Raven, did a quick overpaint of your dragon painting.

Some major things you need to keep in mind are atmospheric perspective, the the size of detail in perspective, and saturation levels.

The further someting's away, the less saturate it becomes and the more the hues blend with the colour of the atmosphere. This generally also leads to less contrast. So far away objects should be more greyed out.
I noticed all your grass is equal in size, you need to use larger strokes in the foreground and just a small ocasional stroke in the far away background.
Your shadows are also a problem, they are way to saturated.

Here's an article that handles about all this: http://daphne.palomar.edu/design/space2.html

Before you start to put colour on anything allways ask yourself what kind of material are you dealing with. For example the fur on horses
http://e-advancement.csupomona.edu/film/ga...kingham_jpg.jpg
Noticed the satin effect, where light reflects directly onto the viewer and the way it blends to midtone.
Best piece of advice I can give now is to look at how saturation changes in light and shadowy areas, it's fundamental to getting a convincing painting.

Ditto on that that, but I'd even push that right mountain back further (color wise), closer to the middle one....

I took Anghenfil's advice, and sketched around with Catoman's design.

The scanner is quite literally tied to my sister's computer, which has no network connection or CD burner, or even USB ports, so I have to use my digital camera and hope I can get it to take a decent picture. <_<

To espen: I am totally loving your style espen! It reminds me of some DC comics I saw, which were very gritty and messy but so very stylish.

to Akpaintslinger: Some great work coming from you. keep it up. Your bottom pic looks like MasterRade. ;)

Elephant, I mean this really sincerely: You are easily in the top three for most original style on this forum. Get some illustration board, some ink, and sell it. :sage:

See there, loverly lady? That is inherent personal style. It can't be taught or forced and we can't all have it... ;)

You are easily in the top three for most original style on this forum.

I'm often worrying about if I'm original enough, because I've been influenced a lot by other very original artists... And if you'd see my life drawings then you'd stop saying all these nice things. Which reminds me to take pictures of my art school work...

And... I'm not ready to sell my soul just yet. :P

I would buy that on a shirt - it looks real nice for some reason :)

Raven: That looks pretty awesome dude, I especially like the background and all the textures.

Some sketchings from me:

I feel bad about showing this one, it just looks so out wack. I beleive the problem lies in the pin head  In the actual picture there is actually a lot of shading too but my scanner finds it hard to pick up blue pencil.

Various thingies from the past couple days. (same shading problem with the dude in the middle.)
