Uhm...
Actually, I did it all on one layer... It was just for practice.
and you're right about the fin... i hate how it looks, but i was too lazy to fix it. The only things I'm proud of, really, are the facial features.

THanks for the crits, though
:D

Edit:
Here's an update...
Posted Image
Irises, more highlights, and shading... no fin... better?

Edit #2:
Just spent a few hours on this... I'm starting to like painting a whole lot more

Posted Image

It bugs me that it doesn't look like the ref, but i'm happy that it looks like an eye. Crits on this too, please! :D

the first one is decent, but i think his ear is too close to the rest of his face. it should be further back on his head.
the third one reminds me of a metal version of Alien.

anyway, here's what i did today.

it's me and Hecate's Shadow. she didn't come out as good as i'd hoped.

Great concept

Good painting

I think the background is a little disturbing

The skin (texture ) is a little pale and flat.

But great work

I see your idea (I think) with the background : the diagonal lines is part of your composition...

Its a nice draw..

Maybe its the green color thats teasing my eye..

Well just a little bit.

And I think you're really a master of proportions - so hard work can tell..!

Keep it up!

It looks good, I cant realy see that many mistakes but, I'll flipp the image, so you'll probably see it clearer-
Posted Image
Her ear is very very close to her right eye. And her face seems a little flat, but maby that's just your style. If I saw this face in a profileview , id imagine it would look something like this

Posted Image
(with the ears very close to her face, and the overall flatness)

Cantdraw, the only problem i have with it is the ear shape (and closeness to the eye)... oh, and maybe the lips... otherwise, great stuff!

i really should start implementing that technique whereby u occasionally flip the image ur working on...that way u see it in a different way and see ur mistakes more clearly...now that u flip it i do see the closeness of the ear and the furthest eye is a bit too high and looks very very odd.

Hey people. I really need to start concentrating on anatomical figures and such for college next year, so I drew this woman today. I got the original picture from the net, but edited it a little (in the original she had a shirt). Any pointers are greatly appreciated. Medium is charcoal, took me about a half an hour in total.

WARNING!! NUDIE PIC AHOY!!

and no, that's not extremely long armpit hair....just falling past her shoulders

Edit: Thanks Clayt, Problem solved ;)

Revision of a previous sketch, which you will never see, hehe. Plan to paint it in photoshop. Some links to a good fur tutorial that doesn't involve the smudge tool would be great.

The long tongue I took from the giraffe and I mixed the spotted pattern in with the panda pattern. I didn't use much though....

Bo, that's incredibly disturbing. I like it. Two things:

-> The spout really seems to come out of nowhere. Maybe you can give her long floppy lips and use those as a spout?

-> Her pose is a little wooden. Curve her spine, shift her weight, make her flow from one part to another.

On the other hand, it's pretty well designed, especially her face. You mix up the sizes and locations of all her features nicely.

Hey Humblebutt, that looks stupendous. I have a little beef with the tongue, because it looks like it's coming out from underneath his bottom teeth. It's the only way my mind can consolidate the fact that his bottom jaw is paper-thin. Everything else likes great, though; I love the facial pattern and the fact that he looks a bit like a warthog with all the pieces mixed in.
