is this an ok pose? i can see that a lot of the porportion is wrong but i was having trouble with the torso and the left arm* his right arm if you were him in the drawing*, and some other tiny mess ups.

NOTE: his thumb on the right hand at his waste/torso you wont see cuz in real life it would be behind him so i didnt draw his thumb cuz the way the hand pose is on his waste.

if you cant tell, he is confused or thinking, thats why his hand is like that on the chin and why theres a question mark above his head.

....ha, i have to say my self the whole guy is in horrible porportion.....which is bringing to the point its not a great drawing right now.

when you're drawing in your more intentional darker lines.. after you've drawn in your structure shapes and whatnot. try not to just re-draw over those lines. you have to try and add more realistic shape to the limbs. add the lumps n bumps etc.

Nice kenny, I dig. And now... my random doodles from work! Sadly they're on extremely saturated yellow paper and are pretty bright on here.

This one is a mockery of my Flash I've been trying to start forever.

And on this one, mine are in red. The others are a co-worker's.

Pretty cool. How did you do those lights?

It was made in Painter.

I created two white shapes. One was a circle, and the other was a star shape. Like: *
I made them in different layers.

Then, I applied "zoom blur" to each shape, checked the "zoom in" box, and offsetted the origin of the blur, as seen most clearly on the light to the left. I think I may have lowered the opacity of the circular shape, so that the star is seen more clearly.

Glad you like it :)

last night i tried to draw an old indian man. the initial line art was fine. but as i started adding more detail and shading the worse he got. i got pretty frustrated, ripped him out, crumpled him up and threw him against the wall in a fit of rage.

i decided this morning to try and draw my girlfriend as i knew i'd put more effort into it. i'm quite pleased with the result... i mean its just a sketch but its ok. it looks quite like her, however it still looks quite a bit different from the photo i was drawing from.

Edible, I'd say this face is better than I could draw.. good work! :)

The only thing that I'd fix on this is the hair. It seems like when you drew it, you knew the proportions for the face, but then just drew the hair instead of finishing the head.

By drawing the rest of the sphere of the top of the head and the jaw, it's easier to make the hair look more realistic. Hair covers one's head, so unless you, or the person you're drawing, has a bald spot, then hair should cover the entire sphere of their scalp. In your picture though, the top left of her head would extend beyond where the hair is. The way you've drawn it, it looks like the hair is supposed to outline the sphere of her head. I've drawn in green the sphere of her head. In yellow is a rough outline of her jaw. In blue is the eye and nose lines. Finally, in red, is where the hair should be. It isn't far off, so the portrait still looks good. I'm just being nitpicky because that little extra notch is what will make your art look amazing.

Keep up the good work! :bfoot:

Generally Uninterested.
ive never seen someone with hair that juts that far out off of their head ziggity. You gotta remember that different people have different kinds of hair, some thin hair will sag more than it poofs out.

personally i think edible's portrait looks pretty good. Id have to see the person he drew to make an accurate crit because there is nothing that really stands out as incorrect to me.

hey thanks for the advice zigity, looking at the sketch with fresh eyes now and i totally agree about the hair. colesif... i think the illustration was just making a point, the hair does need to be a bit further out.
