Thanks Calcifer, but I really f-ed this one up :) His cheekbones are too big, his face is way too fat, and I didn't even try on the hair. I think I better learn to paint slowly before I try to do it fast ;) .

Ya'll are just going to have to bear with me as I have a few growing pains like this B) .

I dont think its THAT bad, I mean ya its not exact but... itll never be exact, its just practice anyway. Its just important that we take note of our mistakes and try to fix them on our next peice of work... learing from our mistakes. God knows I have!!!

Hey Inflame, sick piece of work, there--- I like his chops!

You've packed a bit of strokes and detail into this drawing--- that's fine--- but I think
you should concentrate on where you're putting the detail more. If you look at the drawing, there's a fairly uniform amount of detail and contrast throughout the whole thing.

- The eyes stand out the most because they are the most solid and dark.

- The snake gets lost, partly because he's so scrunched up and partly 'cause he's got about the same amount of contrast as the rest of the drawing.

If I were you, I'd
try plotting out the most important parts of the picture first, making sure they have enough room for contrast and detail.

Today in class we did negative space drawing:

I originally shaded with vine charcoal, but decided to go over it with compressed. (ran out of time :/)

1 1/2 hours on newsprint.

OMG
it's MALCOM X!!!

....

oh wait...haha :P
looks alot like Samuel L. though...good work,
is that "Pulp Fiction" Samuel L.?
looks like it.

Ak: that took 1.5 hours?!!!
:worry:
seems a BIT long for just a drawing with black around it...
You might wanna work on your speed a bit, but otherwise....those do look really good! atleast I can tell what they are!
then you'd really be in a pickle, if no one knew what they were..haha...

TooMany: Pretty good painting for only 15 minutes, though I think you should have spent more time on getting the structure right, rather than jumping straight to painting.
but the skin tone is really good, and lighting looks good
Just work on that anatomy!

Calco: I like it, though I suggest you add some more depth too it.
Gradients can be nice, but don't rape it with gradients.
Then it just looks lazily done.
Right now it looks like you just opened it flash, and used the paint bucket tool 3 or 4 times.
Ever try colouring in photoshop?
or another program?
Flash isn't a good program to colour in, ;)
but otherwise, I love the design...though I'm not sure what the big black thing is that sticks outta the middle of it...

Yea I have tried, Im not too good yet, and I dont have it at my mums house :yfok:
I did it in flash cause I might be using it in flash.

The blackthing coming out of the middle is a daleks "hand" tool thingy, they resemble plungers :D

Yeap! :)
We had 1 1/2 hours to do as many as we could, but I thought it best to pile all my charcoal in one basket. The teacher didn't really seem that concerned about the objects in the positive space. (the chairs, stools) She said it was best that the lines of the negative space be crisp and the shading smooth.

3 minute vine charcoal on newsprint:

ah
so
it's a janitorial robot?
haha
no, Just kidding.
It looks good if you're just using it in flash.
:)

Ak: I like this new one, but uhh...what's she(?) got in her legs?

looks kidna like a fake horse to me.
It looks pretty sound though, looks like she quickly grabbed whatever it is with her legs and is about to do something with it, or just fall over. ha

G'day Y'all!

I am in Multimedia class at the moment and I have just completed the task of making my face into a cartoon sorta character.
I just traced a picture of me then I coloured it.

Villageidiot - you got it :) that was Jules from Pulp Fiction

Calcifer - It was the same actor, Samuel L Jackson that played both those parts, so you are absolutely right.

akpaintslinger - you gonna finish that last sketch? I also want to know what is inbetween the legs.

boundless - hands are the hardest part of the body, The bottom left one looks pretty good, but I can tell you weren't trying very hard.

munch - looks good to me, nice charicatures. Mistakes are excusable when drawing that kind of style.

w00t - there's a point in between cartoony and realistic where things just look odd. Right now I think that's where you picture is. By adding a few more colors to the face and hair and smoothing out some of the lines you could probably improve it a lot. But since it was for school the grade is all that matters right?

Today just a tedious anatomy study, referenced.

Beautiful ref, Had2. :) Keep up the great work.

Sketch I did in Layout class today while my teacher was bashing Michael Eisner. Not sure if I'm going to throw tone on it or not:

Shame is a creature that sits on your shoulders,
lidless and peering, in the dark where it smolders.
It does not sleep; it can only survive
While it waits for the chance to eat you alive.

And, in no particular order, four tonal storyboards from my new project:

Thanks for making me feel like shit for posting after such greatness, hot damn...
I'dd say screw the tone, it's got great vitality as a line drawing, wouldn't take that away.
Project looks interesting, really interesting characters aswell.

Lazy junk from the couch... yawn...

Fantastic, Rubberhead! Your subtle tones are as always spot-on. Keep working on your anatomy though; their lips don't come far enough out in front of their teeth and the eyebrows are a little far back. The line of action on the bottom guy is great (love the stylish hair! ) but it's a trade-off for being a little boneless. Good stuff overall; great seeing your work. Very inpirational. :)

You mean my avatar?

Edit: It's from this piece I did. My boyfriend and a couple other people said it looked like a penis with fins, so of course that meant I had to keep it.
