If this comes up twice im sorry. I belive i screwed up in the posting so here it goes again. Here is a picture i did in flash of a snake that had just had a meal. I said in my previous post im not that good at sketching with color but i would try and get one up so i could get some critiques from people. If you have any tips i would love to hear them beacuse i love drawing and would really like to learn to be better on the computer. Sadly i sketch with my mouse and dont have one of those nice pads that i would like to obtain some day. Also if this picture comes out a little blurry im sorry i exported it as a Jpeg and this is how it came out if you have any tip for me as well on how to keep it the same sharpness like it is in flash please let me know!

Zwickel: Are you making a quick structure guide before you start the drawing?
Like the upper body. It's just one "block" going in one straight direction.

You could try building it up by more shapes before you start.
here's one example. There's lots of other ways to do it aswell
Like the ones you see in Loomis' book, Hogarth's books, "how to draw manga" pages etc..)

Tim: no, you're not nuts=). I just realised I gave a complete opposite advice in the weight explanation. So I was lazy and I just deleted my post instead^^
(It was late. I was tired =P)

But here's the right advice (I checked out "Loomis")

The hip with the weight goes up (and not down as I showed in the deleted post)

and here's the "clockwork orange"eye again:

Though it wasn't done in one day (I did it during my spare time in school) I didn't think it deserved to go in the Finished Art thread... All done with a Bic 0.5mm mechanical pencil.

Crits, please!

Nice expressions Tom. I can see some characters in there that would make a cool cartoon.

Here are some random doodles in Sketchbook while waiting for some paperwork.

Looks nice Tom. It's good to see you're improving=)
 cool sketches mr.nurbs. (I guess you know this, but that "spacing-arc" is supposed to be divided into more half's (exact middle position) the closer you get to the edges. I just had to add that^^ Posted Image )

I drew some faces aswell today. Trying to do some more male characters

And here was an halffinished atempt for the character Jam at drawingboard.org
It was created traditionaly, and I realised the proportions and anatomy were way off. I just didnt bother to change if becasue it wasent made in sketchbook Pro =P
You can still give crits to it if you want^^

Man Comlock, I LOVE your faces. They looks so easy to do but for some reason I have such a hard time drawing faces like that.

Trolleriffic Comlock! You definitely have some old school disney style essence in you. It's a great compliment to your own original style...

Yeah com i really like the Bigger troll that looks like a sumo wrestler. I think its cool how you made him really big and then holding a tiny spear. Mr. Nubs i like the look of your fishs. Something i would never want to see in the water!

Alrighty my sketch of the day. We got a little guy poping a pill. The hand i was having the most trouble with. I also wanted him to look like he was walking but i couldnt seem to get his Legs to work for me so i gave him the norm standing pose :-/.

He looks kinda stiff.

He shoudl be more bent back and his knees should be more bent and his head more tilted. (Sorry for me nto having a pic to show but I hope you git the idea)

yes, curve the spine backwards aswell. And you shouldent let his right arm hang straight down like that either. It makes the pose even more static.
It's not that bad on the frame, but on the cleaned up version the angle and the curve on the arm is all gone.

Here's some suggestions for ya:
(Im not realy that good with hands either, and I usally just stick with four fingers becasue its easier^^ The suggestion isnt realy that good either, so it would be better to just study your own hand instead)

Hey thanks for the advice com. Yeah drawing hands is actully something im good at. But thats at drawing and using a mouse im not the best with i would really like to obtain one of the pads that you can draw on and it sends it to your computer. But yes i do agree he looks stiff ill redo it using your examples and post it up again. Once again thanks for the crits.

P.S. Where can i get one of those pads that you draw on? Odviously online but would anywere like Best buy or something sell them?

Here it is! New and improved man poping a pill. It really is much better then the last in my opinion i think the body does have more shape. I wanted his pants to look tight but at the same time look like pants. Think that could have been improved on. Well thanks again com and crit the new one away.

This would be one of those anti drug campain images that they make extreme. For instance at my prom this year they put up a poster of a dead chick in her casket that had a quote "Who said you cant ware your prom dress twice. Dont drink and drive"

Heres my quote for the picture: "Remember that one time you got stoned at that party"

That's a great improvement, but keep in mind a character needs to be in balance when he's standing. Now he looks like he would tip over. I'dd move his right leg so it gives him more stability.

You can draw a vertical line down the center of the character as a guide.
