Something needs to go here...........
|
Raven: Your picture looks so freaking awsome, I love the way it's cartooning with such a realistic feel about it and then such a good tree in the far left aswome
Esp: That looks good, hope your bad day got better, but I like the feel cause it makes you look from right to left then back over it. theEye: I don't know if it was the cam or your intention but they seem very blurry/out of focus. On a diff note, the tiger's tail kinda just ends with the way you have just made it black at the end. His front legs need a bit more detail. The face of the girl I don't know why you don't like it because it looks right because it's kinda hidden by her hair and she is looking away from the center. (I love your work man, everytime I see it I sit there thinking WOW wish I could do that, check my drawings out in watcha workin on Not as good as your's tho). Humbleego: Your um...... a prick how the hell do you draw/animise etc.... Such good stuff in such a short amount of time and it always looks freakin aswome. Megamunch is still my favourite. |

Hey thanks daz. Jem there is many things wrong with this painting color wise. I started this back before i learned everything that rubberhead has taught me. Thanks for the crits thou! Espen Espen i like it ... im not to sure whats going on in the back ground but good choice in colors. Also the skull looks flat. Nice looking curves on that back side dow!!!! TheEye nice job for pen and ink! The tiger looks well done and so does the chick but where is her right leg? I think her hair is well done too. |

Ravenseye, to add to Jem's colouring advices, I'd say that some of the highlights are too white. They should be slightly tinted... The whole composition of the painting feels crowded because of all the unnecessary details. You mentioned earlier that after awhile you realized you've painted the picture wrong*? Well, one of the things you haven't kept in mind is that the further things are, the more general they become. Also, the overall placement of the dragon and the warrior... if it was up to me, I'd put more distance between them since the samurai (?) is very static and sort of cautious, waiting for the dragon to strike first; even though that's not what I'm reading from his pose, because the soldier looks like he's just posing there with no emotions. The dragon does feel threatened and angry, which is good. Coming back to unnecessary details... what's up with the tree in the back? The leaves do add some flow, but again, they're all too detailed and maybe the placing isn't too good. If you'd create the bigger space between the dragon and the man, then you could stick the little tree somewhere in the back, between them two. That's just how I see it could be done, hope it helps. *side note: I think that you can only say 'wrong' when you're trying create realistic pictures, otherwise you can either you paint bad or good - which is relative. |

Wow, lots of great stuff as usual. Too much to comment on right this second. It's been a while since I posted anything, I finally got a few minutes to draw something. I was just playing around and decided to jump on the Marvel Bandwagon. This is about 45 minutes, most of that was my initial sketch. I kinda like where this is going and may try and finish it later. ![]() EDIT: Cleaned it up a bit. ![]() |

G'day Ravenseye! Were you watching Final Fintasy - Advent Childen, whilst doing this or before you did this were you? This looks like one of the scenes in it. I can't get ya a picture of it.. but if you watch the movie you'll see the resemblence.. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, it'd be great to see what you make of it.. Keep up the good work! byby |

Ravenseye - Thanks for pointing that out. I initially drew him leaping and added the shadow as an afterthought. I fixed it the foot, you can see my new version in the Work in Progress thread. I also fixed the tumor on his right leg. I really liked how your dragon painting turned out by the way. I'm looking forward to your cat piece too. You have improved tremendously since your first few photoshop attempts. Jemooky - have you found it difficult to go back to traditional materials? I've been ruined by my computer. Espen - your recent posts are flippin sweet. You are fearless when it comes too color experimentation and it is really paying off for you. TheEYE - Just wondering are you sketching things first with pencil or do you go straight to the ink? I really like you Black & White pieces. Humbleego - you remind me of a commercial on TV, I think its for the NFL. "Amatuers work until they get it right, Professionals work until they can't get it wrong." You are a pro. elephant - I like your flash picture. It's so much cleaner than your MS Paint stuff but it retains your style. I think you should do more of these in Flash. Sweaterjon - the Preston Blair book looks like good practice for you. I'd like to see more reference drawings from it. Tom Conger - your portait not so crappy You managed to capture an expression and put some life into it. so many potraits often turned into lifeless images. Good job.for anyone still reading, sorry bout the long post :D. |

Yeah, I'd say so. I've been trying to do a lot of acrylics, and it's frustrating beyond belief to lose all of photoshop or painter's features. I want to turn blending off, goddammit! But I try to keep my traditional media skills up to par. The greatest obstacle is the learning curve that comes with them. Each one is completely different, unlike choosing different brushes in photoshop. You should try doing a finished art project on paper some time. Just to see if you're up to it. |
