils aren't as big as I thought they were, as in the past I always thought they covered a lot of area, but it turns out my dog just has really dark irises, anyway I got enlightened after seeing that sketch and going through dog photos on Google.

Look at them. They're so small.

Anyway... Stupid sketchies for a (not stupid) sketch thread.

it's lookin' good....cept the water...kinda looks like a sheet of metal rather than water....its soooo flat >_< ..and try adding a darker tone around the back of the arms and near the bottom of the sheep there ;) ....I don't think I've ever seen grass like that on a beach...
but to agree with the others who've spoken before me, that crab is cute
