Yeh Rubies are even better in my eyes

my arts been slipping since my teacher drained all the fun out of it so after talking to Ranoka for a bit I decided to pick up me pencil and sketch. Always wanted to do a human study but my school would never get in the models so I used a photo reference instead. There's loads of things wrong with it. Have to link since it's

I agree, that is very nice Pillow. Any way we could see your reference picture so we have something to compare it to?

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, did you start my drawing what you saw (the shapes as they appeared in your reference pic) or did you create a skeleton structure based off of the pose? Not that it matters as it looks great anyway :). I am just starting to really get serious about anatomy myself and like to know how others work.

Here's my reference , thanks for the compliments guys, she's not exactly the same but I havnt done proper sketching in a couple of months :gasp: :yfok:
I started by looking at the reference and roughly sketching out the basic shape before starting on the details, I kind of correct my rough sketch at the same time, that's my method, not sure how any one else does it

Thanks Pillow, after seeing the reference pic the only thing that really sticks out to me is the face. Your lines are a little too bold I think. Maybe by using only shading to define the eyes, nose and mouth it will have a better flow. Anyway that is a very minor gripe on my part .

Oh, and I hope you don't mind that I took a shot at sketching the reference pic too. I spent about 10 mintues in Sketchbook,

Mild Nudity - click for sketch

As always crits are greatly appreciated.

Very good. I think the right buttok is a little to small. Other than that it seems fine. B)

Thanks Salter, it is too small. I'm also not happy with the leg positions. It looks boring to me.

I agree with Salter1701, the right buttok has to be dragged more down.
You should also curve you're spine more. (I drew it a bit wrong in the sketch, but the spine has to be conected all the way up to the head)
And when her hips are tilting at that angle, it means her left foot is holding the weight. So I think that foot needs to be pushed closer to the center of gravity
(Or try standing like that yourself, and you'll see it)

Thanks Comlock. Now I HAVE to draw this again :)

I will get right on it.

EDIT: 2nd try, I disregarded the original reference pic for this sketch using only my previous sketch and the suggestions given, took about 45 minutes

The tiny bit of flash showing near the arm doesn't fit the curve of the spine making the poor girl look a tad large in the tummy area. I know you weren't following the reference for the second attempt but you'll notice in the reference it's not visable

Pillow - thanks, for your observation.

Calco - looking good, I really like the guys face in the middle. Keep practicing.

ediblecastle - Great sketch, that guy looks familiar to me for some reason but I don't remember why.

Edible, there's something about your style that reminds me of one of the other forum members from a few months ago named "jubjub". I don't know exactly what it is, but the picture's awesome.

The only thing I'd critique is that you used a reference picture instead of drawing a model in person... but I mean other than that, fantastic. Keep up the good work.

hey guys. back from another hiatus, so im sure nobody recognizes me anyway, haha. anyway, heres a very light sketch (thank my dopey scanner) of a robot for an idea for a comic i had. i know its very light, but comments/critiques are welcome.

EDIT: Okay, I inked it in so you guys can see the details. Sorry!

From what I can make out it looks really good. If I understand right this is just a character idea so I won't mention the pose. I like your style but the robot seems a little too human, alsmost as if it could be a guy in a suit.

I would play around with the larger masses and try to make them smaller, maybe instead of a waist, just a couple of support rods with a few wires. same with the neck area. I like the way you did the arms.

Oh and for the brightness, you can try adjusting the contrast, most image editing software has this feature.

thanks. yeah, i know it looks very human, and i did play around with ideas like the ones you mentioned, so im going to keep working on it. all of the orb-y things you see on the robot are supposed to open and reveal some sort of kick-ass arsenal. what you see here is more of a "casual friday" pose....

Playing around with Painter. Cool program :)
I like the pencil tool a lot, although I had to make my own before I got it to feel the way I wanted it to.
