Woot's idea/assignment inspired me to do my own (hope that's ok  )

Anywho, I came up with this.

You can critique it if you like, but keep in mind, this was based off Woot's assignment, so he'd benefit more from a critique than I would.

P.S. - Monochromatic drawing is fun!

Obviously your picture is sposed to be wacky and random, but there is still a lil something that looks off. You don't have one specific light source, so the image is all confused when I look at it. The munch guy is lit from top-left, the monster is lit top-right, and a thing in the back is lit mid/bottom left, and the buildings are lit from behind. Howsabout on your next one, focus on one light source and show us what ya got?

<_< I think its fine. The light source is the energy thing in the background. Making the lighting accurate. I think the problem is that there is no shadow for the running monster. ;)

Testing out my new Prisma Color markers. They bleed way too much on normal paper, but they're pretty nice.

Espen, Master Chief is looking pretty slick. Even when he's wearing a dress.

:o, yeah, it survived, until i managed to delete it myself, it asked if i wanted to delete this folder, cos it contained virus, *push*yes, i didnt even look which folder it was, deleteing system32. and i was owned, so now all my .PSD are gone yet again, anyway. thansk guys, yes jemooky he does look pretty slick with the ballerina dress ;), we didnt bungie think of that? i like your prisma color test. its so clean... ahh jealous! <_<

NEW STUDIES OF DOOM!

master cheif is a very hard charachter to draw, since he's mostly squared, not organic (as in how the lines are shaped) like muscels and cloth. i dont have alot of exprince when it comes to drawing mechanical art, so i guess now would be a good time to start ;) dont you think.

I DO think.
I was planning on studying mechanical drawings as well, including architecture. When I pick up some bristol board, I'll start copying buildings and weapons/armor, then eventually come up with some original stuff of my own.

Hey Espen, you have some nice mechanical art there. The only thing that you're having trouble with (it looks like) is proportions for the MC's armor. After looking at bungie's screenshots, I made some changes to your drawing.

Posted Image

1.) I think the head is too low, causing him to look both short and bulky. His shoulder armor should be resting almost exactly on top of his shoulders.. which in this picture it isn't so much. Shifting the head up to where you previously had it (I put a line there too) will balance the picture out better I think.

2.) The stomach of MC seems a tiny bit too wide in your picture. Remember this guy has trek'd across planets and even a covenant stronghold, so he's gotta be pretty fit. ;)

The main thing to remember when drawing Master Chief is that there is a guy inside all of the armor, so where there isn't an armor plate, there should be almost skin tight black..stuff.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I can't wait to see more. :)
