Elephant, I absolutely adore your style, so I'm only going to make this critique in your best interest: Try varying your proportions. You always seem to have large heads, small hands, and longish triangular noses. Try mixing it up: Big feet, tiny heads, enormous hips, etc. Love your line quality. It's very whimsical and childlike, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Sketched this cartoon because I was pissed at someone... she doesn't resemble the girl in the picture at all actually--I only drew the girl this way so that she'd be totally unrecognizable (since no real human being acutally has those proportions or bend their hands that way)... The funniest part is that the person I was mocking actually commented on the picture on dA, completely oblivious to its true intent...

I like it, one thing that could be fixed thou is his front pockets. There is nothing wrong with them they just have the shape of back pockets, making it look like he is standing with his torso turned 180 degrees. Just an idea, nice pic keep it up

Oooh yah, she's the person who commented on that sketch with "Is that supposed to be you or Adam (my boyfriend) because it looks like you have a moustache..." or whatever. She's intensely critical of my work in the sense that it must be scientifically accurate and 100% anatomically correct. Check out her comments on my painting in progress "The Clockhand's Groaning Circles" (link posted in the what are you working on thread)... THAT is why I was pissed. [rant] Try to explain yourself, get hammered for SPELLING. Try to experiment, get told you can't do what you're planning because SOMEONE ELSE couldn't. I don't want someone else to put their limits on me and tell me I can't do something, no matter what it is, especially because its "too difficult". Just because you can't do something doesn't mean I can't... why don't you look at your OWN work before telling me that my work isn't so scientifically accurate... Just because you TOOK a science-based anatomy class doesn't mean you can apply what you know in the art realm, since application and knowledge are two different things; especially in art. *continues to rant in another room*[/rant] Anyway, this person tries to call herself My Best Friend and gets angry at ME if I act even the slightest bit angry with her... I hate the way girls act so much... why is it such a competition? Going to work on another sketch now anyway! Thanks for the good comments, guys! OH and inflame, your new sketch is really nice, I can tell you're improving! Though I didn't notice the pockets at first, but its true; they do look like back pockets. But thats alright, the work on shading the clothing over shadows it in my opinion...

Fear me, for I upload many pictures at once because I haven't been on here in ages! Mwahaha!![]() This is an unfinished alien, sorry about the little dots, I was polishing my shoes a little too near my drawings. This alien race is known as the Kayosnay [Kah-Yoh-Snay], they're hugely paranoid, hate all other races and have had many coup d'etats over the course of their history. However, they have amazingly close concept of family, they believe every Yosnay [the Ka prefix makes it plural] is related to all over Yosnay in some way, so everyone is family. They even call people higher than them [in social order, job or rank] fathers or mothers. The gun the Yosnay is carrying is an electron particle beam. ![]() A Yosnay out of armour, holding a Yosnay equivelant of a sword. Note the many eyes and arachnid inspired design. Also, the lack of lips, this limits the Kayosnay's alphabet to a smaller amount of sounds than we can create. ![]() Something from my sci-fi world again, this time in the far future, when the Kayosnay aren't so paranoid and almost all the races in the galaxy are united under one rule. This guy, a Dragontail, is a human supremecist, he believes that humans are better than the other races because they are more varied in their opinions, powers and adapt to new environments easier. The Dragontails are a quasi terrorist group, fortunately, despite that they've spread over about half the galaxy] they have next to no power, and are just responsible for the occasional disappearance or murder [although disappearances and murder are extremely rare in the far future, meaning that the Dragontails are responsible for almost all the crime in the galaxy]. Oh, and he doesn't have a gun because civillians aren't allowed guns and, unlike today, it is extremely hard to get them illegally, mainly because they're guarded by robots, 7-foot tall superpowerful robots that could turn you into a fine paste with its bare hands. ![]() Another thing from the far future, this time the pinnacle of combat technology, incorperating a cloaking device, noise suppressor [all noise, footsteps and gunshots etc.], jetpack, powered armour, density shield [this makes the armour denser and absorbs almost all energy hitting the armour], infrea red sensors, sonar, radar... I could go on forever. Suffice to say that this guy could kill the entire human race in a week, even less than that if they were closer together. Unless we nuked him [which we would have to be very accurate to do, seeing as he could use his enhanced sensory systems to detect the nuke, and then speed away at 250kmph+, besides his armour is strong enough to survive an indirect hit from a nuke anyway, though two would definitely kill him] he'd easily destroy us all. Although, he wouldn't of course, he's a good guy. ![]() Another alien. This time from far in the past, this alien race's medieval age to be exact. This guy is basically part of the military police [out of armour obviously] for the country which would soon take over the world and expand into the galaxy. The three symbols on his clothes and one on his sheild is their symbol for unity and alliance, it's meant to represent two becoming one. On the symbol on his sheild, to the left and right of the central circle, you can see their letters for 'K' and 'AY', 'KAY' being their word for 'ONE'. More of their language is found in my sig [note: 'oe' is pronounced like the letter 'O', not 'O-EH', and 'EI' is pronounced like the letter 'I']. ![]() Something out of my fantasy world, a mock-Roman warrior. Note how he carries a spear, a short sword on his front [partially hidden by shield] and a dagger on his belt. These people [I haven't thought up a name for their country yet] always like to come prepared. ![]() Another warrior from my fantasy world, from a mock-Feudal Japanese country this time. The symbols on his flag are a pictogram which mean 'The people living on the protected land in the night', which is a vague description of their country, a land protected by vast armies that favour night attacks and stealth to brute force. ![]() A draugr, in Norse Mythology they're super powerful zombies that you need to wrestle back to their graves [as weapons do nothing], cut the head off, bury the head, burn the body and throw the ashes in the sea before you can be sure they're dead. In my fantasy world, they're not that much different, Draugrs are created by a special ceremony done after their deaths, special clothes are put on the corpse and a long ritual performed, when the Draugr is revived, it has two overriding urges, 1: To protect its grave [and on occasion, its loved ones if it was very close to them in live], this drives it to steal or improvise weapons [hence the meat cleaver and meathook] and means it will usually be found lying silently in its grave until you enter or get too near, it will then kill you, and probably display your remains at the entrance to its tomb/grave. Its other overriding urge is to find its favourite weapon [see the sword on the Draugr's back?], usually they are buried with it, but sometimes it is stolen or kept by a member of its family. Once revived a Draugr will stop at nothing to get its favourite weapon back, unless its grave/tomb or loved ones are threatened. To kill a Draugr, you must cut off all its limbs, and cut the limbs in half at the elbows and knees, then gouge out its eyes, cut off its tounge, burn the body, take the bones and bury them all far away from each other [and far away from the grave] save for the skull, which you can either keep, or smash and then throw into the sea. Then it might, just be dead. Maybe. Any questions?

Wow!
Your paintings get better with every stroke, Travis. I love the colours you've chosen for the palette--- the sky is so elemental. Interesting mountains, too. The farthest one to the right almost looks like some ancient creature embedded in the land. One minor quip--- ![]() If this is a river, you might consider concealing the nearest bank to give a little better perspective/depth.

The painting isn't half bad but the proportions are bugging me - It might be just her right arm that's giving me the impression. And don't forget to crop your picture. Lighting bugs me, is the light comming from both sides? If so you'd need a deeper shadow down the center of the dress. The dress would probably also have a slight drop shadow on the legs. The hair should have highlights in the lit parts. Shadow on the right leg should be little smoother in the middle. Get rid of the light toned blobs in shadowy areas, makes it look like it was done careless. Nice painting btw
