Nice sketches Calco. A couple things I noticed: - He's turned at an angle, but his cape at the shoulders looks like it is facing us directly. - Left hand could use some work. - The positioning of his legs/feet don't make sense. His right leg (i.e. the one that's on the left for us) should be closer to us than the leg on the right, and the foot should be lower than the one on the right. The way it is now it looks like a) his left leg is longer than his right leg and b ) is twisting around slightly. - His left foot (the one that is on the right for us), should be moved to the right more. The way his legs are positioned now, he would be a bit off-balance. I like the second sketch a lot. A few crits: - The fingers on his right hand (the one that is on our left) are looking very flat. - His sleeves seem to be of uneven size. I'm not really sure about this one though. I'm quite tired atm, can't really tell for sure. - The shirt doesn't seem to be wide enough at the bottom, it looks like it narrows as it gets further down so that it hugs his body closer at the bottom than it does at the top. Once again though, I'm not really sure about this one. |

 Awesome Arthur, I love the one right at the bottom, and the paraplegic right at the top
Here's a sketch of the guy who was sitting next to me in Geography the other day: ![]() Crits would be much appreciated, this is the first life-drawing I've done in quite a while. Edit: Note, that thing with the vertical dotted line at the bottom is his collar. |

both great Calco, especially like the first one, on the second one his tshirt hangs at the chest but not at the stomach giving the impression it's tucked in, if it was though there'd be more creases, so just let it hang a little if you can be bothered to change it. Both great though! Here's my little sketch, never really finished it Mature Content Dave I love that ear! and Comlocks stuff is great as usual  |

![]() More painter goodness. Forgive the anatomy, I just started paitning without a sketch. Looks good Divine Dave, but try to add some more lines/shading in the cheek/jaw area. Besides that, I won't do you much good at commenting on the structure of the face because... well... I don't know jack about that.

looks good, jemooky.... ....here are a couple more drawings for the comic idea i had. i think i might actually follow through on this one....i mean, who doesnt like giant robots and cowboys....TOGETHER?! haha, anyway, any comments.crits are welcome. I know the evil robot guy looks very static, but that's just because i wanted a detailed "prototype" thingie. also, i know i messed up on the guy's arm....oh well. ![]()

Well, putting the stereotypical look of the robot aside for a moment, he doesn't look all that scary. Change his teeth, make the tops rounded, so his head looks like an actual skull. Apart from that, it's good drawing. You need to work on your human torsos and legs though. |

didnt say scary, dude, i said static (as in "non-actiony"). i wasnt attempting to make it look like a real skeleton either, just enough so people would know what it might resemble. could you maybe draw a robot that isnt stereotypical for me? not quite sure what you meant by that. also, the whole torso and leg thing....yeah, my guy's wearing a pancho-type thing and chaps....cartooning implies exaggeration, am i right? thanks for the crits. |

Hey guys, haven't been here in, like, foreva, ha just checkin' up on the sketches that keep me so entertained for moments first things first Comlock: Lookin' good, I sometimes wonder where you get your inspiration for some of those crazy drawings, looks like those were from a horse, obviously I love the one in the very bottom, that tiny little itty bitty one, it's definately the best haha next DW: Without knowing what the guy looks like, I can't really give it a decent crit. The only thing that bugs me, is the line under the eye, his cheekbone I assume. It just looks a little off to me, I dunno how, it just does, heh, I know that doesn't help much. But other than that it looks great! =D and then we came to Pillow: Is that you? haha, no, I kid you. yes, crits, right that type of shading is not a very good way to go. It's not that visually pleasing and seems a little sloppier than maybe chiaroscuro/modeling (traditional shading, with just using the pencil to create darker and lighter values and not smearing or smudging them). I would suggest to make it a little better, maybe go over it again with your pencil and don't smudge it, and maybe make a few areas darker to add some contrast into it. The breasts look a little flat to me. I don't mean small, I mean not 3d. They don't seem to have any weight to them, I did a quick little fix-boobjob =] Jemooky!:That looks AWESOME I love the contrast in it....I guess you already know about the anatomical flaws since you so stated in your post...I guess nothing really to say about it then, other than, it looks great. Hockman: I like the robot alot. I love that etchy style of shading you have. It's got a real old cartoony feel to it. Nothing really stands out to me as wrong in the picture, so keep it up! =] CLiNK: Those mostly look cartoony, so I can't really give them any crits, since, as Hockman said, "cartooning implies exaggeration," which is so true. Except on your hand, all I see that looks wrong to me, are the fingers and wrist. The fingers are kinda blocky, I dunno if you were going for that look or not. The wrist just looks a tad too skinny, Idunno, maybe you just have a thin wrist . But I like all those little sketches, especially that weird amorphous blob in the bottom right and the guy with the mile between his eyes in the top right. Man, long post, ha. I haven't done one that long in a while. Well I'm off to read The Scarlet Letter, if any of you are familiar with the book. Keep drawin' guys! they all look great! meh, I'll contribute a few of my own drawings I've been doing as of late. You are the Pearl of My Heart (that's what it says around the heart) it's a little something I did for this girl I kinda have a crush on, haha....oh highschool crushes Some people called it morbid. BAH! Not morbid in the least. haha.... oh, the weird stuff around the pearl (being the circle in the middle of the heart) is supposed to be stuffing, like you'd see in a toy bear and whatnot. The patch with the hand stitching it on represents her healing an emotional scar I had. And the arrow signifies love. I believe that's all the symbolism in there...mhmm.. I've done more to it since then, but I haven't taken a picture of it yet and uploaded it. maybe another time =] Hacky-sack Yes, it is a hacky-sack, and I AM aware it looks a bit like a deflated soccer ball. Though the hacky sack itself is in the style of a soccerball.... Just got bored one day and drew it in english class....took about a half hour or more....not too long. that's all, crits are always greatly appreciated =] |

Hey DW maybe its just me, but that jewish guys eye is a little to far back
if his eye were there it would be on the side of his head and he would have fish vision.
maybe try moving it closer towards the nose. but thats all i noticed looks goood.

thanks for the comments, clink and villageidiot. i gotta keep working on the stuff, but im pleased with how its come out so far
clink, i love your style, reminds me a bit of my own i suppose. the cartoony feel you give to your stuff is great, so keep it up, man. village, i really like the depressed-looking hacky-sack. looks like someone's hacked their sack one too many times, hehe here are a few more quick sketches of my main character guy. i did the first two really quickly, and are just meant to be action guide type things. evidently, he's had his attention drawn away from pulling some random rope in the bottom one.... ![]()

Damn, Hock, I absolutely love the style of your drawings. Each one has so much character, and I don't know, maybe it's the posture, but something in them really tells a good deal of the story with just one still image. Great work, I say!

Thanks for the crits Villageidiot and huejorgan!
Yeah, the eye looks totally out of place when I look at it now. Especially when you look at its position relative to the eyebrow, it looks too far back. Thanks =)Hock: Nice use of props. The spider in the first pic and the tumbleweed in the second, definately makes the scene more convincing. One crit of the last pic, his pose isn't dynamic enough. His back should be arched further back, his head is still realtively centered between his feet in the current pose. |
