Wow Davey-boy, I love the design! The contours of the head are very nice, almost like a samurai helmet. The body seems a little front-heavy, but it looks like to could puts its front claws down for balance if it wanted. Good show. |

Yeah, I kinda just let my Wacom do what it wanted. It was sort of an experient. I tried not to "think" too much about it, but let the sketch do itself. Sort of interesting. But, I agree it looks like it could topple over and the left claw looks a bit gimpy. Oh well. |

elephant, bucko, I LOVE your style. It's just so different from everything else. The whole package is really nice here: Clothes, hair, posture. The pipe is a nice touch. Her right foot seems like it should be turned towards the audience a little for balance, but that's it. The compositions is a tad unbalanced. Is there any way you could put attention to the bottom half of the picture? you want to lead your audience's eyes through the picture and I'm going hair->face->chest->skirt. I never get to her feet. Maybe you could make some really kick-ass heels. Great job.

Soda Popinski is awesome! Not only in Humble's painting, but I remember him having these super exaggerated upercuts in the game...like he was throwing his whole body into them. I remember him being very animated. Just bought a new sketchbook today, this is what broke it in: ![]() I was going to put an assload of gauges, switches, & instruments on the table, but I lost interest quickly, realizing that inorganic things aren't much fun to draw. |

SEX RED!!!

Got bored in lessons and instead of doing course work i decided to doodle (im going to regret it later but o well). Thought it wasnt too bad so when I got home I scanned it in and added colour. It's the best thing Iv done without using one little reference at all, so Im proud of me. At the same time I know it's not perfect so here it is for you guys to rip to peices and make me redo
![]() edit: changed the direction of the feet and I think it's less awkward looking now. Comments would be appreciated |

I agree that the neck seems too thin, but it's an interesting style choice. Maybe you could selectively thin other parts of the body, like the wrists, shins, and waist? I really like the shadows on his face. Very Easter Isle-ish.

Looks nice. You have cleaner lines now=) But you can try to vary the linewith to get more volum on the drawing I also think you should have made the whole thing first, roughly. Find out how they constructed the face. See what geometric shape it's build of. If you screw up, its alot easier to edit becasue you havent started any details yet. Just stay very very loose at the begining and capture the whole thing before you move on. ![]() The same principle goes for painting aswell. Block in the whole thing first. Stay loose. Then go into the smaller details as you work on it ofcourse, you dont need to use this method for drawing\painting. But that way you're able to get the perspective, volum and likeness ALOT more accurate. And if you're animating it's a must to do draw ut this way It's not easy to change the way you're drawing, but just practice. I also used to copy images line by line like you when I was younger |

Do you measure out your proportions before you draw the thing? If you spend some time on getting the right first it's easier to copy and the drawing will look more authentic. |

I wish I had used that method at first, But I had already started and felt foolish to change. I usually use that method for my things recently, but I feel I can do better like this. I have done a bunch with using the geometrical technique, because the line by line way screws you up sometime. Thanks though commie for that!!! Here is the Pastel work of the picture, about 50 minutes: ![]() ![]() Any more comments? |
