something like this

I dont know if it worked out though...

If it were like this, you'd be able to see the top of his hand. We can see the bottom of his hand, and so that gives the impression of the bottom of his spear pointing more towards us. I don't have my tablet right now so I can't draw it, unfortunately.

I tend to stick with only one typical hand gesture.
I should try to vary it more. I realy need practice drawing hands..

Commy that's good but the stick still looks like it's pointing straight up. Maybe making it a tiny bit wider towards the top and thinner towards the bottom :P (someone else started being nitpicky, not me) But noticing all these things might not be a bad thing.

Hey Munch! That scene rocks! ;) Is it gonna be a movie or something? Will you post that scene when the spaceship will be coloured?

I have a bunch of pics to show :)

Maybe you could tell me something about this, because I'm pretty new to colouring ;)

A negative one

Hey, Jurgis, I'm gonna critique a few of these pictures for you :)

Picture number one: The anatomy of this one seems a bit off when I first looked at it. I had to draw in some anatomy, and then actually had to get up and see what was wrong by posing like that. (without the spear of course) I finally realized that his neck has twisted around farther than humanly possible. The human head can only turn to the shoulder before the shoulders and chest start to turn around too. His head, however, is completely around and looking at us almost straight on in your picture. To fix this, all you'd need to do is shift his shoulders a little bit to compensate for the head. His left shoulder should move to the right some, and his right shoulder to the left some. This way, his side will probably be facing us, but the pose he's in will be anatomically correct. (Note: if you do shift the shoulders/chest around, make sure the length of your arms stay correct. ;) )

As far as coloring goes...the only thing I would suggest is maybe looking at kib's awesome landscaping tutorial? *shrug* It can be found here: http://z7.invisionfree.com/Brackenwood/ind...wtopic=7234&hl=

Picture number two: For this one, I read at the bottom that it's supposed to be working with negative space. (eg. the shadow is brighter where everything else is darker...I think) If I'm right about that though, then the light source should actually be a dark source, the sky should be a circular gradient going from dark (near the sphere) to light (far away from the sphere). The "highlights" should actually be everywhere on him except where they are now. Those should be dark. Finally the ground should be going dark to light (lighter closer to the observer, darker farther away from the observer) and he should be extra bright where none of the "dark source" will hit him. (eg. The left side of his chest, [what we see as his right] and on his left [our right] arm)

Of course, if I'm completely wrong about that negative space thing, then feel free to correct me and not take any of that advice :D

Edit: Some sketches I did a while ago for fun during school. No references used. I think that's it?

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d161/anvilfood/img003.jpg

Feel free to critique and all of that :D

Edit Version 2.0.1: Here's some figure drawings I did today... the one complex one took more than a minute or two.. (sorry Ang..) ..but the rest were done with standeard 45 second or so rules. Sorry in advance for each one being so small.

Thanks zigityzigitywokk! Yeah... that first one was a mess :) Bad thing I didn't have .psd but I did paintover. Ok so I tried to fix it a little bit, and for the background I just saw Kibs tutorial but didn't read it. I'll do it later, I think there's a lot of help!

And with that negative I meant that it's white on black, thats it :bing: . But I think I'll try what you said. It's something like super negative :D

Anyways, thanks :wbitey:

Meh, nothing special. Just a speckled brush with low flow to get a semi-dry effect.
Get a specled brush, lower flow to around 20 and turn on "direction" in control under anglejitter in the shape dynamics.

Maybe when I do it it's just because I become lazy. Especially when you have a sketchbook you can carry around, sometimes I just go lay down on the sofa but you start feeling mellow when you're drawing there for a while. So it just happens you go like. Meh, i'll turn this into that and that into that and slap over some fancy shadows to make it look like some effort went into it =P

It isn't really a crab btw, I just couldn't find a more appropriate name.
