Here's one I did...

Too lazy to draw good legs...

The torso looks like it should twist in order to correctly line up with the pelvic area. Try gradually moving the chest, stomach, & ab area to the left across his body a bit....that may help. Right now the upper half of his body doesn't feel like it properly connects to the lower half.

That is indeed an interesting subject, Dave. The coloring possibilities just wouldn't be the same with a model of slighter proportions.

Ang is right--- polish it off! ^_^

------------------------------------------------------

This is what happens when you draw with no goals in mind:

Static poses, wrong proportions and poor lighting. <_<

Tomorrow's goal: Dynamic poses. :)

I was just foolin' around. I can make a good, serious drawing if I want, but I just thought I'd lazy this one.

Thanks! From a photo. I joined Human Anatomy for the Artist and Female Anatomy for the Artist recently. They're both excellent resources and really cheap. So, I'm trying to do more anatomy studies like this.

How do you blend your colors Bleego?

I don't actually "blend" specifically. The brush I'm using in Painter is an bristle oil and it smears a bit when it paints. Typically I just lower the opacity and keep sampling colors and work them together with brush strokes.

For example, in Photoshop, I never ever use the smear tool for painting. I think it looks like garbage.

Humble, do you take the colors you use from the reference picture, or do you sorta guess, and see what looks good?

Nope. Never, it's bad practice. Part of the point of these is to accurately indentify what colors are being used and where. It's helps develop your ability to use color effectively, especially when you have not references. ;)

That said, you will notice how different my base/rough colors are than my finished areas. I'd like to tell you it's indentional, but it's not. My first guesses are often way off and I only start finding the right colors later in the rendering process. Once I do have the right palette, I start sampling it and moving it to other areas of the painting.

Hope this helps. :bfoot:

Just this brush mostly. I don't use most of PS's tools besides brush and eraser when painting.

Do you tend to use the texture brushes?

If you're refering to the Photoshop preset brushes, no. If you're asking if I create brushes to add texture, then yes. But, they're very miminal compare to the brush recipe I shared a few posts up. That brush is my work horse. Custom texture brushes are great, but I can make that brush do anything I want. ;)

Humble, that brush preset isn't on my brush list. Did you download it from somewhere?

EDIT: I'm sorry, I'm retarted. Wow.

No I created it. It's just a recipe. You just begin with the standard brush and put in those settings.

How about a Medium Res? At least that way you can make out brush strokes. :P
