EH?
Wot gray streaks? I didn't see anything wrong with your drawings? (The Santa was cool, btw!)

Nice ninja, Noob. Leave his hand as is.. gives good balance and looks very ninja-like. B)
Or d'ya mean the guy in the bgrd? He could be scratching his ear. <_< Naw, very non-nija-like. If you draw the two dudes in the same position I see what you mean tho. Mebbe get him poised to throw a star or something??

hey inflame i took sum time to draw that bottom character.u need to work on facial structure, make sure u map it out before u go into it,as parts of the face are off.

also when designing a character think of what characteristics he may have, this character, obviously is a mean guy,so make sharp features, sharp eyes brows sharps nose etc.

anyways i did a *really* quick sketch of what i mean.

Posted Image

as for the guy in the back...i've never really cared for *stickman* type characters,so i won't bother :D

EDIT : if u don't have a scanner draw on paper,and take a pic with a digital camera....or buy a wacom,mouses suck

and in my pic one arm is longer than the other on the character :yfok: so don't stare at it too much hehehe.

Nice sketch NOOB, I like the perspective in the arms, it's hard to make them look like they're coming forwards.

Nice moral InFlamE ;) it's tricky drawing with the mouse, hopefully you can get a scanner with Christmas money.

Here's my sketch for today:

I thought I'd try some ovservation drawing, thing is babies are tricky 'cos they move around lots. Might ask my friend if I can draw her on Tues when she's over.

All your drawings are great. I especially like the drawing styles of Noob (that ninja rox!!) and MiG (that last drawing with the walking mouse and stuff was amazing. Great style)

One question from a beginner :) : do you just draw and draw and draw or look at tutorials or whatever first?

and another: do you draw really light sketches before you draw your characters?

thanks, keep up the great work

interesting vyp0r..heres a trap most beginners fall into....do not buy how to draw books,u can look at tutorial, but don't draw from how to draw books, they teach u nothing,u have to learn anatomy and life drawing and have full knowledge of how muscles work, how to books don't go through that, only good things in em are the parts that tell u to use shapes to begin ur character.

tutorials such as muscles structure, human form etc. are good, how to draw manga, and how to draw spiderman type tutorials are a load of...bleh!

yup i use light pencils to set up the pose, the darker for details and refining.glad u like my stuff btw

and ronoka is that a life drawing??? *oh i just read it was* thats excellent!!!! more of that wud be great.

can't wait to see sum stuff vector.

]One question from a beginner  : do you just draw and draw and draw or look at tutorials or whatever first?

Me personally have allways loved drawing and stuff since i was a little kid.And from that ive been able 2 make something special all the time+i have a good fantasy and that makes it easyer for me too create and do drawings. My father altso loves 2 draw so its in the family hehe =)

and another: do you draw really light sketches before you draw your characters?

They draw sketches first and lay the sketch as a backround in first layer. Then in secound layer they start making parts as arms, head, ear, eyes, legs, shoes, hair and even nose.So yep they do =)

Iam looking forward 2 see some of ur work :D

And for u N00B:I see what u mean.I forgot the half of hes face and with mouse and stuff and all the ideas it went alittle fast hehe =) But the bully was not suppose too be evil.Just a typical bully that u just wanna punch the shit out of.
And Ranoka:Thanks =) Nice baby u made there.Really good with the expressions and stuff 2.Cant wait too see the other baby =)
And Nicateen:Nice picture.Sorry I havent seen or played the blizzard games but its good so I think I would recognize it if Ive played it =) *sigh* Now i have too rest my fingers :P

Nice, Nicateen, but watch the double posts. The mods are on the rampage! :gasp: Can't wait to see it inked and coloured.

GJ on the l'il baby, Ranoka! Those chubby rascals really are tough to do.

vypOr: Just draw, man. Draw anything and everything and most of all, do it often. One cool thing that's always kept me drawing is the number one rule of drawing.. there are no rules! You can copy if you want to (but don't trace) to help you explore various styles or you can just run with what you like to draw. If you do copy just don't fall into the trap of copying from one artist all the time. That'll only stunt your own artistic style which will emerge soon enough.

InFlamE, your style is already beginning to show thru! Keep it up.

.. who else? Vector! C'mon in man the water's great.

wtg Noob on starting this thread. It's fun.

MiG

hmm, I should sketch somthin huh?

Dang! Scanner was acting up. Anyway:

Thanks for all the advice guys. I don't have any how to draw books, and I don't plan to get any. I was just wondering how you guys went about it. I will definately start to draw some stuff, and I actually have a really good drawing of sonic that I copied (not traced) years back. The proportions came out great! I'll scan that in some time soon. I did it back in the year 2000 :gasp: damn...that was a long time ago

I'll do a vector of it and post it, um... my character doesn't have hair either, becuase that would take to long to draw... he he.

Well that all depends. Some ppl do it that way sometimes, some ppl do it that way all of the time and some ppl just draw right in Flash.

As far as laying out a sketch, then the best way for most is to lightly sketch out the basic form so that you get the proportions right and to help ensure that the pose is balanced and will fit where you want it to. Noob seems to take particular care in this regard as his drawings are rather complex and it sucks to get almost done and then find out it's all outta wack! :(

I sometimes do that but since I mostly draw toons I just start with, say the nose and then just go. The sketches I posted are right from the pencil with no cleanup. They are, after all, just sketches. er, the last one I posted I erased a bit on the girl but that's 'cause I'm tired.

Naw, it's cool. I don't think it's spamming anyway. If a mod sez otherwise then I guess you're busted. ;)

It looks good. Did you lose the outline on the underside of the arms on purpose or did "Optimize" do that on you. In Flash sometimes you can smooth or optimize and then undo and then smooth or optimize again and it'll give a different result. Just FYI in case it comes in handy someday.

*Note to everyone:
About the mega posts.. um, if you haven't read chluaid's post about spam then you should. And since we've started a thread that consumes server space then perhaps we can all help out by planning our posts as much as possible. (lol, listen to me, I've made like ten posts in as many minutes!)
But this is a good thing we have going here and it'd be a shame to have the thread police come in and bust up our party. The mods here are great and have been doing an excellent job so it'd be cool if we don't complicate their jobs (or mess up Adam's server and database space).

If it's on topic and/or helpful to others then I guess there's no probs but if you just want to say, "oh that's cool" and you've already done that a few times very recently then perhaps save it until you have a more worthwile post to add it to.

Sound fair? B)
