Yes! they're here again! I realy love watching your boredom sketches Bleggo =)
It so much fun

=) Nice character Calco, but you can try to push your pose a bit more next time. Try to show it trough the whole body that he is lifing up his hands in the air like that.
You can do that by bending his spine and upper body torso more.
starting with "the line of action" before you draw also helps to push your poses.

rough sketch example:

That's an interesting colour for a gargoyle, Ravenseye!

Yes--- one useful habit to have when working with Photoshop is to lock your layers, At least while you're still getting used to the system! :sage:

Speaking of your sketch lines, I was surprised to notice how incredibly clean and straight they are!! However, they may look good--- but have they served their purpose? Your gargoyle looks a bit stiff to me, and the sketching could be to blame.

- One of the key advantages of having a sketch layer is that it allows you to establish the basic fundamentals of your drawing, so that you might effectively capture its energy and perfect the proportions before pulling out the big guns. -

When sketching, use quick, long, confident gestures to bring out the figure, using as many as you need before the figure is defined enough to continue.
Don't feel bad if it gets messy!--- After all... nobody's going to see it but you, right? ;)

Merriam-Webster

Sketch, Etymology: Dutch schets, from Italian schizzo, literally, splash, from schizzare to splash, of imitative origin
1 a : a rough drawing representing the chief features of an object or scene and often made as a preliminary study b : a tentative draft (as for a literary work)

- 7-Step Photoshop Figure Drawing -

- When you first start out to draw a figure in photoshop, it's a good idea to plot your line of action first (In a bright colour), to represent the very core energy and flow of the figure you're about to draw.

- Then, on the next layer, begin drawing out your sketch in a nice neutral tone, plotting the body around the line of action and blocking in the major parts first.

- Then, once you're satisfied that you've captured the energy of the pose and have a defined enough shape to work with, begin blocking in the shading on another layer (set the layer behavior to multiply) Use a fairly large brush to block in the shadows, and don't get too in-depth at this stage--- just roughly. Now that you've sketched and determined your lighting, you should have somewhat of a figure coming along!

- Next, on a new layer (normal), select a small, hard-edged brush, turn your opacity option off and select a dark colour for your outline, or lineart. Very carefully, using the zoom feature, begin to draw an outline on top of the sketch layer until you've completed encircled all details.

- It's time to turn off visibility on the action line and sketch lines and begin coloring! On a new layer (multiply), select a medium-sized brush and begin brushing in your colors. Choose a nice mid-tone that's not too dark, nor too light and then fill in all the areas you'd like coloured.

- Once all the color is in, it's going to look a bit flat. Open a new layer (multiply), and , using the eye dropper tool, take a sample from the area you'd like to shade. Then, switch to the brush and darken all the areas you shaded previously, and shade in details, making good use of the opacity option.

- To finish off, add a new layer (soft light), and select white paint. Then, brush onto the prominent areas of the figure that aren't shaded, adding highlights as needed.

There's a basic process for drawing figures in photoshop (cleanup not included :bitey:)--- as you practice more and more, you'll undoubtedly begin developing your own methods and techniques. Practice, practice, study references (Brackenwood has a great Resource Section, thanks to our thoughtful moderators), and practice more!! You'll start seeing improvement, guaranteed.

Go to it!! :bfoot:

Thanks a lot man, I'm glad you enjoyed them.

It's funny people think I'm black when my nickname is Pastey for being so pale.
