The sick dude ever1 talks about

Hey guys I am finally back from vication. 4 days with my crazy mom in scottland sure takes on a poor guys mental health.Anyways good posts so far guys. The face on the alien wife looks off Rubberhead.Other then that great drawing. @ Calco : The muscles are off and as you wrote yourself the arm is too thin. @ akpaintslinger : Good posts. I liked the objects and the shadow but I noticed lots of things. As Othugmuffin wrote the square shadow is totally off.And the rest of the shadows aswell.Remember that you need to imagine a lightsource that casts shadow on objects. The farther away or higher up the light is above the objects decides how big and how wide the shadow will be.And remember the shadows will be casted in the same direction. As I can see in your drawing the shadows are going seperate directions =) Just a reminder. Now my hand was itchy and I soon began to draw =) I tried to get some more realistic shadows this time.C&C is much appreciated. And thanks for the comments on my last piece =)

There's some really cool stuff on the last few pages. Not a crappy one in sight
I'm really fond of the shame creature, the red ballpoint pen renders (rubberhead), and AK's shape renders. And I always love zombies, of course. InFlame, you might want to try to make the light source clearer, since it seems like randomly placed shadows at the moment. As for me, I coloured Gabriel's (of Penny-arcade) Boba Fett sketch. I never said I wasn't a dork.

thats awsome jem, i love the kindof angelic glow around him, and inflame thats pretty good, i really think you should get an anatomy book, look up george bridgman, hes my fav , another thing, what program are you using?, and your shadows just kinda look like random scribbles, his right hand is gigantic, his torso is a lil bit 2 small, and his neck is also too small, keep them comin tho, youve improved lots

Keep in mind I didn't actually draw it. Just want to make that clear. Go to penny-arcade.com for the original. (By the time you look, he may have already coloured it by himself) And if you don't like starwars, you need to at least like Boba Fett. That's just the way the universe is put together. And the clonewars cartoon was the shit. |

InFlamE - That's my favorite picture I've seen from you yet. It's really got some character to it. Jemooky's right about the light though, be sure and watchh for that. Jemooky - sweet coloring. The metal on the chest is very nice. And the glares make me want to squint when I look at it. I can't see anything to crit, so just keep it up. Tom Conger - NIce, two things stick out to me though. First the tip of the thumb holding the pencil is tilted in an unnatural way. Second is your shading. Seems like you could improve it if you try to be more precise rather than just sketching in all directions. I do the same thing though so I really can't talk. Just an area we could both improve in I guess. I haven't posted in a while (mainly because of some "restructuring" at my job which has landed a whole lotta sh** right in my lap) but I did manage a few half hearted sketches. Unfinished upper arm study referencing Louise Gordon ![]() Another Upper Arm study Burne Hogarth Style ![]() the hand on the bottom left is way too big. Also my attempt a simplifying the arm at the top failed miserable. I shoul of left my original lines. Another Hogarth Arm study ![]() Here trying to draw cloth, couldn't make up my mind. Garbage. ![]() If anything I think this post shows how much more comfortable I am drawing with my tablet than on paper with a pencil. |

@Jemooky Thanks ! ^^ Hehe I know the lightsourceing got abit messed up.First I wanted the light to hit hes back alittle cuz of the moonlight and lamp outside. But then I wanted the houselight to cast shadows on him.Overall I messed up.I'll try to improve on that area aswell as colouring @ HadOne2Many: Thanks ^.^ and nice work with the muscles! I think I need to study that stuff too.And I bought Animators survial kit when I was in scottland 2 days ago ^^ So now I hope to improve on several things. @Ravenseye: Nice work on the colouring there! I really like the glossiness you gave it. The crab pincer is the best one Keep it upFor now I got bored of making monsters and stuff. And ive basicly played ww2 games all day so I thought I should give it a go and colour it.Anyways C&C is much appreciated

As shanewaier mentioned some is from Louuise Gordon's How to Draw the Human Figure: An Anatomical Approach and some comes from Burne Hogarth's Dynamic Anatomy (By the way shanewaier, I did mention Hogarth in the previous post. Perhaps you should take your own advice )Anyway Calco, I read a lot. I mean a lot, more than 4 hours a day usually. Sometimes while I'm reading I sketch as I go(and these are the types of sketches I just posted:) ). I can only recommend these books if you are going to take them seriously and study them thoroughly. More crits later, need rest first. |

Thanks, Mal Yeah, the video is incredible, isn't it? I think he sped it up a bit, but he lays down flawless lines. I tried to mimic his style a bit, which you can see in the swooshy line on his stomach-plate. Maybe I should show the rest of the minions what we're talking about: Click on this link to see Penny-arcade's Gabe ink the bobo fett sketch, which I later coloured. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Rubber: Ecellent speed paint, man. Your colour choice continues to make me its bitch. Is that all done using normal paint settings, or did you use layer filters like overlay? Shanewaier: Besides the lips being too pink, I think the face is too yellow as well. Did you see my Colbert/Fight Club portraits from a few pages back? Those were pretty much the most benefitial thing I've ever done to understand the colours that compose a face. What I did was google a picture of my subject, paste it into painter, then begin painting without a sketch. Most importantly, do NOT use the eyedropper tool to sample the colours from the original image. Try to use your eye and the understanding of Painter's colour wheel to find the right tone. If you find yourself completely unable to find the right colour, then you can sample it, but pay close attention to how the colour relates to the wheel. If you do this, you'll quickily understand how much colour variation skin can have. Did that make sense? I hope it helped. |

I like the horizen rubber. A little darker near the edges would make my eyes draw a little more to the sun light shooting out from behind the cloud. I got The art of Animal Drawing today at my local book store yeaay ... thought i would have to order it for more and wait for it to come but nope! Im sure with time ill be able to draw animals much better beacuse of this but as of right now i think i can draw a horse better then i used to be able too. Heres some of the sketchs i worked on. ![]() ![]() These next 2 were a excersise that you were to make a horse look like it was pulling a heavy load one way then flip it around like it was pulling it the other way. ![]()

G'day Y'all! it has certainly been ahwile since i have posted on brackenwood. i went to a couple of my fathers friends' sheep stations yesterday in the chopper, on the way we passed the baccus marsh airport, while my father was refuelling, i sat back and drew the planes that were at rest. No scanner for me today, so i drew one that i liked alot in flash. here it is: ![]() im gunna be using it in a short animation that i might use as my signature in the years to come. haven't done any colours, maybe ill do some later today. what do you think? byby |
